In today's video we are going to detail all the things that make your newborn baby uniquely newborn! I often hear parents express concern over these totally normal newborn findings. But almost all of these seemingly abnormal things (that are TOTALLY normal) are due to your baby being perfectly designed for birth and transition to extrauterine life. Our babies are just as amazing as our bodies that birth them.
Did any of these things shock you with you baby? Anything else you think I should add to the list? Let me know in the comments.

Another weird thing that I was not prepared for with my first was how noisy babies are! I'm not talking about the typical crying, I mean just so many noises especially when they're sleeping!
@Nurse_zabe

Oh my gosh, yes! They are stuffy and snuffily and somethings just let out random cries! It can definitely make it hard to sleep in addition to all the adrenaline and hormones from birth!

When I had my first in 2019, I thought that I was a failure because of that second night fright. My hospital doesn’t have a nursery, but at some point in the sleep deprivation my absolutely amazing L&D nurse offered to take my daughter to the nurses station to hang out for a few hours so we could get some rest, and I said yes but felt so guilty. I hadn’t heard that it was normal for that night to be worse. I’ll be a bit more prepared next May for number #2. Only sleep that first day 😊 thank you for all of your amazing videos!

My husband thought I was crazy when I was putting breast milk on everything. He prob thought I was just losing my mind from sleep deprivation until he looked it up for himself. 😂 It really is a cure all! That stuff is magical!

Just had our baby 2 weeks ago and wish I had seen this video because man was I not prepared for what you said! Her poor lady parts were swollen and tender, and that 2nd night fright is no joke especially with nurses and hospital staff interrupting every hour; I didn't have time to sleep, eat, bath or brush my teeth. I was a hot mess and I felt like a failure with chapped nipples. My milk came in on day 4 and I finally got peace. I wish more people talked about this stuff. Thank you for doing this video do more will know and be prepared!

When my toddler was born I was worried about her eyes, they looked cloudy-- They cleared within 24h, and looked how I had expected from having seen a 1 day old (unfocused but with fully visible irises) Also, the first 2 weeks my baby would only sleep for my SO, it was as if the smell of milk was keeping her awake; so she'd nurse and nurse then sleep but wake immediately and scream unless I handed her off and then she'd fall asleep immediately. I could rock, or hum, or pat, just the same, didn't matter- it honestly made me sad, but she got over it soon enough.

Oh boy, was I not prepared for the second night fright. I just had my first at the end of April, and you are not kidding when you say it's rough. I was beside myself that day. Lucky I'll know better for next time!

I am currently pregnant with baby #2. I am already producing a bit of colostrum and I am only 5 months along. With both my first and this one I have problems with my nipples becoming dry. So I've been expressing every few days and rubbing those few drops of colostrum on my nipples. Works better than any cream

❤️ amazing video! Thank you nurse Zabe. Wish I knew about choking before, they had to suck it out twice with this little thin tube because my baby was literally choking and becoming blueish! 😨 Also, my baby’s skin was sort of off, never saw that before and I was told it was totally normal… 🤦‍♀️

My son had those little bursted blood vessels in his eyes! They lasted a lot longer than I thought they would--a few months. Does that tend to happen with a fast active labor? Even though he was my first active labor started around 10 pm for me and he was born at 4:21 the next morning.
