This video is not so much a Re-upload but more of a remake as its the re-working of an episode I made last year but only left up for a week and took down as I wasn't satisfied with it, so I've made changes to make it better and I've added lots of new bits so its all cool, enjoy :D

Could we also say Thomas F. Wilson playing Biff Tannen was also what makes this movie a masterpiece? He's the antagonist, but he's just perfect in every way.

Supposedly Daniel Stern was in the running for playing Biff. I could see that based on the film "Coupe Deville" where he plays the oldest of 3 brothers who drive a Cadillac from Detroit to Miami and is somewhat of a bully to his 2 younger brothers. He is in the military and has a similar demeanor to Biff.

Back to Future got my thru a tough time..I was 13 when it came out in 1985 and was being heavily abused at home.While being ashamed and not telling anyone I searched for an escape.I found a temporary one in BTTF..During that summer I would scrounge up enough money to see the early 11:00am matinee showing and would try to stay past the 10:00pm showing..This movie was magic and was the perfect escape.I would sometimes even try to sneak in to showings of Teen Wolf if I could..But Marty was everything I wanted to be so I would lose myself in the movie seeing it over 30 times that summer..So if anyone who ever worked on BTTF happen see this I would like to say thank you.

There's actually theory called the *30 years nostalgia cycle*, which basically says that people who were kids or teenagers during a decade will eventually revive it in some form 30 years later, where they are in their 40s and 50s and generally have stable lives, capital to spend, and are in positions at film companies, tv networks, etc. where they can imprint their nostalgia into entertainment that is then shared to the rest of the world. There was 50s nostalgia in the 80s, and I definitely saw 80s nostalgia throughout the past decade. I have also seen 90s nostalgia grow and grow for the past few years and fully expect that to continue until 2000s nostalgia comes around.

I would be super super excited to see the Eric Stoltz version. I watch the trilogy over and over again on a fairly regular basis. So this would be something new and fascinating. I don’t care if it’s not as good, I kinda just desperately wanna see it because it’s such a mystery. I wanna see what Eric did with the character. It’s like an alternate timeline, an alternate character that brings an alternate view. It’s what Back To The Future is all about and it could never take away anything from the theatrical releases that are masterpieces. But it’s a missing piece of the puzzle. I’m certain I’d love Eric’s darker more serious portrayal of Marty. It’s just something different. I hope it does get released in my lifetime.

Probably closer to 90% would be my guess. I suspect they shot nearly all of it with Stoltz fully knowing they would substitute Michael J. Fox. I suspect that because there is ample evidence of that having been the case. Plus I think they were close to wrapping it as far as principal photography. Meaning Michael J Fox was likely substituted for Stoltz.

@christopherfoote4643
@christopherfoote4643 Год назад
@@incognoscente I'm not saying it was done to replace Stoltz. I think it was intentional. I recently saw the film again and it was apparent Fox was superimposed upon Stoltz. Even then they were able to deep fake (not sure what else to call it) the actor into the movie without having to do a retake. The scenes were, I think the ones that had dramatic effect. Like Fox taking a swing at Tannen and even the ending. Except for the scenes that included Claudia Wells. Those were retakes. We don't really have to guess what the end result would be. We have it! They used Stoltz and substituted Fox. Probably intentionally. It made a good movie but I think it might constitute misuse of an actors interpretation of a movie role since Stoltz obviously made the part his own. The skate chase scene has Stoltz acting the part of a double. The last scene showing Fox at home probably wasn't a retake. It was the part Stoltz liked the least and it's my least favorite part of the movie, too.

No, they didn't shot any of the scenes with Jennifer which was supposed to be played by Melora Hardin. But when they recasted Fox as Marty they also changed Jennifer actress because Hardin was too tall compared to Fox. I think half or about 2/3 of the movie was finished with Stoltz as Marty.

