100! All cats can be trained! You just need a little patience and to find what treats they go crazy for!

I watched my Mom do obedience training & hunting trial competitions with her dogs. I have decades of experience working with cats to compare. I agree 100%! Dogs want to please you & respond well being told what's expected of them. Cats are best treated gently by request & motivated by food to reinforce positive behavior. Dogs are pack animals so they'll follow directions from the Alpha (Boss). Cats are independent creatures so you must establish a loving bond 1st. They'll comply if they trust you. They're completely different mindsets.

I adopted a 10 yr old shelter cat 2.5 years ago. I don’t think she’d been abused but she sure is stand-off ish. She’ll lie on my lap for 20 minutes of back rubs, but ONLY TWICE has she ever even given me a gentle book!! Trust me, she’s a pampered, loved kitty. But I sure would appreciate a gentle book on my nose occasionally!!😊😅

@@mrs.dr.spencerreid3992 So nice to hear from you. Thanks for replying! She’s my 4th kitty over 35 yrs of welcoming cats (and dogs) into my home/life. I went to a local shelter in February, 2020. It was right before the quarantining began here in Denver, where I live. It was the first time in over 30 yrs that I didn’t have a fur baby. (My previous precious kitty had died from kidney problems, about 18 months before that time.) I said I was willing to take an older cat. I stay home a lot, with my own physical problems, so I was looking for a snuggle buddy. When I entered the room she was in, she IMMEDIATELY came up to where I was sitting. Purring, head butts, climbing on my lap and rolling over so I could see her shaved belly. She’d recently had a kidney stone removed and was spayed. It was love at first sight. I took her home, a Black/White tabby, aka a Tuxedo cat. She settled in beautifully. She has her own bedroom in my 2 bedroom apartment. After the first day home she became skittish, almost never letting me pick her up! It actually is for the best cuz I live in an adult community, with a front door which leads out to my front porch, and people come in and out frequently. Because she’s such a scaredy cat she bolts to her bedroom whenever someone come to the door. She gives me 2 sessions/day, where I can rub, pet and sing to her. Only twice since Feb 2020 did she gently brush my cheek with her nose! I tried to make a calm, encouraging deal about it. Have never had it happen again😔. I don’t know her back story. She’s a well-mannered cat who always uses her litter box, almost never wakes me up and doesn’t tear papers, etc. As she gets older she sleeps more & more every day so I’ve learned to be grateful when she takes a nap in her bed, next to me, on the couch. She’ll stretch out & talk to me sometimes. Her presence is a joy, for sure, and I hope she’ll live a long time. I have her on special prescription food, per the vet’s suggestion. But to be honest, I wish she’d let me give her kisses! And not make getting her into her carrier to go to the vet, without making it a wild ride in here! But she’s mine and I love her. So, here she stay with me! 🥰

I taught mine to give me his paws for treats and when they're all gone I just shake my hands and then he'll stop. It's adorable.

I have taught my Strays to wait while I get there food together, they are so good, but we ALWAYS get a Newcomer that tries to break up the flow. My Strays will quickly get the New Guys to understand that we have order around here 😂😂 I wish I could get my indoor cat to go for walks on a leash and ride in a car like this cat, but he doesn’t like leashes or collars 🙁

@@Lokey21 Trained the strays? Now THATS an accomplishment. The one stray I fed was so skiddish. It took 2 years for me to just pet her.

How well did she respond to the difference in pressure? I always get plugged ears but I also understand it may vary from person to person and even more from a person to another creature with different physiology. Yawning to equalize pressure by opening the ear canals should be universal, though.

I didnt even know cats can be on your lap in a plane. Thought they had to be in a carrier. Is she an emotional support animal?

My sister also takes one of her cats on a walk. The boy loves it, but her female cat hates walks or going outside lol

Cats wanna get out and see life too… they get bored being stuck in the house.. my cat would jump on the table peek out the blinds and sit there like she was a person people watching… we always said she was a person deep down❤

Cats have 300 million neurons on average, whereas dogs have 150 million. They are very intelligent but fiercely independent and don’t seek approval like dogs.

That's because this is a Bengal cat. Their personality is more like a dog.

Some people have the knack for training cats. My daughter has 4 cats she has the ability to train them too.

Are they OK with being strictly indoors?

@@bethlawrence9077 they do fine indoors if you spend time with them, but I put a 10x20 kennel outside and covered the top, put in a cat door and they loved going out.

My neighbors Bengal cat is outside permanently because he tore the house up and screamed and cried all the time. Now he kills all the birds and is all scarred up from fights. Even missing part of an ear. He is a very nice cat but has made a mess of my lawn. I have a hard time believing they make good pets. 🙂

@@bethlawrence9077 how far away is he from the wild cat? Mine were F4 and that means they are four generations from the wild cat. The closer you get to the wild cat the worse they are.

@@jackiegillespie8354 thank you for the information. I didn't know about the F4. I saw my neighbors cat jump from the ground on to the roof of a house. It was incredible. When he runs, he looks like a cheetah. Long legs. Beautiful. I just wish he didn't poop on my porch and yard. 😀😃
