Nice that they put Waverly tuners on the MM. Pity that they didn't go with a relic-ed set of those for the Monroe replica, especially considering the price bump on that limited edition model.
The new reissue is made more so to pay homage to the sound/look of the original Loar's and they definitely do. They have much more of a vintage sound rather than a modern sound, stay tuned for our full review coming out in a couple of days!
Guys - a good review, lovely mandolins - but I have to take issue with the title of your posting. 'Shocked'? That word carries negative vibes - it suggests that there's something very wrong with these mandolins. It's a word that in general seems to have lost its true meaning on RU-vid postings. Instead, how about for example 'delighted', 'amazed', 'pleasantly surprised'? 🙂
20 years ago at just under half this price, I ordered my (Derrington) MM with a radiused fretboard on a wider neck and scooped fretboard extension. I'm sure they would still do that for you.
All of these are great options that I would love to own, but in all honesty, I would put this one up against any of them and believe it would hold its own, and it has The Gibson legacy to go with it.
@@johnchapman4232 Another great thing out of Nashville, along with Joe Glaser & Forrest Lee Jnr putting B benders in Telecasters 🎸👍 Makes this UK man happy 😀
