Lucky !! I used to live in LA. My mom and sister lived in San Diego for several years. It’s beautiful and special. I have never been able to find another place like it. I am in Texas now and I miss it everyday. Good luck on your move ❤️
My Wife and I moved here about a year ago.....right in the beginning of the pandemic. The best decision we ever made. You are going to love it! Good luck! Raised in the Bay Area and came from the Central Valley.
@@shannonshores9231 Hi Shannon, I specialize in buying, however, I do have a number of resources I can send over your way if needed. Send me a quick email and I'll send over those resources! Danny.Quesada@exprealty.com
I live in Illinois and I wanna move here so bad. I honestly don’t know what I wanna do lol I always wanted to move here. I’m tired of the snow and cold. Always wanted live around palm trees and warmer weather
Do it man. I lived in the Midwest until I was 19 and just left everything and moved to California. Found a place sharing a room with someone who became my best friend for $500 a month. If you’re not in school or don’t have your parents to rely on, you’ll have to work full time. Plenty of positions from $15-$18 and sometimes $20 without a degree. Then you gain experience and climb the latter. You can get out if you really want to. Take the first step in faith, you don’t have to see the whole staircase. Lmk if you wanna chat about what it’s like moving out of the Midwest to beautiful socal. I’ll tell you everything I did and maybe can suggest a way for you to do the same. I’m currently about to start a full time professional job I landed down in La Jolla San Diego in this summer. I’m living proof that it can be done.
Good tips.I moved there from Connecticut in 1988 ,I so loved it there from the weather, mexican food, jobs, and activities, especially the beach.,I left for Northern Ca in 1992,then in 2000,back to Connecticut.I did attempt to move back to Lemon Grove with a friend in 2003.It didn't work out.I do hope to visit this year,as my friend is in La Mesa, now.I'm sure your most excellent videos will come in handy.
Great video! I am a quadriplegic and I use a power wheelchair… I I am thinking of moving to San Diego. Could you do a video on handicapped accessible areas. Possibly the best area to live as well please
One of the good parts of public transportation in San Diego is that the Metropolitan Transit System does provide fairly decent handicapped transit options, handicapped parking is abundant and most places are accessible for wheelchairs.
I’m leaving for San Diego tomorrow from RI (working at one of the research institutes in Torrey Pines) and your content is so helpful and comforting. Thank you for producing it!
Traffic sucks, parking sucks, cost of living sucks, finding a job that allows you to pay bills is hard. Having to shack up with 5 other people to afford rent sucks. The population tends to be transient and move around lot, so be careful who you trust. This video has good advice about the traffic and I recommend you drive in rush hour traffic during peak hours for a full week -- you will get a better feel of what your life will be like. It is easier to enjoy San Diego if you have a good job waiting for you. I've been living here almost 40 years and wouldn't live anywhere else. I've known people to move back to places like Chicago or Minnesota, but then come back after going through a winter.
I'm a truck driver so I know. san diego has virtually no traffic compared to even places like Louisville KY, Cincinnati OH, Nashville TN...I could go on. as far as the cost of living, less than Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, San Francisco, NYC area. you pay more for places people want to move.
Comin'at ya from out in La Mesa. I would say that the neighborhoods that comprise Uptown San Diego would be amongst the most walkable in town: Hillcrest, North Park, Normal Heights, University Heights, Kensington are all greatlive clost to a grocery store. And if you play your cards right, you can live close to a grocey store; like VONS in Normal Heights and North Park, Smart & Final Extra in North Park, Ralphs Hillcrest, Sprouts in University Heights. There is alsothat Target Express in Golden Hill where Galafoods used to be, and there are also some substantial mom and pop srores in the area as well. plenty of shopping!
I appreciate that Deb! I thought it would be different to give tips about things a little differently that people moving here may not think of initially.
North Park maybe popular for young people .But I would not recommend it to families with young children or teenagers not much for them to do.Like you said many bar's and restaurants .A lot of traffic .But yes I think it's a great location for young people who are into bar's and restaurants and the party scene etc.
If you're moving from out of state. Do your research, DO NOT select the cheapest moving company, make sure they're bonded & insured, and get everything in writing. Shady movers are known to hold your belongings for hostage and demand money. My coworker had to pay an extra $2000 to get her car and home items.
Thanks for this tip. Since I am from here, its a perspective that i wouldn't really think of! That's what this comment section is all about, helping out others! Feel bad for your co-worker.
Hey jay awesome job on this video and thanks for tips my friend in fact I’m gonna video about what San dego area tomorrow morning I already talk about San debit but never the area in fact I will give you a shoutout stay tune.
Heyyy for your #6 you mentioned deciding if you want to drive or walk. Can you do a video on areas that are good for the walking lifestyle/ beach towns? 🙏🏻 Preferably for people in their 30s lol
@@mel34576 pretty much most of downtown San Diego is walkable. Stay away from the south east side of downtown in my opinion...also pacific beach is a young crowd but it’s a lot of partying on the weekend nights with majority of college kids. During the daytime on the weekends is usually a more professional crowd in my experience in pacific beach. Mostly people graduated from college around 23-35 id say.
