The problem with left foot braking is everyone does it for wayyyyyyyyyyyy to long and then is slow as shit. Theres track in ac where i dont even touch the brakes if you know what your doing.
There is some things i still need to learn but overall I think I'm decent at drifting... Me in FH5: > brakes with the left foot > leaves space for leader x doesnt brake for chasers > leaves the hand off the handbrake > manual transmission x only 720° wheel rotation, but I started with 540° and worked my way up > uses first person cam > rewinds > uses a car with 450 hp > limited hand movement
Haugen is exactly the reason I didn't buy a handbrake, you really just need it for high-speed drifts to get your back right or correct angles. Great video goose, this is gonna help a lot of people for sure!
@@jdrifts5938 forgot if your not in vdc your not any good.... honestly ive been drifting since 2010 irl ive had lessons from luke fink who then proceeded to bash in my drivers door, ive smashed into Denofas door, ive had stewy bryant smash in my back doors, im not arguing with you over the correct useage of a bitch stick but if the only way you can enter fast is on the bitch stick you need to go practice more
What I love about goosiest, is that he is unlike other RU-vidrs who just ignore their fanbase after a couple thousand subs, he still makes it his number one priority to read, heart, and reply to comments, that is why I love you and respect you so much, GOOD LUCK ON THE WAY TO 1 MILLION! I know it's not much, but I will follow you all the way, thank you VERY much teaching me about drifting And fun fact, although I don't have a wheel, (I play with controller on an xbox, I play Forza cuz it is available on game pass which is really cheap cuz I can't afford carx XD), I decided to learn drifting just to be like you! I've been always depressed and stressed for a long while now, then I found your channel randomly a couple of months ago, AND I LOVED IT! You were funny and informative, you helped me with drifting mechanics and tuning So yeah, thank you for guiding me through my darkest times goosiest :D
I don't tandem I'm bad at it but when I'm drifting near other players, I do follow the brake if you are going to hit them rule. Also seeing as I play on Forza instead of carX I hop into pause menu when I spin out.
4:26 I think its way easier to drift with first person and I like it more, but some cars in Assetto Corsa have the cockpit view so low that you can't see anything which is quite annoying😑
So I got my mom into sim drifting a little while ago.I put her on my Logitech wheel with the Thrustmaster shifter and pedals(clutch included) for her to start. That’s when i found out that she actually used to drift irl. When I found out about it she had heard me talking about an irl drifting event and had already bought tickets for me and her months in advance and we’re going this weekend in Tennessee because that’s where my sister lives. I love my mom.
You forgot one: rev matching since it helps keep the car balance and minimize the weight shift while changing gear, also helps keep momentum (and listen to eurobeat cause it gives you extra 200 hp and an extra gear on any car when you need it)
The handbrake should be used to correct any mistake during your run or transitions, if you have to use handbrake to initiate, you should learn how to do the Scandinavian flick.
@@mniakan754 not necessarily, if you watch formula drift you can see them flicking the car to initiate drift. If you use handbrake to drift you lose a lot of entry speed and especially during comp you dont want that.
Wheel rotation topic: 900 is what most of the drift cars on IRL uses, for gaming if you are on a cheap wheel (like g29) you would use 700 or 540 if you're using competition cars, Vicotr Alves, one of the best VDC drivers had a g29 and used (i cant quite remember if it was 700 or 540) this low rotation becuase g29 couldnt keep up with the vdc transition pace
I respect all the cases! ^w^ Except reset, i firstly judge if resetting is needed or not, if i can avoid resetting i avoid it because it's more realistic like in real life. If you are good drifter, you can stay on track without disturbing other player, that's the end game level. Anyway, you forgot a last sign, pro-drifters prefer horizontal handbrakes, like using low power cars and much harder full stock cars, using horizontal handbrake is more difficult to master and it's more realistic like any cars have horizontal handbrake full stock and pretty satisfying to do. ;) It was very nice that you talk about the hand placements, a saw many time even with IRL pro drifters, arm crossings that trigger me.
