So true. One day, you'll graduate and you probably won't be seeing most of your chohort ever again, so make the most of your high school life. It's literally a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I have one more term left (10 weeks) of high school, and the exams next term, and let me tell you, i regret no LIVING in my younger years as if it were my last. Time flies by SO FAST as you get older. This isnespecially for my fellow Aussies, who grow up with their mates from year 7-12. Good luck.
I wish I had taken the classes and my grades way more seriously. I also wish I had taken more classes in summer school to leave my schedule open for electives and special courses I was interested in during the year.
im actually happy that you didn't say the exact same thing that everyone else says "sTaY aWaY fRoM uPpEr ClAsSmEn" "nOt EvErYoNe Is YoUr FrIeNd" "dOnT bE tHe FrEsHmAn ThAt GeTs LoSt On ThE fIrSt DaY" could you talk about something else people-
;Aesthetically Emily; : omg same I went to a relatives bday party (they were all 10ish) and they made everyone line up for a picture and *dab*... including me 😂 and this was in 2019 (March?) when dabbing was already dead 😐
Top tips I received: 1:Dont "try to look cool" and make a scene of yourself, it will set your bars low. 2: If your going to copy something(papers or sum) then put it out of order, and change a lot of words. 3:Dont be mean to look tuff 4:Do what you want, and what you like, not your friends. 5:Make at least one friend, and if you cant, then talk to someone who looks like they also cant. 6: this tip is for making friends. To make friends, just while partner activities, ask to be with them, then you have to socialize. 7:For the love of god don't date seniors 8: Dont lisen to random elders. 9:Have fun and dont think "I will look stupid" or "What if" 10: set goals for the year/term 11:dont be a wuss. 12: DO NOT do drugs Edit: 100+ likes thank yall
Rando Bob LMAOOO DONT DATE SENIORS💀oh n alsoooo what do you do if you wanna find all your classes easy like do I ask ppl or do I just try to find it my self?
@@katiequispe8454 You can try or attempt to find it yourself, but if you dont have a friend to find it with ask the upper grades, like they arent gonna be like "Ew" its just as if the lower grade asked you, they will help you to skip their class lol
• don’t shout out to your friend in the middle of the hallway • never block the hallways (if you’re going to walk slow don’t be in the middle) • take AP and duel enrollment classes (dual enrollment is good for over the summer) • online courses are your friend • never do the bare minimum (ex. take 4 years of math/science, and at least 3+ years of language) - colleges love this • do extra-curricular like sports and clubs to meet new people • take classes that relate to either your interests and potential future jobs • nobody cares what you wear and nobody notices/cares if you wear the same shirt or something twice • getting a B or missing a homework assignment isn’t the end of the world... in the grand scheme of things, it’s not a big deal • ask for extra credit or help in class if you are struggling • enjoy highschool, you only have 4 years. make some friends, talk to those people next to you, try new sports/clubs, go out with friends, live life.
Freshmen 1: wear deodorant and take showers daily 2: don't run in the halls or stand in the middle of the hallway 3: You can talk to upperclassmen and ask questions but don't be overly bearing, it's annoying. 4: HS isn't that bad if you pay attention in class and aren't trying to hard or be cool or whatever. 5: Try to make friends on the first day. If you have a couple good friends throughout high school you'll have a great experience. Good Luck Freshies! edit: thanks for all the feedback guys! the take showers daily was kinda just telling people to shower. you have no idea how many people i’ve sat behind in class and smell like b.o. please just wear deodorant. and lots of people are nervous on their first day so don’t be afraid to talk to people. Hope you have an awesome first year! p.s. it goes by so fast. i’m already done with high school and i’m going to college next semester 💕💕💕
Honeeeeey freshman year isn't scaryyy❤️❤️ the first day may seem scary but take this advice: TALK TO NICE PEOPLE. you will become friends and everything will be easier.