Yeah that's pretty much what I suspected with the possible exception of the ending which Stoltz objected to and arguably the worst part of the movie. I suspect Stoltz was a little more than simply a part. I have a suspicion he made Marty work with the script in a way that is still a part of the film. He clearly added dramatic effect. I think that's painfully clear. He made the movie much better. Certainly Fox made the part his own but only as a sidenote to how Stoltz created the part. It seems pretty clear the part was mostly Stoltz. Only partly Fox.

Minty - this is, by far, my favorite video you have ever created. I graduated high school in 1985 - and this is probably the ultimate 1980s movie as it links 80s kids with their parents who grew up in the 1950s. I've always wondered about the Eric Stoltz footage and story so thanks for doing the research! You should do more videos like this: the Richard Donner Cut of Superman 2 would be a good example. Thanks, man! Minty Rules!

Yeah - Richard Donner Cut of Superman 2 is a totally different film! Not as good, I don't think, but it still worked - and fit very well with the first part to make the story complete. But definitely worth seeing! 🙂

You can watch the storyboards of the alternate nuclear plant ending on the Blu-ray special features. Budget constraints were another reason they reworked the ending to be in the Hill Valley Town Square, which works much better anyway.

The Stoltz version could line up perfectly with a "90's nostalgia kick" if we get one. Maybe once Peak Tech rolls over soon.... Stoltz is a time traveler from the 90's (and a big Matrix buff) and goes back in time to the '80's to film a movie about the 50's.

BttF was certainly one of the first movies that prompted us all to bootleg on weekends; the studios own greedy fault for making the movies way too expensive to buy on VHS at the time. Wasn't until Batman 1989 had a $30 release after the cinema run concluded, that the fuckwits conceded to public demand and reduced pricing.

I do too. And I think that Alan Silvestri even scored the scenes with Stoltz. I say this, because on the second disc of the first release of the original soundtrack from Intrada, there are earlier recordings of the soundtrack, and they have more of an edge to the sound of the music, as well as a bigger orchestra.

Biff being some kind of waxing car detail seems preposterous to me. Maybe a mechanic or maybe salesman or whatever it was he thought important. I guess the part about his dad writing a novel was o.k. It was strange either of his siblings would be there. Wendy Jo Sperber died. Stoltz didn't like the ending. He probably would have insisted on a rewrite and so they shit canned him that's the only part of the movie he wasn't a participant to. And it sucked. It nearly ruined the movie.

Doc n Marty = Rick n Morty My high school class showed Back to the Future, as a fund raiser, in an auditorium projected on the big screen in 1990. We charged $5/per or $10/family. It was packed. Hundreds showed up, mainly from church folks. We made $ from snacks too. As a 17yo, I had no idea we were pirating a movie that originally was a movie about movie pirates! @stargazer1682
@stargazer1682 Год назад
My headcanon is that there was an earlier, so far unseen timeline in Back to the Future, where Marty, who in this timeline bears a striking resemblance to actor Eric Stoltz, uses Doc's DeLorean to travel back to 1955, but fails to get his parents together when he accidentally interferes with history, and is erased from existence. The ensuing paradox results in time shifting back and forth between two timelines, one with Marty and the one where he's been erased, centered around Hill Valley and the effected period of time. Ultimately this causes wear on the space-time continuum, like someone pacing on the same stretch of carpet; and the effected space-time begins to distort, causing additional variations in history, which further distorts space-time. Left unchecked, space and time would collapse around the effected area. But as it should happen, one of the new timelines produces a version of Marty who, thought he goes back in time endangers his own conception, actually manages to get his parents together and insures his existence; creating a stable paradox and a segment of space-time that's actually stronger against tampering for it. This is partly the reason Marty and Doc aren't immediately affected by the Hell-Valley timeline Old Biff creates, because those changes would undermine the stable paradox they previously created.

As a die-hard BTTF fan, I'm very glad that the rewrites occurred, and that Universal were willing to pony up the cash for the necessary reshoots to allow Michael J Fox to play Marty. Also, having Doc Brown's pet be a dog instead of a chimp was probably better from a safety standpoint, as chimps can be quite vicious when stressed.