@@Noah-pk7tf thanks so much! Im leaning heavily toward Pacific beach for the environment and I was worried about it being all college kids. So happy to hear your feedback. I have a flight booked and going to test out PB and OB!
Hopefully moving to SD this Fall. Thanks for this video! Any recommendations for quiet neighborhoods? I have a very anxious rescue dog so it's important to have an easy-going street nearby for walks.
I have lived in SD for a long time now and that would really depend on where your interest lie. San Diego is a huge pet and family-friendly city with lots of parks for both kids and pets. Now as far as your question about quiet and things like that it would depend on your situation when you arrive like work, hobbies, general interests, etc. There lots of locations in North and South San Diego as well as the coastal areas.
That would mostly depend on your budget. Housing is tight here just as it is in a lot of areas in southern California. Cheap rent could come it issues you don't want to deal with like crime, homelessness etc. Do a budget analysis and look at where you are and from that you can look at areas that fit within that budget.
@@allanjoseph7535 @$900.00 here in San Diego you are looking at renting a room in a house or apt. Basically you are sharing your space with others. One of the only ways to get rent that low is supplemental house or low income housing. It's tough I'm not going to lie to you man sacrifices will have to be made if you really want it to work.
I tell all the California people from San Diego coming to the city is lot cheaper in California when you're on vacation a good spot or Chincoteague Virginia some good areas for the Eastern Shore to Delaware beaches
I have been in San Diego my whole life, 64 years,,,,Depends where you live for crime, all big cities have crime. San Diego is not that bad, you just have to know where not to live or visit.
I'm going to move back from Australia and I'm wondering if the rents are higher than 4 or 5 years ago...they were pretty good so hope I won't be shocked😊
@@victorialevinson7762 yea thx u that why I also asked the question bc I also have asthma. Sometimes when I go to a small town full of trees it hits my allergies and asthma so hard. That why I’m not liking NC😂😭😂😭
@@nostalgic_blue extreme homelessness population is growing - not paradise. The 2021 violent crime rate (3.74 per 1,000 population) for the San Diego region was 8% higher than in 2020. There were 118 homicides in the San Diego region in 2021, three more than in 2020. The number of rapes reported to law enforcement was up 11% in 2021. Do your research before moving - if you don't make 150k plus you will not enjoy San Diego
Don't worry, the liberals have taken over City and County government to the point that the infrastructure is crumbling, crime is on the rise and homeless street living is encouraged.
What are conservative values anymore?,,,My father was WWII, Korean, and Nam, i was born and raised in San Diego. Conservatives have lost all moral grounds like they had before, lies, deceit, and just full of BS now. Lived here in San Diego since 1957, we always had the chiefs over our house for beer and talking of old times. Parents bought the house for 15k in 1956,,,,lol lol.
I'm moving to San Diego in a year or two coming from Maryland people stare a LOT. I mean a lot like you can't walk past one person without them starting in your face. Is it like that there?
I'm from Salisbury Maryland it's cheap around here but do you know some good better spots in San Diego California we have a good spot where I live at but it's called Ocean City Maryland
Hi Melissa! Nope... i stink at skateboarding... just learn how to balance and control the board and u should be fine! I've fallen about 5 times in the 5 years ive had the board. lol
Rule #11 don't be a kook and just chill. We don't need to hear you say well in (insert wherever) this is different or that is better. We don't care. Oh and don't waist our water or burn the place down.
That would mostly depend on you what your budget is. Housing is really tight here just as it is in most places in SoCal with that being said where you plan on working or relaxing ie; beach, inland areas north or south near the border will be a factor in the costs.
@@2Lovechild Probably because of the amount of traffic.... since he is a motorcyclist. My Wife and I moved here about a year ago. The best decision we made.
Just want to let you know that Manny Pachios daughter and son have youtube channels and there dad is in it , his daughter pulls a prank on him pretty funny, Ilike the new style of videos
Real Tip #1: You're about 40 years too late and San Diego is no longer "America's Finest City". Crime is rampant because of Prop 47 that reduced penalties for crime and the police and highway patrol have lost interest in any type of speed or traffic enforcement on the roadways. Public transportation is a joke, walking is dangerous and far too many apartment, condo and housing projects do not provide enough parking.
brown man, what's it like for us landing broads there. u know what I mean, the dating scene with us and brown/white women 'cause we both know we have no desire for anything else. so don't be politically correct 😎
#1 makes it all worth it‼️Sunshine tax we pay is stiff but there is no where else in the US that have top weather world wide, diversity🌈👩🏻🦰👩🏽🧑🏿👱♂️👨🏿🦳🧔🏼, ( big raspberry to all the stuck-up conservatives that think the place is ruined,) inspiring sunsets, loads of foods brought and made from other cultures, Mexico and her cheaper by a third pharmaceuticals right over the border... I could go on and on. Grew up in snow, cold and gloom so SD is very attractive and North County quite affordable if you hunt carefully and take Jay's tips especially regarding traffic flow for where you need to travel to. Also, income in hand very helpful as it's been mentioned, the houseless folk are here for the same reasons we are and they are legion‼️My trash cruiser's name is Dave ( hunting for recycling in our trash,) and we're friendly. I've asked if he'd like certain food or stuff from me and that's how we roll here. 🎉
