I'd say another shocking thing about San Diego is that you don't always have to have a lot of money to go. Some trips we only had 500 and thats for gas to and from Phoenix, cheap hotel, cheap food and free places like beaches and other free places.
You’re so right. There’s so many free places and things to do here! Tourists just need to know where to go and how to save and they can definitely make a budget work.
One thing I would let people visiting know is to get around to the inner city neighborhoods like north park, normal heights, east san diego, skyline, and encanto to experience the real local culture, not just the high traffic tourist locales.

I live by Cleveland and grew up 20min from WV. The first two people standing beside me in SD were from Cleveland and WV. 😂 😂 😂that's the only thing that scares me about the population.
A lot of Filipinos en National City and Eastlake with a couple of Jolly Bees! Man, I miss San Diego weather and its taco shops especially Lolitas and Tacos El Gordo!
Love the content! One thing I’ve noticed is that you mention the 10.5% transient occupancy tax. I gotta tell you, that tax is pretty low for a major city, let alone one that attracts so many tourists. Other cities like Los Angeles, Anaheim, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and more are all around 15% or higher. Tbh, we should raise ours to pay for infrastructure needs! Keep up the great work!
Yeah, the early last call was a big surprise the first year I came out for Comic Con. I assumed it was a holdover from the days the Gaslamp was a lot seedier and trying to keep the local military out of trouble. (Nothing good ever happens after 2am ;-) )

Mexican food opinion: that isn't a California Burrito. A California burrito has home fries in it, not french fries, but sadly almost all of the taco shops have gone the cheap route.
I took a film appreciation class from one of the local film critics at a San Diego junior college and learned that San Diego was (not any longer) a popular place for Hollywood to preview movies because of the diverse (hate that word) population. I always liked it here because everybody mostly got along until the socialists slowly took over the local government.
