I'm a first year college student and I'm 52 years old! Your 10 study tips were great and I'm putting them to use. Keep up the great work! 33 years out of school and then returning is a little daunting but, I'm doing it.

I saw one ages ago about studying with a certain candle each time you study because the scent will become associated with the subject. Because none of my professors would appreciate my whipping out a candle during exams, I got a different scented lipbalm for each class, and wear that class's balm to class and during study sessions, as well as during the test. I have no idea if it actually works, or if it's placebo, but I have found it easier to get better grades after starting this. The only down side is that I now have to carry 3-5 different lip balms, but at about $3 each, a $9-15 investment that can potentially boost my future earning power is definitely worth it, even if it is just me convincing myself it will work. Convince, self, convince!
@fidahaq9729
@fidahaq9729 8 лет назад
+EmileeArsenic lol did you really whip out a candle during an exam :') but yes i have a similar method where i listen to certain music while studying and just before an exam i play this music while reviewing the course content. Don't know how effective this is but the study music really helps me focus and my focus is kinda linked to this music now

My nursing exams were all electronic so I actually used the tip you mentioned. I'd go through the whole test and answer everything I knew for sure. Anything I didn't I'd leave unanswered and then I'd see if any of the questions related or gave answers to the ones I didn't know. It actually works to help you either select the right answer or narrow it down to 2 possible answers. Glad you shared this yip BC not many students realize this.

music can also help in recalling, just like recalling your study area. Whenever a song pops up in my head, immediatly something I was doing while listening to that song pups up as well. So recalling a certain song might also bring up whatever text you were looking at at that moment

If I have time left before my exam starts proper and I already have my scrap paper, I make a mock multiple choice sheet and number it before hand. This way, I can cross out all answers I know aren't right quickly and then I will come back later to choose which of the remaining options is the right one. Sometimes, I'll even catch myself having slipped up when I reread the question. This also goes well with other tips in this video.

I use active recall by using Flashcards, and use the Flashcards for studying, and how I did is making sure that I review the material before studying for the material. The flaws that I struggled with is learning from memory, and although I use Flashcards I am student with learning disabilities, and I have anxiety when it comes to my grades, so I want to face my fears, and not performing well. The common causes of why I do poorly on tests not to bring my self down, or feel lowly of myself is.. 1. Not getting enough rest. I actually practice mindfulness before I sleep, or read before bed. 2. I’m not using active recall. I am already using active recall just depends, which study method for active recall works for me. 3. I can’t take all the advice because it’s overwhelming for me I am a stubborn person myself. I’ll only take the advice. If things don’t work the way I wanted them to actually. 4. Understanding information to study for a test, quiz, or exam. I need help with this and I am a visual learner that’s bit more of read/write, and auditory learned. 5. Sometimes I forget to check if I am missing any information I am going to sure after reviewing, and use for studying. How can I make sure that I am not missing out any information? 6. Lastly, I am an anxious, stressed, and depressed person actually I am making healthy habits already. After practicing mindfulness my mental health, and overall well being are improving, although it’s in progress.

Here are a few tips: 1. Use active study methods (like creating quizzes) so you can end study sessions knowing you've accomplished something. 2. Spend a couple minutes at the end of a study session mentally reviewing (or, even better, writing) what you went through, and what still remains to be studied. 3. Take a break between subjects. 4. Try changing your study location. Hope this helps!

4 Study Tips discussed in the RU-vid video that I found relevant was to have a cheat card exercise which can help me with active recall and important information. Another study tip that I found important was to create quizzes out of the material on the test and take them. Studying while out on a walk is also an important study tip because it's something unusual. The final study tip that I found interesting was to create a schedule and free up time for studying by making small time slots to complete smaller tasks throughout the day so that there is more time to focus and study.

to view tests as beautiful bursts of information is to also have money in the account to make up for if you dont pass the class. I'm here on a pell grant and i want to keep my grades as high as possible because if i get lower than a C, money is pulled out of my account to pay for that class. professors got a tendency to throw out the huge numbers of exams worth your bank account if you fail it. so it isn't just test stress, it is financial stress too. a double whammy...

Wow Thomas Frank, fantastic video! These are all great tips. I agree most with the idea of making a cheat sheet/ practice exam. Getting that core information down is critical to making information stick when the test comes around. I'm also really digging the animations and image clips. This makes study videos way better to watch opposed to some slow lecture. Keep up the good work, Tom! Can't wait for the next one.

Tip for you, when you are studying for a text while transferring over a spine at a skatepark; , make sure to lift your back truck over the lip when you go over the spine. Eventually you will hang up, slam, probably mess up your textbook (making it worth less when you try to sell it back to the book store), could break your collarbone, wrist, skull, or give you a bad hipper. Just saying... thanks for the tips.

My SIA tests are this week, plus my SAT. What the SIA is, is that I have to take a test for every class, every nine weeks, on everything we learned during those nine weeks. I am really nervous for my math and science SIA, and my SAT. I lack a lot of motivation, so hopefully some of your videos will help!
