Great video! One point of clarification is the drive knob on the buses does not give you the "Harrison sound". The original Harrison consoles had high headroom and low distortion. The goal of adding saturation in Mixbus is to impart the effect of what tape does to the signal which is why the drive section is first in the signal chain. You can think of the Mixbuses as an 8 track analog machine being summed down to the a 2 track Master tape machine which is what the Master bus is.

This is an example of how tutorial/ informative videos should be made. Power packed with information yet very short in length. I've already got Mixbus and I know it's great but the thought of spending hours in learning a new DAW made me hesitant. After watching this video I know the key strengths of Mixbus and I'm pretty excited to install it and fire it up! Thanks much, really appreciate!

It's actually a surprisingly improved workflow to get a mix balanced AS YOU RECORD due to it's layout. It's like the old consoles - everything is right there in front of you. So when you're in the studio tracking a band, but they time they walk into the control room to check out the mix, you've already got it sitting pretty. No other DAW is as time-efficient. No plugin-pop-ups required.

Wow, how did I never hear of Mixbus before? The "real console feel" combined with integrated analog style functions with EQ and compressors built in -- this seems brilliant. I do so much of that manually and it requires interacting with dozens of UI popups. I will absolutely try Mixbus after watching this. Thank you.

I just tried the demo version of MixBuss 8 - The workflow has seriously cut down the time it takes to complete a mix and I get better results too. I mainly just mix stems and I have tried Cubase, Reaper and Presonus Studio One and I definitely think Mix Buss beats them hands down in terms of workflow. I know the 'non-32c' version only has 8 busses rather than 12 but for me, 8 busses is quite adequate for most projects. Definitely going to buy it-great piec of software!

Be careful with the saturation. Even though it sounds great, It’s on by default and can mess up you mixes. I make a template with all the saturation down at the start of a session

I find mixing in mix bus to be way more fun then my other daws, it really is similar to the joy of live sound mixing. I’m you can get a sound going fast and the if you need plugins you can set em up to work without having open the plugin window with little sliders in the channel strip. Also it sums in a uniquely exciting way I love dragging stems in and having the exciting thing that happens. Looking forward to mb 7!

because mixbus is not a typical daw in that it intentionally colours the mix, the trim also allows you to selectively drive the signal for more colour pre-fader.

I just bought Mixbus V7 yesterday for the last purpose you mentioned. Stem mixing. I record and mix in Ableton and I do have The Slate VTM Virtual tape Machine and VCC Virtual console collection that gives the tape sound and the Neve console, 2 SSL Consoles a Trident console and an API console and an RCA tube console and Sonimus Britson Neve emulation. These get used in Ableton.i figured if I get a mix sounding done then render the stems and import in Mixbuss I can then add the Harrison console sound for last bit of flavor on the final stereo mixdown to send to Disc makers Soundlab for fresh ears to do the Mastering. I've used Ableton for so long that I couldnt imagine not using it.

I only ever Folder Tracks in Reaper, I like having a group handle like on a console, and I can still solo within the group. ITs fast and easy to keep organized. Using SWS, any fader named Master, gets colored red, when I go to do final mixes or do stems, I pretty much only deal with the Red faders.

Dude, that's what I do. Mix stems and do some slight automation. I have several DAW's that I work in like everybody else, I do is some rewire from one to another. That's how I do my main work as far as like a Workstation. And then I export an import into Mixbus. That's where I do my mixing and mastering. And oh by the way I picked up a special for $19 😱🤗🕺along with 3 $1 plugins. Yeah, you know it. Happy Mixbussing to you..Peace.

Yes to all of the top 10 and kudos to Harrison for emulating a real console. The thing I'm hoping to do with Mixbus is incorporating MIDI sample library sounds, where the analog console 'glue' would be perfect. The challenge is the MIDI implementation. Re-watching Unfa's 2-hour Ardour MIDI Masterclass ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ACJ1suTVouw.html might help.

Hi, I'm trying to understand the issue here: For imported audio tracks which have tempo changes, Mixbus doesn't keep the tempo. After import, the tracks are messed up. Even though they're all starting well from the same position, after a while some of them are becoming slightly longer. All of them are having the same properties (24 bit 44.1 KHz) and the Mixbus project is set the same and it doesn't matter if I let the default tempo 120BPM, or set a tempo track, the issue is still the same.
@groovekingdom6552
@groovekingdom6552 3 года назад
If you are Reaper user you would have guessed how to fix the timing issues....In reaper you would ahead of time set the type of tracks where your audio will get imported to....and that way..it doesnt affected the tempos of your imported projects

@bakharandi
@bakharandi 2 года назад
Cubase is a DAW that recently added their "Mix Console" in version7, and it took a few versions to work out the qurky bugs . . . . Harrison IS a Mix Console, that recently Added a DAW. Other than that, Cubase has its own Sound. Harrison has a real Analog Tape Sound. Samplitude also has a very nice Sound. I personally have recorded in Cubase, and mixed and mastered in Samplitude. Since then, I now record my Acoustic projects in Samplitude, and finish in Samplitude, which has an amazing Mix console, that I prefer to the Cubase mixer.. However, I tried an earlier (Non DAW) version of Harrison Mixbus (Version 2), and I enjoyed the Sound and feel. I am now interested in adding the newest Harrison Mixbus to my toolbox and take their tutorials, to really utilize the classic bus, sends, and Aux style mixing.

Hello how are you? I have purchased Mixbus 6 I am using it with Mojave. All the time the DAW "Forgets" my AU and VST plugins ... only the native Mixbus plugins appear. I've really screwed up a work in progress because it's impossible for me to be re-scanning the plugins every time I open the program ... I had to go to Reaper because I can't work like that. I see that there are many complaints with this problem. It would have been convenient to know that it worked like this before buying it. Is there any solution for this? Thank you very much for your help.

So why use Mixbus just for Reaper stems coloration then? Doesnt make sense, easier to apply tape sat effect on stem export in Reaper, isnt it? Mixbus is ridiculously handy just for the mixing itself, you get faster workflow and better sound. Reapers Editor is glorious but Reapers Mixer just sucks in comparison.

Fixed eq frequencies in a daw??? , how stupid us that? One saturation to add some color, imo opinion you are more versatile and flexible with inserting a saturation plugin or any plugin that adds a special color, I do not want to have always the same color in every project, how boring is that. Applying Harrison's saturation will use more cpu for sure, so a plugin would better imo. You hear about the color or high quality of Pultec, Fsirchild, Api, Neve, SSL, but Harrison ? . Afair Bruce Swedien once used a Harrison console. Do they have a channel strip plugin?, that would be more interesting than a complete daw. I see, to have the features of Reaper with amendments is the goal of this daw... Does is also have some stock plugins, which ones? Are the plugins they offer included? The main and known advantage of Reaper is stability and small gb size, what about Harrison? It seems to be a different and special daw, thats interesting. What's the daw's size in gb? Keep on!