@@mariaskorchelletti8925 same for mee. this last week before school i was soo scared of going back. I loved going to school but then i got social anxiety and it all changed
This comment section is loaded of freshman but the question is.....is there any 8th graders here?!?!( You gotta know this stuff the second I walk into the door on the first day you know what I mean? No?....ok) bye awesome human!☺
Emily G I’m in eighth grade and I’m so scared about high school. I’m probably going to get lost and have another panic attack... but at least all of my friends in my middle school are all going to the same high school as me, even everyone in our giant friend group.
i’m terrified for next year. i’m gonna be a freshman and i have really bad anxiety so idk what’s gonna happen. my school is literally 7 different buildings and i know i’m gonna get lost :(
I’m going to be a sophomore next year! Last year I was scared to death for school! My school is massive like yours! I had an upperclassman walk me through the school multiple times so I knew where my classes were and by the end of the year I thought my school was super tiny!!! Don’t worry it will all work out in the end! Also don’t be afraid to ask anyone for help!!! And it’s the first week teachers won’t care if your late!!!
girl wyd My high school literally was like a castle. I’m switching to a smaller one for this year. My advice is to just try and not be so worried, if you get lost the first couple of days your teachers will understand and more than likely not even mark you as tardy. High school can be a living hell but just go with the flow and be yourself. It’ll be okay :)
1. Take at least 1 AP class every year to boost your GPA 2. Do your homework 3. Don’t walk slowly and don’t stand in the middle of the hallway 4. Take at least 1 class that you love (for me it was chorus) 5. Go to every dance your school offers to make some good memories 6. Ask that guy/girl out 7. And lastly, have fun and don’t stress too much, high school doesn’t last forever.
1. Don't juul, especially in the bathroom, it's annoying (plus it's a huge expense you cannot afford) 2. DON'T SKIP CLASS, you are going to regret it, trust me 3. Become friends with your teachers! They exist to help and nine times outta ten they have a sense of humor 4. Get to know upperclassmen. They're not as scary as you think. They love to help you out, and if you're lucky they might take you to lunch and give you some more advice (NOTE: usually it's not a good idea to date them either if you're a freshman or sophomore) 5. Take some challenging classes even if you don't feel like it. I promise when college comes, those classes will have been worth it 6. If you can, do your homework in class or during lunch so that you can have a life after school. The sooner the better, I promise That's it, hope this helps💕
esme anderson bc they think it’s cool, when in reality, hanging out in a dirty middle school bathroom during lunch and juuling is honestly just pathetic. They then brag about it afterwards and I overhear them in class.
Sarah H I remember having tiny hallways and groups of like 6 girls (not being sexist, literally 90% of the time it was all women. Just a statistical fact) taking up the entire hallway then giving u looks if u accidentally run into them
I'm going into high school next year but just from middle school I can tell you that I I freaking hate it when they're just people standing in the middle of the hallway socializing like I like to get to my locker grab my stuff and get to my class I found that if you get to class earlier it's better than walking in last minute cuz you already kind of are set up and ready to go while other people are still trying to pull out their stuff also me and my best friend are literally afraid to socialize with anyone that isn't in the 9th grade
i really needed this, i am starting my first year of high school in a month, and i am kind of nervous. i know you said not to thank you, but thank you anyways :)
im less nervous, because i have a cousin who is going to be a senior at the same school, so i have a little bit of an advantage, but im still really nervous :/
Peyton Self Yes girl, befriend upperclassmen. They can give you all the advice you need about high school. As long as you're not one of those entitled freshman, they won't hate you. The whole freshman bullying thing isn't true. The Seniors are too busy with colleges to even take time to bully underclassmen, Juniors are too busy with AP classes, Sophomores are likely to befriend freshman. I cried watching my senior friend's graduate, that's how close I became with them. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me!
Peyton Self I can't say much about AP because my school didn't allow freshman to take them, however I did take honors classes. Taking AP classes are good because even if you don't pass the exam, you have experience to better yourself in the future. Also colleges would rather see that you tested yourself and tried hard by taking difficult classes. My advice is study your notes throughly, and everyday for as long as you can (whether that's 15min or 2hrs). If you feel yourself getting distracted, take a quick break. Don't overwork yourself and know your limits. Also if your teacher gives you an optional study guide *use it* . I once saw an AP Bio teacher give her class and optional study guide, then she told them that they can use whatever they wrote down for the test.
The most important thing u need when you go to high skool, is earphones/headphones. It blocks out all the fake people, makes you feel good, and it understands you. You concetrate more and it makes you feel like its just you in the world and everyone is not there
KK Nottingham brooo I’m gonna be a sophomore now and freshman year was fun actually. High school is way better than middle school. I made a couple new friends this year and it was great. Except for the virus and stuff.