Man i enjoy every vidéo even if i dont put a thumb up on every vidéo you making , love sim drifting was on rc drifting New to sim drifting and really a pleasure to understand every part on That with your video.
xd im using left foot braking basically everywhere, where i gotta drift: tight corners while cop chase in gta, speedy touge runs, the crew 2 rally and others, that is way better than handbrake imo
Honestly I’ve been playing fh5 for about a month and a half and because of goosiest my drifting while still on a controller has gotten extremely good I’d love to show a clip
for anyone planning on drifting IRL try not to get used to handbraking while the clutch is out, because you will destroy your drivetrain IRL if you dont hold the clutch while you handbrake.
I don't even have a handbrake to use, so I only do weight transfers and left foot braking. I had to learn how because of not having a handbrake and I am so thankful for that inconvenience :) eventually I will get one but I still don't think I will use it as often just because of the fact I haven't used one this entire time during my learning process. Id love to get on a server with you sometime and do some practice runs and learn from you bro.
I started on 360 degree steering went to 540 then 720 then full rotation. I learnt pretty quickly how to drift with 900 degrees so I think everybody can starting from 360. But you gotta up the rotation every time you get it down
I still haven't gotten anywhere close to figuring out how to drift with my wheel lol, but i will be switching my wheel to 900 if it's set higher. I kind of prefer the lower rotation numbers because my disability makes my body a shitty place to be almost always, I like the driving experience but I'm not sweaty enough to care if I'm at max realism when it comes to impacting my shoulder which was never quite as good after the surgery. I'm also really not convinced about an h shifter being overall better than the paddle shifters for when I'm in a manual mood, but overall i enjoyed the vid and the tips will be filed away for use as soon as my body lets me do racing again without causing a puking level of neck pain for a week. fingers crossed!
on xbox I unassigned my “a” button (handbrake) so that muscle memory when I press it nothing happens it helps a lot teaching you if you use controller 👍🏻
With gear boxes I used to do a/t I didn't like M/T So I settled with S/T or sequential it's like manual with an automatic clutch but in carX i still put a clutch petal for burnouts and clutch kicks.
One thing I've gotten a lot better at not doing, is making excessive inputs. I feel like a new person watches some FD foot cam videos or a ken block video and feels thats how they should be driving. But the problem is, they dont understand what and why they're making these inputs. In any form of motorsport, less is more. Only make inputs or adjustments as needed to keep the car in line.
Great video! Can you please post a video of your wheel settings and settings in assetto corsa I recently got a t300 but I can’t find any videos with a wheel set up. Keep up the great work!
I was so good after this I even know how to do a 360 on my own in FR legends (Hint) in FR legends to do a 360 u Need to hold the arrow any way Then let go of the trottle Boom easy
So goosiest since you already did a initial d race with modded map in carx , I want you to do it again but with left foot braking and gum tape death match Tip for g.t death match: don't rely on the wheel -Ryosuke
When the lead use the brakes is just leftfoot to put the car in place or make small corrections, not always its to wait for the chase, thats chase work not lead work
The same it is for circuit racing prepped cars some guys would reduce wheel rotation by about half a turn each side to get sharper and faster control. Which would make it around 720. Since it was a decade ago today it might be even more hardcore in that regard. And by default you have a standard 900 degree on cars. I wonder where 1080 degrees are even used, some Trucks maybe?
0:50 poor hand brake Btw video ideas: try using your logitech g29 again gta 5 storymode mode drifting/ Fivem police escape drifting Play forza horizon 1 play driver san fransisco
the chaser has to basically be wary of the front and follow the line without hitting him. Get close on the slide and be ready to back off for the transition then slide again.. Something i noticed a lot its another reason why i like to chase besides it looking awesome. Its irritating af when your in the lead thinking your doing your own thing and you have the space but that one guy is always hitting you pushing you.
my wheel has 2 settings. 900 and 270. The and funny thing is I'm way more comfortable to drift in real life than in game. Idk why but I dont due it to often just the actual feed back of everything and having full understanding of my car vs a game car that I can change everything on and dont know what everything has done
