In this episode of DD, Aaron goes over 10 really cool and vintage Ford Dealer accessories from back in the day. Many of these accessories could be used on any Ford vehicle and some were specific to the Dentside Ford truck from the 70s. Either way, they are all really cool and exemplify what made classic vehicles visceral compared to modern day computerized trucks.

I really love these old dealer accessories. A good one not seen in this video is the dealer installed AC. They are hard to come by these days and I just don't have on at the moment. Thos systems were cut into the dash and had totally different parts than the factory AC. Also, you think Dana Corp shipped those computer boxes from Korea or were they made here? IDK to be honest.... Enjoy the episode!

I'm kinda wondering when you are going to run across the swing out step or the fancy behind the seat lock boxes .

@@TurningGuns So the swing out steps were a non-Ford accessory and I actually do not have a set. The Ford dealer behind the seat lock box/gun case is probably the single most rarest Dentside Ford truck dealer accessory, so much so that I have never even actually seen one in person or for sale ever. They are in some of the brochures.

@@DentsideDepot I have the lock box , and have a truck that was fitted with the swing out steps although they were removed before I took ownership. When I was doing research on the steps, basically wondering what the extra holes and fasteners were about, I found the swing out steps on eBay in Ford boxes. I didn't purchase them however. At that time , around 2014, they were asking about $300 for them. The lock box was acquired by adopting a project 79 250 plane Jane that had a fresh C6 and 203 if I remember correctly. I was looking for windshield wipers and if I needed a part for my truck I would sooner get a parts truck with new wipers or tires or whatever, drove the ol lady nuts, lol. So I found that "wiper" truck as an abandoned project for free and that's how I ended up with the box.

Hey Dentsidedepot, I just hooked up my CB radio up in my 78 c10. I used an A.S brand antenna made in 1968. The CB is a radio shack realistic C.B. out of the 1977 (engine donor)- Gmc motor home. Works pretty good.

I think I paid 15 bucks for those NOS ones, but I bought all this stuff years and years ago before the values are what they are now. I have NOS items I paid 50 bucks for that are now easily worth 10-15 times as much or more.

I've got the dealer installed cruise on my 84 f250, however it has an aftermarket delay for the wipers so there's more than 2 speeds, would that have been a dealer add on?

Fuel economy gauge. Harking back to the fuel crisis of '73. Gas was rationed or sold out. The factory installed rhe Uhaul ones into the dash- either a guage or a yellow light that lit when you goosed it. They also had RPM limiters.

That vacuum "tank" was an Hawaiian Punch can painted black with a couple of fittings attached. Hawaiian Punch used to be sold in large cans, for the young among us. It was a reserve tank for the bigger trucks for brake booster.

0:36 You're wrong about the fuel sentry. The decelerate area is where the guage reads while decelerating. It is not indicating the "driver needed to decelerate if [vacuum] was getting too high up into the green."
@DanielinLaTuna
@DanielinLaTuna 4 месяца назад
That’s right; it indicated maximum vacuum the engine can be considered an air pump, and on deceleration the throttle plate in the carburetor is fully closed while the rpm’s are high - a condition that results in the “air pump” drawing against a closed intake, hence the highest vacuum. Whereas when the throttle is wide open the vacuum is lowest.
@mwilliamshs
@mwilliamshs 3 месяца назад
@@DanielinLaTuna you're mumbling. Nobody needs an explanation of how the guage or an engine works. The Depot kid mistakenly described the meaning of "decelerate" as indicated on the guage.