Edgar Ortiz DONT. i know it sounds bad but kissing your teachers asses and pretending u care or showing you care makes them like you a lot and keeps ur grades up
Emma Nuella I was scared when I started too but trust me after a while it’s not that bad just try to stay out of drama and just a tip, try to do homework at school like maybe at lunch or in classes when you have time
It’s genuinely not that bad, I’m class of 2022. If we’re back to learning in school for the new year, try to go to open house and learn the ways to your classes. Skipping class is really worth it, people will make fun of you if you skip in the bathroom 😭. Keep your grades up, it’s easier to maintain a 3.0+ gpa than to have like a 2.5 gpa and try to bring it up. Don’t feel pressured into taking AP classes if you don’t want to. Lockers aren’t really that important, especially if you don’t have all 7/8 periods in one day. It’s kinda annoying when people take up most of the hallway to talk, so don’t do that. Your freshman year, you won’t actually be able to “choose your classes” unless you took some courses over summer, depending your school, two of your electives will be P.E. and Health.
it isn't that bad if you prepare yourself properly and let go of middle school, start off high school with a fresh slate, don't put up too many expectations, understand your schools academic or sport rigor, so you can understand how to get by, understand when you should drop a class, so many people are scared of it, but from experience, I wish I dropped from my honors alg II class, my mental health is still severely damaged from it. Volunteer hours! get those in during your freshman and sophomore year, as school is going to only get more rigorous and stressful. AP classes and Dual Enrollment should be given thought, but only take AP classes that you are INTERESTED in and have good teachers, I wish I knew this before my AP exams this year. Go to club intros, and only stay in clubs you are passionate about or can benefit from. Force yourself to make friends, everyone is new to the school, and scared to break out of their shell, so go ahead, start new friendships. Befriend your upperclassmen, they can and usually will become your mentors throughout the school year. Take the more difficult or unappealing classes during summer school, if you are able to! Befriend some of your teachers, so that they will be able to provide good advice, and later on, good recommendations. also, prepare your college list the summer before junior year, and do tours during the school year, and start your college apps at the end of junior year, begin by asking for recommendations near the end of the school year. (If you need any more guidance or tips, heres my insta @aleena.lejm)
my mom who uses the defense “you’re an above average student”: *must’ve been the wind* also, oH MY FUCKING GOSH YOUR NAME IS AMAZING I LOVE IT SO MUCH NEWSIES FANS ARE EVERYWHERE AND I LIVE FOR IT AHDGSHDBDHSHDHDB
ALSO I NEED MORE ADVICE! I'm scared of entering highschool, all I want to do it change, I heard that in your freshman year seniors and older kids will be picking on you and saying stuff, I just want to be smart in arguments like that.
Starting sophmore year this year... I’m gonna die... Core classes I’m taking: Pre AP Chem AP Chem WHAP Pre AP English 2 Pre calculus/college algebra And most importantly... Band
Lauren. I want to get into an IVY league school hopefully but unlikely Soooo more realistically I want to go to UT Austin but I need a scholarship cause of the cost Also that’s what my mom tells me too rip 😂
hey :) i just took WHAP and thought you’d like to know a lil something... it’s a pretty large amount of work/info, but as long as you do your assignments and remember essay formats, you’re pretty much set. also, i’d suggest studying a decent amount, but spread it out over many days. i have a really good memory, so i didn’t study much (barely at all) with the exception of the day before the actual AP test. also, john green’s Crash Course videos on RU-vid are the best, as well as study sets on quizlet. last but not least... DONT PROCRASTINATE! trust me, you’ll reach a point of stressed-out-edness that you’ll kinda want to die. good luck! 💕
In my town high schools are either 3 years or 4 years. If you go to high school which is 4 years you can go to college. You can’t exactly chose how much years you will go to, it matters of score you get on “exam” for high school. Wish me luck to go to 4 year high school.
Littearly im a freshman rn but its the fourth term in 3 weeks and I still haven't been in the school. But these three next coming fridays they're doing freshman orientation. It makes me emotional I couldn't enjoy my first year of highschool and last weeks of 8th grade :C.
Unfortunately, in my country, you don't get to choose classes. They don't care about student needs, so yeah, they just put everyone in the same class even though not everyone is equally good in a subject, nor does everyone learn in the same rate.
Idk why I keep watching these videos, I'm going to be a senior this year. But I mean, good luck to all you freshmen, high schools not as scary as you think. Remember to do your homework, get along with your teachers (when your teacher likes you they're a lot more lenient with your grade), and don't share your food.
