Hey! Saw your comment on Robin Waldun's video and decided to check out your channel. I'm not really a guy with much time for fiction, but I saw some of your videos in spite of my initial disinterest, and really liked your edits and communication! You have a passion for literature that honestly is making me tear up a little right now. I hope you continue making your videos, I truly envision great success for you! And I can honestly say I have been correct about these visions multiple times here on youtube, haha(in particular about this one little 3k subscriber channel about a brazilian football that in a few months managed to become the biggest in its niche with nearly 200k subs today). I truly believe I can fall in love with literature again through your fun content!

I too was going to mention Swan Song. Another one few these days recall is Gore Vidal's "Kalki" Which isn't the lengthiest of Apocalyptic tales, but it weaves actual history with additional fictional narrative somewhat seamlessly. Another of my favorite series is of course "Left Behind" until towards the end when it get to be a bit to preachy which it had been able to steer clear of for the most part during the saga. One last series and it isn't exactly apocalyptic as per the definition however it is by far the best Dean Koontz series, "Odd Thomas" which the books are a pure joy to read.

I’ve recently tried my hand at writing a post apocalyptic book because even though I love the genre I felt it’s all become sort of stale and wanted to a try a fresh spin on the zombie narrative. I would love to hear your thoughts about it if you have the time, though it’s probably not that good since it’s my first book. It’s called Deadeyes by JoVontae T.M. James

Thank you for this list. I decided to read all the books in this presentation. I'm done with Girl with all the gifts now. I'm about to start The stand but I'm kind of afraid 'cause you told that it's a big volume....so I need to prepare my self. I like Station 11 and Girl with all the gifts. Especially after The road. Bird box is somethjng else. I have questions abour Gary, why he wasn't exposed to desease.... and I need to know were they any creatures or what was the cause of all this madness. Yeah and from the begining of the book I had this question "how are you going to go out the house with 4 y.o. kids blindfolded....?"🤯 But ofcourse I get it after reading the book little deeper. It's incredable. And Melanie, oh, that little girl is took my heart. Sweet little thing. It's pitty for sergant Park. I hoped that Helen got pregnant from their one night together and they will have that blond girl of which he thought during his starting desease....and she will be new hungry ofcourse. At the end he was a good man and deserved to leave something of his own on earth. Well I hope that other books will be fascinating as well. I'm very much like your voice by the way. It's like from movie you know the voices from trailers and who telling the story behind the scene. I think it's pleasant for people's ears)
@PaperbackJourneys
@PaperbackJourneys 4 месяца назад
Oh wow what a nice thing to say haha. I'm actually a voice actor too so I'm glad you like it. I agree with pretty much everything you said here with regard to the characters. The beauty of Bird Box is in its ambiguity I think. Seeing things from the perspective of a group of characters that don't know what's going on makes it all so much more scary and disorienting. I think you'll like The Stand but, you're right, it's a HUGE book! Thanks so much for commenting Olga!

IDK if your trying to avoid spoilers but your descriptions are so vague as not to really produce anything that would compel me top read them. Good example is the hyper violence of Cormac MCCarthy quite frankly have no real use for it and think he is over-rated but you say so little actual about the story in such vague terms WTF should I read just because it's the Last of Us without the infected which traditionally are really zombie's but the story arc is more compelling I think than The Road.

About all these American apocalypses: look, you lot already *had* John Christopher. (And seriously, some of those hold up really well, even now.) And Big Finish’s ongoing The Survivors series is a worthy companion to the original.
