If someone wants to leave you because of your handwriting, that's definitely a red flag

I just wanted to say while watching this that hard pressure on paper can actually be a sign of dyslexia and not necessarily anger, as you write in a different way/apply pressure in a weird way that ends up tearing the page. I had it a lot as a kid since I held my pencil weird and have heavy pressure also also another note: warping and those slanted d's can actually be from essential tremors/tics/other random jerks of movement. (random but ive met a lot of people on the spectrum who have warping in the middle zone and those really slanted d's, just thought it was interesting)

I got very mixed feelings about this. It's mostly known as a pseudoscience, but I do see how some aspects can tell you about health and the mind. The problem is that it becomes easily overstated and you get judged for something and you might not even know why you get excluded from opportunities and it all boils down to little details in your handwriting... (you can transfer it to other fields too where amateurs then try playing experts, just because it becomes a hype)

I hope I'm not the only one that thinks this is shallow. My handwriting looks like the compressed and angled examples. But I'm actually really relaxed when I'm writing like this. This just seems like a new way to judge people's personalities based on some very small aspect of their actions.

Some of the things you've said in this video could potentially cause people with harmless disabilities to be stigmatized. Hard pressure on paper can be a result of disabilities; It doesn't mean someone has anger issues. It's harder for me to write by hand than the average person, and it makes me put more pressure on paper when writing, because it requires a lot of concentration. Disabilities can also result in illegible handwriting or malformations in letters.

This video gave me more insight about people who enjoy analysing how people write than it gave me information about the possible red flags in people's handwriting.

My "friend" had the felon claw in her handwriting. I always thought that it was a cool quirk to her handwriting and it looked good but in the end she ended up bullying me and i ended up leaving school because of how bad it got at one point.

Interesting. My mother has small, copy-book cursive with a moderate, fairly even pressure while my handwriting changes so much based on my mood. It's super interesting to me, because I am really changeable and possibly 😅 a bit volatile. So is she, of course, but in a different way. We're both perfectionists, I think. But it's sort of our family style and in her handwriting you can see why.

I wish there were more graphology channels! Your the reason I learned graphology was even a thing. You inspired me so I started a journal about 2 months ago and tried to add healthy traits to my handwriting. I now write daily and it’s literally changed my life so far! When I first started I got a huge headache- almost like my brain “didn’t want to change” and I felt super weird after writing a page with all the healthy traits I could find. my handwriting started super small with lowercase i s but over the weeks it’s gotten bigger and healthier naturally and i don’t have to force it now. ok so after watching the video and reading most of the comments I just wanna point out that it should be common sense to know no one’s really gonna judge an entire person from one instance of their handwriting without knowing any background at all. I think it’s clear from what she said that it should be mostly just an indicator and if you live in society in this day and age, you’ll know a lot of factors come into handwriting. What I mean is, let’s just all calm down, no one’s criminalising anyone just by looking at one piece of their script. I think what she meant is like, if there’s no other outside factors and the situation is really prominent and consistent. Y’all think she’s quick to judge but y’all are also so quick to judge as well.

This kind of thing has the accuracy of palm reading. Half of these are done by teenage girls intentionally to make their handwriting appear more special, unique, or cute. Ok it might be argued that teenage girls aren't exactly mentally stable, but ya know what I'm saying.

all my exes had lower case personal "i" s ik it indicates low self esteem but i found they often looked to me as a "manic pixie dream" boy who could cure them and when i didn't they'd lash out or we'd have an argument (maybe abt time management or money or whatever) and they'd always make it about me attacking them. i just found that this particular low self esteem turned into paranoia around others, or self-pity i hope they're better now and for a long time i genuinely wanted to help my partners _all the time_ but i cannot be there _all the time_ and i ended up feeling responsible idk if there's any actual correlation but i found this particular trait of low self esteem often goes with people who victimise themselves

Hey! I love ur videos, but I just wanted to point out that for almost/all traits in handwriting analysis are influenced by a motor disability! For instance, I have one, and it makes my handwriting extremely messy and tangled because I don’t have the capacity to write evenly etc. I’m sure you knew about these sorts of things, but it’d be cool if you wanted to put a disclaimer on some videos to specify this for more cases (and thanks for that disclaimer in this video). just a suggestion if you would like to include some expansive exceptions in the future!! :D

I have to say, I feel like ADHD affects these. Like my brain is moving so fast and in so many places that I can't keep up, so it results in tangling. Which I guess, like, yeah, my brain is "confused" cause it's all over the place. But to me it doesn't feel really confused per say, and more just everything happening at once aha.

You forgot the biggest red flag which is judging someone based on their handwriting.

