Decluttering one drawer, one cabinet, or one space at a time makes it easier to manage stuff on daily basis. To start decluttering, I empty out the space, decide what I want to keep, then evaluate the unchosen items for decluttering, donation, keep, or trash. Join me as I declutter, organize, and clean our home in this video today!

I have to say, not many RU-vid minimalists talk about life after decluttering. I really wish they would move beyond the basics and show how it's benefiting their lives. Thank you for sharing!!

We have a chuckle in our house. “It’s 2 pm, dad will be home by 3pm”. We do our daily and the house is perfected by 3pm. It took a few years to get to this point. But, none of us would ever go back.

Yes, 🙌 I completely agree routine and organisation is key to maintaining life after decluttering. Erica, you seem to be back to being in a great place after everything that has happened to you in recent years. The confident smile you have as you talk radiates joy and contentment.

decluttering the physical stuff is the easy part. been a minimalist for 8 years and and still have a messy home. but tidying up takes 10 minutes, cleaning the bathroom takes 10 minutes. cleaning the bedroom even if the clothes are all out anf including the sheets takes 10 minutes. i can deep clean the flat in 2 hours or less everyday if i wished.

That's the hill - to put it all into routine - you hit the nail on the head. Also,, as you pointed out, a little grace when things inevitably get messy is so important.

With anyone, but especially a family, meal planning and laundry are two of the places that can consume alot of energy. Love the fact you made it visual for others to follow and accessible to them!!! Good job!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

❤❤ Routine and habits. Everything I put down when I come home or rummage through as my project for the day has only two spots: the coffee table or my desk. Does it get messy? Of course! Is it easy and quick to pick up? YES. A mess isn't a bad thing if everything has a home and it's not all scattered everywhere in the home. *I'll pick up after myself as I LIVE my life.*

Great video. I've been with you since you started decluttering your old house. I've always wondered what your husband's initial reaction was, when he came home from overseas the first time you had decluttered. Was he just astounded?

I started my journey right after watching you. I wished I found this idea when my kids were young. But better late than never. My kids are grown and I am planning my daughters wedding. Hopefully I can help my kids along the way in their journey of life and give input without overstepping.

Love your real life videos and advice. Omg. Yes I’ve noticed the same thing I have free time now that the house is so much more easily managed. I can do my fun things. I can spend time reading or doing my hobbies and even then checking in with my family seems easier because now I have time it’s wonderful. I never realize that that would be a perk. I thought things would be good for me but I didn’t realize that I’d have more free time. It’s awesome thank you.

I always think back to when you were initially going through your basement when you first started on this journey. I am so happy for you and your family that you were able to do all that you have done and learned. You’ve come along way, Baby! Your children are learning more than home schooling from you, Erica. Love your videos.

You once said, "My goal is no longer to get more done but to have less to do." I have just realized that I've tried to do as little as possible without decluttering (not just stuff but activities, etc.). When I use your thinking, I'm so much more effective. When I have a place for everything, the mess doesn't bother me nearly as much.

What I love is when I do a 15 minute reset and can only find 5 or 10 minutes worth to do! I've gotten a lot better at putting things away instead of putting them down on the nearest flat surface. Having less stuff makes that so much easier.

Interesting take on the factors that make your house run smoothly. You mention/gloss over the fact that having a partner who shares in the household tasks & older children who do the same. Ive been a minimalist for 8 years. It wasnt until my hisband stepped up 2 years ago & actually started sharing household tasks that our house got "under control" and felt manageble. Our kids are srill quite yoing, so i look forward to being in your stage of life where they can actually contribute as well!

If you love them, then box them up and store them somewhere away from your current clothes. But only box the ones you really loved. Let the others go. Make sure you have a lovely capsule wardrobe that suits your fabulous body right now. Do not beat yourself up. Weight goes up, it comes down and often back again. You are still you and worthy of lovely things and experiences. Put a declutter date on the box and give it a year or so, then depending what your body is doing decide should they stay or go. If you have a really fashion forward wardrobe or have not bought things for a long time, you may decide to shed those clothes instead of quarantining them. It also depends upon the stirage space you have available to you too. Please, please, please just make sure you feel great in your current clothes selection! ♥️

Since my daughter left for college, I’ve been completely lost. I just lay in bed and the world just goes on around me. I don’t know how to live any more. [single mom through adoption].

I'm so sorry to hear this. This is one of my fears too as I've completely dedicated my life to Motherhood. Have you tried exploring some new hobbies, social groups, or church activities? It will take some time to rediscover your self. Be gentle with yourself ❤

I feel for you.❤. Single mom here too. My son has gone off to college as well. I felt like I’d lost a piece of myself. I didn’t feel whole anymore. The first year was awful. I’d randomly cry because my heart felt so heavy. It has got easier now. Still not easy but easier. I hope you can find a way through this. I had to keep reminding myself that if my son saw me sad he would feel guilty and dreadful for leaving. I couldn’t cope with this and this is what gave me the incentive I needed to find my happy again. I wanted my son to be happy and fly. That’s what mattered most to me. Sending you strength ❤.
