Dynamite presentation and good detail for these advanced techniques. Regarding tip number one, asking the right question, this can also help others. As a graduate student, I stopped in the professor's office just before class and discussed my specific area of difficulty. The professor used my question to start off the class. I think he realized "if this guy doesn't get it, maybe others are confused as well."

This channel is a blessing, I'm 28 and decided to go back to shool (1st year japanese), I have been working very hard from september on, but around the end on october I got sick and felt I was working a lot but not really knowing if it was efficient or working, and I have to say I felt very discouraged and found myself doing less and feeling guilty about it. But thanx to this channel, I found out what I was doing right and what I was doing wrong so I know what to keep, and it makes me hopeful and enthusiastic again. So thank you VERY VERY much!

come on we all know how to study. 95% of the people here started studying the day before the exam and realized they didnt have enough time to catch up 2 months of stuff so they look for a miracle method to study faster.

Mnemonics and Loci are two effective techniques that works for me. Three years ago I hate memorization but now.. I love it!

The Method of Loci is incredibly tedious and time consuming, but it's brilliantly effective. I used the method when I was taking up Plant Taxonomy and we had to be able to identify 500 - 700 species of plants in the field (plants' morphology change much depending on different factors which makes the subject incredibly hard and is feared upon in our college) including their scientific and family names by the end of the semester. Thanks to this tip, remembering latin names came easy. Thanks for the info by the way, I'll try implementing the other techniques in my studies.

I wanna learn more about the focused and diffused thinking and how to alter the state of mind to do so. Since just turning away from stuff and walking around isn't always effective if your brain is being stubborn with the topic fresh at hand.

I like them because, as you say, many techniques given in college texts and classes aren't that effective. You use many that I use, and then some. It's great that they are available online for ease of access and use. You can tell by the number of views and subscribers you have that these techniques exist in the, as I say, no BS zone. Well done!

I'm already using Anki to learn French and Russian. Love it. And if I make one side of the "card" a picture, it almost feels like I'm playing a game not studying. But it is effective nevertheless.

I really hit a wall when I was studying for my exams, this really helped. It's difficult to get studying but I find that when I actually get into it, it becomes much easier, but if I stop for like a day or 2, I find it really hard to get back into the groove.

Sometimes I record myself reading my notes and then I plug in my earphones and its gets in my head forever

Also, I like the concept of focused versus diffuse thinking and it's relation to the promo door technique. I also agree with your suggestion to use a calendar reminder tool, especially now that I am aware of akrasia and increasingly spaced intervals for better recall. Thank you.

I've been using the method of loci for sometime without knowing it was a thing. I used it especially when I have to remember vocab words 15 mins before a quiz

Fabulous is a habit app I use to "pull myself together". I have three routines I use everyday and of couse you decide for yourself how many and how long those is. Among my routines is "studying" and "reading". There is a timer that you can pause and play and i love that i can hear music while the app is active. Also it gives a little sound when you have been doing your habbit for i while so you don't have to look at your phone all the time and there is also a little icon that show how long you are in the progress. Good app for keeping yourself at work and for getting new habits 😊

I really want to get into the car industry as an electrical engineer but I always struggle with math. Just started physics for the first time ever In my life. Computer science grad working on masters in computer science.. Okay. For people in stem... This is what I have for you. Sacrifice everything. If college is not the worse 4 years of your life. The rest of your life will be. Work. Every. Single. Day. Take ten years off your life expectancy. Find the right people.. This is big. Hang out with the right people. This takes a degree of sense here. You need to hang out with the best if you want to be the best. Be honest. Suffer. Never give up. Study tips? Memorization? Nahhhhh.. Stem is about understanding, having passion, and kicking ass.

i was so done with those ' plan your study sessions ' ' listen to fun music ' ' put chocolate between passages ' and the i realised that i use loci on my history class . i CAN'T do history :D so i put a gossip scene in my head then i tell everyone i know trying to make it funnier and cleaner as i go . and it works A LOT

I had someone once say that simply thinking of rooms didn't help him, but he liked the imagery idea. He would create outrageous but vivid stories with all the information sprinkled into the story, and tell it to his friends in class as if it was a juicy bit of gossip or something. I think it helps with having to remember straight facts that are kind of hard to tie together otherwise.