Do you have any statistics? A lot of the things mentioned could be due to stylistic choices (copying someone's handwriting for aesthetic purposes) or difficulties with motor skills (such as dyspraxia). And of course ripping a page indicates violence - no one does that unless they're furious... But it could be an accident because the page wasn't resting on something solid?? Everything in this video could be explained by perfectly normal things. We can't avoid people because they write their letters a certain way. Studying actual human behaviour would be a far more accurate use of time. If you have statistics for this stuff, awesome. If not... please save the pseudoscience for your own personal life

One of my friends has that really compressed and angled handwriting, and he absolutely is extremely stressed all of the time and he can be quite aggressive when it gets to him. It's so interesting that it clearly shows in his handwriting. (He's getting therapy btw) It's also interesting to note that one of my other incredibly socially anxious friends has very similar handwriting to Jeff Dahmer, just not angled at all, sometimes a slight backwards slant (this person is also in therapy) 👀 Edit: loved the vid btw!!

When you spoke about the felon's claw, I immediately recognized that I do this a lot in my handwriting, in the lower zone. I thought to myself that I don't really get why I do it, because I value honesty a lot. Then you brought up the guilt towards sexuality and I was like 'oohh, I get it'.

Bruh, it's not that deep. There's literally a book that says, "Right-handed people most likely write in forward slant, and left-handed people write in backward slant." It's the book for writing in kindergarten. 🙄 Also, people have their own different styles. Just respect it and don't be so nitpicky about it. Correlation is not causation.

This video is completely ridiculous and it's extremely dangerous to promote these kinds of messages. Fun fact about me. Once, in High School, I was writing in my journal under my covers (I was supposed to be in bed), and the awkward position I was in meant that my writing was slanted forwards a ton. I've always had pretty messy handwriting, and I always felt like it looked a bit childish, as if I was still learning to write and hadn't mastered it. The next day, when I noticed the extreme slanting I had from the night before, I thought it made my handwriting look way cooler and a bit less messy looking, and so I started writing slanted. I literally just started slanting my writing because I thought it looked cool, nothing else to it.

Honestly, ever since then I’ve been quite intrigued by graphology and start to think of it whenever I write on paper. Question/comment for anyone reading this. Has anybody else noticed how someone’s writing/penmanship will vary by where they are from? For example, I work somewhere where I get to see people’s writing daily from many different parts of the world. & I’ve noticed that people from Mexico for example will have a distinct penmanship (all very similar) then people from Asian countries will also have very similar writing and so on and so forth. I find this to be so interesting! There are days where I can now even guess where the person is from before even officially finding out. What does this have to do with?

Having an over slant can also be people who were more dominant in one hand, but schooling early on insisted on making that person into the opposite, the slant will come from trying to hold the paper in a form that gets you the best looking writing. I’m well past school years now, but I sincerely hope they no longer try to force left handed writers into learning to use their right hand for writing for who knows what purpose in life.

I had the Angled compressed trait when I was in later years of school, I also wrote in cursive sometimes which made it look even worse. When I was in school I would lash out at my friends and I would hurt people in Pe without thinking about it, I was prone to outbursts as a kid but I always regretted it afterwards and I nearly hurt my friend because of it. Also the spaces in my e’s are nonexistent. I definitely needed more support in school than I was getting, I had to be work twice as hard as my classmates just to get a pass, while they got 7s and 8s. After I left school that trait disappeared(for now).

Or maybe writing smaller and smaller means I am running out of room on the page lol.

I just looked at a page from a course I was following. I got it as a memory. Looking at the course leader's notes today, I see that, except for two words, all her notes went downward. . She has later been open about that she actually was planning a suicide at that time of the course. She loved teaching, though. . So there is good reason to ask gently if you see that. ❤

coming from someone with anorexia, you can’t just see handwriting that gets smaller and chalk it up to something as massive and detrimental as an ed. idk if i’m overreacting but that’s insane to me that anyone could reach for that kind of assumption based off of basically nothing. i do think you can tell a lot about people based off of their handwriting but this all seems like a massive stretch, and you can’t just overanalyse things without even knowing a person first either because it massively takes everything out of context: everything can’t just be a red flag ?? also the other thing that was bothering me, an ed isn’t a ‘red flag’?? it’s a genuinely dangerous mental illness and anyone that has one knows how much it messes up your whole life. idk but that just pissed me off

As if having social anxiety wasn't bad enough, while searching for calligraphy for beginners, I came across this video, and now worry about being rejected by others because of my handwriting. Something else to mention to my therapist. I mean it is fascinating. Just not good news for me.

