You can play any riff on any guitar. Most audience members don’t care, and can not hear the difference. Also, the guitar tone doesn’t need to match what on the record. A different timbre adds interesting nuance and originality. Guitar companies want you to think the opposite. They’ve helped cultivate this myth that you need a large collection of guitars to “cover all bases”. You, my good man, had a choice of whether to debunk or perpetuate this myth. You chose to perpetuate it. As I see it, you are part of the problem.

that's not fair. even if you are playing les paul, explorer, washburn or dean or any exact guitars that were used to record the riffs, it wouldn't sound good with that little amount of gain you had.

jimmy playinghardball2 it would be easier to dial a metal tone with the gibson, and the electronics wouldn't need to be as cranked. but its a common misconception that single coils cant be used for heavy metal. they can so long as the effects are dialed in for it. If done right they can sound almost indistinguishable to humbuckers in a mix. Even solo, you just have to compensate with some extra compression, high threshold noise gating, and an even half decent drive/dist combo, nothing TOO fancy.

Sorry, guys, I didn't wanted to "sound/look" rude, I just wanted to make it "look/sound" like a joke, a sarcastic commentary. Now, I never really tried a pc program such as GR so I think I should as soon as I can. And hell, I don't know what brand of cheap guitar you have, but mine it's some shit like "Smithfire"... WHAT IN THE ACTUAL ASS IS THAT SHIT!? I really shouldn't complain about it cause it's my first electric guitar, but man, I hate it a lot. I cannot make it stay tuned, I can't play chords further than the 5th fret or it will sound like shit and hell, I don't even dare to touch the vibrato bar cause that shit would detune a full or 2 steps down. So... Are you so fucked as me?

Robert Baker you know most of those songs were played on a strat right... like the only two i know of that werent are sweet child of mine and welcome to the jungle... but that one was actually played first in a strat because slash's les paul was being worked on... Now seek and destory.... strat.... Thunderstruck.... strat.... War pigs.... strat.... And the others were written on a strat

The first 3 albums Kirk Hammett used a strat on about the same as what you are playing. So seek and destroy should be played on one. He didn't switch to ESP guitars until and justice for all.

A tele especially with it's high output bridge can play anything with a noise gate and a mesa. I have a fat and standard strat, tele, lp, and a schecter and the tele often sounds better than the lp with gain depending on the use. great clarity, just not as good in d standard compared with the lp. All running through a Mesa Triaxis (basically a rack mounted mk.4)

I have seen Billy Gibbons use everything from a Telecaster, Les Paul, Reverend, or even an Explorer to play "Tush" on. His board and amp have more to do with his tone than anything else.

Kk Downing played a strat in the early 80s with Priest, Joe Holmes played a Strat during the Ozzmosis Tour with Ozzy, Gary Moore during the 80s, Jonathan Nordwall plays one with Enforcer. And of course Malmsteen played with them during his entire career

If one is playing a gig most of the people listening won't know and won't care what 'type' of guitar is being played. In a blind test I think that a LOT of people will not even know the difference between a humbucker and a single coil pick-up.

+Jason Patrick De Leon - I do the same thing - I always observe the instruments (when I can see them clearly). As a Strat player, I would not use my bridge pickup for these songs. I found that the middle pickup is better for such songs. You need more gain and some modification in the tone setting and you get quite close. Not humbucker sound of course, but a decent guitar sound.

::sigh:: I know this vid was done in fun but there are many ways to fatten up that tone that were not taken lol. Obviously those are not "Strat" songs, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't and I agree with you until you got to Tush. Roll off the bridge pickup and my "Tush" sounds pretty good to me haha. My first Guitar is a copy Stratocaster Standard by Greco and i don't have problem of playing any kind of Riffs on it. For me if you have a good Distortion, Overdrive and you know to get a right level of Control Knobs in your Guitar and Effects, you can play any kind of Riffs that you want.

Nice video as always. I think those songs were heavier songs, so if you would have played them with more distortion and a little more low end using the bridge pickup with the pickup volume all the way up, that might have worked, here is a challenge then, a stray, playing these songs, with my settings. Haha!

Tony Iommi had actually used a Strat on the first half of Black Sabbath's first album before the electronics died (at which point he switched to his SG). Also, some pictures of AC/DC from their earliest days show Malcolm Young using a Strat on stage (along with Angus using a Gibson ES-335 and sometimes a Telecaster).

Who makes the rules?You can play any kind of music on every guitar.Jazz on a Telecaster,Psychobilly on a Flying V,...Malcolm Young played a Gretsch White Falcon on the Back in Black Tour.Tommy Iommi normally wanted to buy a Strat but he couldn't find a Lefthand model so he took the SG.There are no do's &don'ts in Rock'n'Roll!

Oooh C’mon. I love your videos but this is ridiculous. The problem here is not the strat is your gain/amp setup. I know SSS is not the typical “go to setup” fot high gain music but yo CAN play all of that on a strat sounding muuuch better.

Ahmm nah bruh I play Seek and Destroy in a Strat and not just that but I also played Pantera, Megadeth, Slayer, Disturbed, SOAD, RATM, GnR, Slipknot and not but not the least is Metallica.

Billy F. Gibbons played a Strat in early ZZ TOP. He used no holds barred Marshall rage to get his point across. Dusty too. No Line 6 nonsense. Maybe you need more cowbell!

I play these on a strat.... With 500k pot 2 twin blade humbucker scorcher trails at the neck and mid and a hot rail at the bridge for low end. Pretty much sounds like a Gibson Explorer.

If you don't properly use the same pedals used in the songs obviously they won't sound good... oh, I imagine this guy will also think that for each pedal there should be a specific guitar, hahahaha...

all you need is just a fucking hi gain single coil set. actually, you don't even need a pickup modification if its considered that those great head amps are yours. GUYS PLS STOP BLAMİNG YOUR FOKİN STRATOCASTER.

A strat or even a tele is a great guitar to learn on for a metal, hard rock, or blues player. You'll need to develop a heavy vibrato, good Dynamics, etc. Then, switch over to a humbucking neck through guitar and rip everyone's face off.

Use a proper amp setting and it will sound good. Not perfect, 'cause a single coil isn't a humbucker, but good. Take a strat with humbuckers and it will sound even better. A les paul can be equally crippled using bad settings. This videos point is not valid.

They sound fine on Stratocaster to me. How about some Iron Maiden that in your opinion shouldn't be played on a Stratocaster. You know you can't play metal on a Stratocaster. Just ask Y.J.M or Dave Murray how bad metal is on a Stratocaster.

I only have strats soo, i play everything I can play on it .. honestly I prefer the sound u "actually have to work for " Only a random youtubers input but ...In my experience the straticaster is the hardest guitar to play..but well worth the sound

I am not interrested in Black Metal anyway and the BM sound... I am a traditional rock lover! And the strat is probably my favourite guitar.

Actualy this strat has a rolland simulator pickup on it, you can play prog djent math metal with a turn of a knob!

Sounded pretty good overall actually. Dial in the eq and drive on the amp right and you'd never know. Also coincidentally I was playing Raining Blood on a Tele earlier this week.