Queen Green Bean in my school for every time you miss a class you would loose 1 grade on that subject So if you got a 100 on the test you would get 99 if you missed that class one time
“Don’t hide your passion” Me: **does the opposite because people at my school are racist and hate K-pop except for a very few percentage** 😔 (Don’t do that “ARMY!! ARMY OMG!!” shit please. It’s annoying. Just have common sense when seeing this.)
yoonology tbh, those racist comments towards the like “oh, those Chinese lesbians again. So are they gay? Why do they wear makeup??” Like what’d they do to you? What you all worked up about? Just go away and let me listen to the greatest bops of all time (Yes, SHINee’s Lucifer is that bop I play 24/7)
I don’t hide my passion, but I understand what you mean. I listen to classic rock. Like, my favorite band is Queen. Do you know how hard it is to find someone that enjoys the greatest music ever composed?
3:54 my science teacher does that 😂 my social studies teacher does the opposite. He gave me a 3,000% on an extra credit assignment that I didn't do but obviously i didn't say anything.
Lmao my parents are the complete opposite. Whenever I’m in a hurry, they say that I can wait and whenever I’m walking my little brother to school early, my dad says it’s totally fine to be a couple minutes late. 😂 I’m the only one in my family who takes getting to school on time super seriously. 😂
#5 was sooo true. most grades come from homework assignments or tests and if you forget to turn in homework and your grade goes down, that doesn’t mean you’re an idiot. just means you’re irresponsible. like me.
I’m gonna be a senior but I still wanted to watch this vid. But it’s great advice y’all should listen. Don’t listen to upperclassmen about class selections! Pick what you want to do!
omg i forgot abt this comment but i’m now done w sophomore yr and my hs experience has been way better than expected!!! i was such a scaredy cat back then lol
@@avalon3821 me too i’m so scared to start high school, i stayed at home for a whole year and homeschooled bc of covid and now i’m going to a hug high school with ppl that i don’t know and i have social anxiety 😥
I’m class of 2021 and to be honest join a spot or a club and meet new people.... the Best part of my high school experience was football and hanging out with people and people that I now called brothers
I just finished my freshman year and it wasnt as bad as i thought. I just wished I did more activities because it a simple year depending on your classes. I'm socially awkward and I was able to make friends with with atleast 4/7 classes of people. Sometimes people will come to you and remember that everyone is also nervous but just more out spoken
I'm heading into my sophomore year soon, Don't worry freshman year isn't that bad. Just ignore people who might have intentions that don't better you as a person and enjoy yourself.
So you're high-key terrified? Honestly me too tho haha I'm starting high school next year, and absolutely trying to be over prepared for high school 😂😂😂
@@jocelyn248 Yeah same, I'm going into my sophomore year since I was homeschooled but I've become afraid of strangers and I don't know anyone in that school. So, I'm preparing for a ton of awkward interactions with my peers and being a total loner, wonderful.
@@selenaparent4199 Hey! You can do it!! I once was told that we spend a lot of our lives caring about what others think! So don't! Don't care about them! Just focus on making yourself better! If they talk about you bad, let them! It doesn't matter what they think anyways! You have got this! Hope that helps!
@@jocelyn248 Thank you very much, I really needed to hear that. It's easy to get worried and become forgetful on stuff like that when your stressed out about other stuff.
thank you so much for this video. i've been having panic attacks because i've been thinking about starting freshman year in about a month. this video really soothed my worries and made me feel more secure. 💛💛💛
Oh don't worry too much! In my experience, high school is so much better than middle school, you may lose some friends but you get to discover some new things and make new experiences and it's totally worth it, I'm sure you'll be fine:)
My parents always send me to school when I have cramps. I can't think if my stomach hurts so bad like I'm even learning anything if I just want to go home and lie down
Dude, thank you! I’m a freshman this year and I’m high-key scared because I’m very busy ( I made it into varsity poms which takes all my spare time) and I don’t really know what to I’m going to aspect. Any advice?
Geraldine Hernandez use it trust me also if you can stay after school if you need help and don’t be afraid to ask for help if everything gets overwhelming.
Im a junior this year and honestly high school isn't anything like the movies or anything like you'd expect. Don't be nervous and I know its hard not to but trust me when I say that in no time you'll be a junior like me and wondering how you're already through half of high school. Good luck
And then you'll be a Senior like me and scared out of your mind about college. Enjoy being the top dogs on campus because you revert back to being a freshman in college.
I really like your sense of humor and dry wit and tbh I also just graduated high school and I literally can't even remember what happened before 11th grade