Man! When she said that "shrinking handwriting" means a person has anorexia, she really hit the nail! My handwriting has already become quite small and guess what?!?! I have always had food related disorders. Although it's not anorexia. There used to be a time when I had anorexia. The food related disorder I, now, have is ARFID. This seriously blew my mind.😵‍💫

For the 7th point, i do both. So taking into consideration what languages the person speaks could change the intention behind it a lot. For example, since primary school i was taught french as a second language (my first one is Arabic) and they taught us the calligraphy form of writing, whereas when learning English in middle school there were teachers who separated the letters and others who wrote like french, and personally for aesthetic purposes i angle the french writing while keeping the separated English one straight

This is a very specific question, but if my i dots are very close to the stem, so close that it's practically become part of the stem and isn't even a proper "dot" anymore, what would that possibly imply about me? Thank you :) Also when I write my lowercase d's, the circle and the line tend to actually separate from each other a lot by accident. Same thing for the two lines of the lowercase y's, but I try to fill in the gap so that they actually look attached, does this imply anything either?

I have a question. Are there any graphology books you would suggest for someone who is new to it but is interested in learning about it?Also another question would the line you write first also important for example, say you write a "T" and you draw the horizontal line first while another person person draws the vertical first. Does that mean anything?

Lil story: I had a super sweet and fun sub teacher once. He was really outgoing and looved to talk about himself (which would get annoying after a while). One day I walked past his table and his “diary thingie” was open. I got so shocked when I saw his handwriting because I’ve been watching these videos for a while and have started to remember/notice some of the different traits… well imma try to explain his handwriting. It had the most forward slant I’ve ever seen. Like imagine putting a square where every side is the same length around one of the letters, his letters would go from one corner to the opposite. Also it was kinda impossible to differentiate between the different letters because they all just looked like straight lines. It wasn’t possible for me to do a lot more of analysis but I remember it like filling out the entire page, not much gabs in between anything and also it looked quite hard. Like I would imagine my entire arm cramping if I had to write like that. I don’t think there was much difference between each letters size as well, like they all started at the same place of the paper and ended at the same height. I asked him if he had written that and he said “yes, I use it to get out my thoughts.” And “I have quite the old school handwriting.” Should I be scared?

A friend with OCPD has the EXACT overly-perfect writing as shown here. But she writes with her non dominant hand. She’s a pleasant and easygoing person to know.❤ I have a modest left-slant and do the stylised “times new Roman” lower case g. Think what you want, i suggest running from me for every reason EXCEPT my handwriting!

I don't know if it's a safe space to express my opinions here but I think it's kind of social control to allocate personality to a type of hand writing.

Wow 5:29 , angles = anger. In my English class (highscool) I always wrote extremely small and angled, with a slant, with the "serial killer d". I was extremely frustrated with life, had an extremely short fuse, and had boundary issues with others. I'm not saying handwriting can dictate who you are as a person, but I believe it's another form of psychoanalysis. Now I'm 23, write in all capitals and my handwriting is as if it's another person. Yet when I think about it, mentally I am a completely different person.

very interesting video. I have a question though, what about people who have dysgraphia? I have dysgraphia and as a result my handwriting is quite inconsistent in the sense that if i write more than a couple of sentences my hand gets kinda worn out and becomes progressively less legible. As a result, i don't really write too much, mostly when i do, its in print/uppercase. However when I draw i don't have the same problem, and I like making graffiti tags, which i guess is a different brain function (conscious drawing vs subconscious writing). Even though my handwriting is quite messed up, I didn't find any of the features listed in your video in my own writing. That makes me feel better haha, but it also makes me wonder if graphology can be used to analyze people who have dysgraphia

i like to do this for fun because dissecting people’s minds in silly ways is interesting to me but this also led me to become very concerned for one of my classmates. i thought her handwriting was strange (serious back slant, very compressed and tall with heavy pressure,) and then i started noticing that she doesn’t often show up to class. i’m hoping she’s doing okay and that she isn’t going through something serious

When roll sheet passed around class, I tried so hard to write differently but my writing still came out larger than everyone’s, bubbly, and you could see my name on the sheet from across the room. I liked seeing other people’s writing and think it is amazing how unique we write. BTW, it was a mostly male class with just two girls. Great video ❤

Hi Leah, sort of have a question of whether you've seen siblings having similar handwriting, traits and such? To be honest I've been wondering about this for a while, since I've seen that one of my close friends has almost ~identical~ handwriting with her older sister. Obviously there must be some different traits(that probably went unnoticed by my untrained eye)but if she hadn't told me when i saw her sister's handwriting, I would have just thought it was hers. 5:06 this is relatable when I am severely stressed this looks like my hand writing people even say that it looks like a signature but normally it's the normal milder version of compressed handwriting because I write too fast sometimes

