And last comment get some backer rod or window trim and stick it in your seals. If its like mine your seal will be connected on 1 side and kinda a lip facing out. I stuck double sided window trim stuff and it widened my seals enough to stop most sub 110 km noise. (The window trim stuff was right next to the backer rod in my us hardware store.)
My 96 GTB is holding hella strong was well taken care of. 195km on the clock. Just fixed a code 66 with some fourm help. Subbed to keep up with GTB stuff ;).
Oh man the dreaded cold start fuel smell. You need to chase down that leaking fuel hose and replace it asap. Had to to that on my FXT. And get some new window gussets to fix that wind noise (2 of the 3 Subies I owned also had that issue). Nice GT-B otherwise!
Nice video, I own the first B4 RSK imported in Canada, just got the cup holder issue but it is not too bad compared to VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda from this era. I don't have a massive VOD since the car is tuned for 94 octane and got a specific tune with bigger fuel pump, mod 10 etc. My only issue is the OEM brakes and 5speed gearbox that are not great. Otherwise cheap and underrated car, mine is making 340 hp and i can keep up with my friend Evo 5 and i destroy VW GTishitboxes.
Thanks man! That's actually wild how you're pushing big numbers while keeping the twins, only notable car I've ever beat was an Elantra N and ik damn well Evo 5s rip haha. I've heard about the hose 10 mod a buddy with a B4 actually recommended it to me a while back but I honestly don't go WOT enough for me to decrease the VOD as of now.
To have the full potential and the reliability of the EJ208 you need a tune since there is no 100 octane available in Canada, the twin turbos are hard to tune. I went to Drive Hard/ Project Lambda in Richmond BC to get my car tuned. I know they sell the tune but idk how it works but since the modifications were done but it is so smooth and amazing to drive. One tip for the twin turbo driving, try to quickly tap your accelerator pedal when you are stop before doing a big acceleration. The sweet spoot is at 2400-2500 RPM, same thing for downshift on the highway i can easily go from 5th to 3rd gear to have directly all the boost (5000 rpm / better heel toe lol for the gearbox). Also try to do your oil change every 5-6000 km, don't put a cone or modify the engine if you want the car to last. If you want more than 350hp it is better to go single turbo but the 5spd gearbox is not best but it is stronger than the US version and know so ppl that have 450hp with it. Amazing chassis too especially when you have good coilovers and semi slicks tires. One of my favorite car i owned with the Renault Megane 3 RS and it is a cheap sleeper but it needs tlc. @@GTBmarvel
It is actually tuned by project lambda, it was done when the car arrived in Canada. I'm running a 91 octane tune and launch control aswell. I never knew about the tap thing I'll have to try that out sometime. Still running stock airbox, silicone lines, aftermarket intake pipe, and BOV with a couple other little things here and there so I think the motor's good enough. I thought about running a catch can but I'm not sure if that's necessary. I plan on building a street car on a better platform in the foreseeable future so this is just a show/daily car. I actually just got bags last week which will probably be a video in the future so I'm pretty excited. And those meganes are track demons I love those things.@@skippylegrandgourou2069
@@GTBmarvel Perfect! Yeah keep everything stock, i am thinking of putting a catch can too. Basically rev the engine a bit so you will have some boost, you can launch it at 5000 rpm but rip your gearbox lol, i did it one time the car was so fast but you need to have a perfect clutch use. The EJ208 is pretty reliable if you do the maintenance, i saw one with 350.000 km on it. Otherwise it is a nice daily and not too bad on gas if you don't use the turbos lol. Bags gonna be interesting on the GTB but the wheel arch are not amazing so you can't go super low. Yeah drove the Megane RS on the Nurburgring it was so much fun, i love the Twingo RS and Clio RS too.
If you are sure you engine can handle the mollywhomp you should stay high rpms if you time it just right when you shift outa first and you should keep out of the VOD on a dig.