I have THE most angled and compressed handwriting when I am the more calm and peaceful, cause I just find it more pretty to write this way and my hands are actually much more relaxed than when i write with a more normal angle-round handwriting of when I am under pressure of time (also I am left-handed, so this plays a big part in the angle as if i place my hand like a normal right-handed writer i will make a mess of the ink, so i HAVE to place my hand above or below which result in angle if I'm relaxed, I actually have to tense my hand in a weird way to take out the angle). I also do make serial killer "d", and all of that to say that I have a lot of flaws but anger is not one, I am straight-forward and like honesty, but i will leave any situation where there is aggressivity, tension, or any sign of violence and i am referred as a "soft and sensitive" person by my family and friends. It looks dangerous to be so categorical in the judgment of a person's character based on handwriting... It seems a bit shortcutted. (And btw the most hypocritical mean snakes I met, were all writing flower-like with absolute rounds and no angle, I've learned to really be aware of these)

Great video Leah! I love your handwriting analysis videos :) anways some other red flags I would look out for would be the “I”s (as they can give you insight into the way a person views themselves, wether the I is tiny or huge, both would be red flags) And I would look out for x-formations

okay I've got two fascinating little happenstances: first, I freelance typesetting books and I often have to really think about fonts in ways regular people don't have to think about fonts. in this particular case a character wrote a bunch of letters and the author wanted them to look handwritten. so I was going insane because I couldn't find the perfect font…until I found one where the g's were exactly like those g's you showed and I was like: this is the one! don't ask me why, I just thought it vibed with his character. get this! the character was a man struggling with deep guilt about his sexuality because he was secretly in love with his male best friend. now the second one: I was watching this new tv show the other day called daisy jones and the six and I noticed the titular character did that thing where they don't really respect the lines of the page. and I thought of your video where you mentioned this before, but for the life of me I couldn't remember what you said it meant. well when you explained it here I was like, whoa that is fucking uncanny. because the character is exactly what you described, kind of free spirited but toxic idk how you phrased it but exactly that. idk I just think it's fascinating to think that maybe humans unconsciously pick up on these things more than we give ourselves credit for. fascinating stuff!

I think you can inherit a writing style. My Mum and myself write our capital F backwards in a cursive, which I when I read a letter from my Mum’s Mum she does the same. It’s the strangest thing and it’s the only letter we do this to, folk are confused by this as was I. When I try to write it regular style, it just feels forced and looks odd so just don’t bother now as I thinks it’s a cool family thing. 😊

What could you infer from handwriting that keeps changing drastically between sentences, words, even letters? I.e you could find multiple fonts on the same page, whether round/spiky/print/all caps/cursive/big/small/gothic/comic sans. It looks like different people. When I sought answers there didn’t seem to be much explanation or examples as drastic as I’m referring to.

But if i changed my handwriting, do i change my personality??

I've read at least 20 books on graphology, and the last chapter of each one was "Let's Do Some Analyzing". Then I always ended up saying "How the H did you get that?" I could always use the contents of the same book to completely contradict their conclusions. But it all made sense when I saw a show on PBS starring Alan Alda where they debunked it. Graphologists make a lot of false claims. What I have concluded is that writing is nothing more than hand gesturing. There is a lot there, but it's not a precision science. I don't seriously disagree with anything she said here, and from experience, I can certainly vouch for those felon claws.

I know someone who had the reverse thing with her g's and y's, and she was really nice to me, and sat next to me in history during my sophmore year, but then I found out that she was assutting her boyfriend, so yeah.

sheeeesh i started doing reverses in my lowercase gs because they look pretty. i also do wobbles in some of my letters because i'm thinking too fast for my hand and i am trying not to get ahead of myself. my writing often gets smaller because i want to fit everything on one line. kinda hooey

The pitch of my letters depends on how I am holding my paper. Being left-handed, I tend to lean my paper to the right, causing my letters to lean to the right.

In my personal opinion, while handwriting does reflect one’s character, you should not become accustomed to forming an opinion on someone’s character solely based off their handwriting. Because, in the end, you’re jumping on conclusions and assuming which is not very reliable. Yes, one’s assumptions are sometimes correct but that is no reason to make them the foundation for your judgements. Your assumptions can be sometimes wrong. Not that graphology isn’t enjoyable, it is! We just shouldn’t use it as a means of judgement.

hi! id like to ask a question about handwriting.. i hear a lot about right slants and rising/falling baselines but what about left slants and baselines that both rise and fall? i know that in my handwriting, i have a noticeable left slant as well as a baseline that rises and then falls/crumbles at the end. i dont find too much about left slants or these types of baselines and id really like to know what it means if you’re alright with me asking. thanks!

It’s crazy how some of these I see in my own writing and how it matches some of my thoughts.

I used to rip the page when writing and have a lot of warping. right now my handwriting severely changes every once in a while (sort of in a circle at first its one type of handwriting then another then back to the first one I know you said handwriting can change but mine changes by a lot) and sometimes its extremely sharp, angular with heavy pressure and I emphasize angular. Like it is way more sharp then in all of the examples in the video. when my handwriting changes its more light and less angular but very tiny (to the point that its illegible by even me sometimes) and still compressed. I am in therapy
