I wouldn't mind being more open about my past mistakes. Sadly, rape, murder, robbery, and arson are still criminalized, and there remains a $20,000 reward for the many unsolved incidents in my area of the world. Some day, when our society has evolved past the need to cling to outmoded Biblical values, I'll go on national TV and discuss my errors publicly

World needs more moms like you. In parents WhatsApp group I often get headache reading texts from other parents who seem to never get exposed to printed materials when they (we) were growing up. Which is understandable since during 80-90's purchasing printed material in my country was still considered a luxury for many families. Plus libraries were not advertised much. However I think it's still important for parents to upgrade ourselves, take advantage of easy access to every knowledge and skill the internet provides, not to take for granted whatever our childhood shaped us. When I was a teenager I lived with my friend's mom. And she allowed me to stay for a seriously low rent fee. But I was unable to pay it because of my own faults. She was gracious and still helped me anyways. Now at 32 I finally paid her back what I've owed her for all these years. She never asked but I also never forgot.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized mindfulness is key. It’s important to remind yourself every day, every hour, to behave mindfully and respectfully. Pause before answering questions. Breathe before you get emotionally upset. Take a walk every day and spend time taking care of your physical and mental health. Make yourself hard to access unless people earn it. These lessons come with experience and age but watching these lessons helps reinforce those lessons. Thank you Anna.

Anna, thank you for addressing proper texting etiquette. Its truly sad that proper decorum is being lost because it is viewed as “old fashioned”. It breaks my heart to see some of my interns struggle with formal social events because they were never instructed in the most basic rules of etiquette. Thank you for everything you do to help bridge that gap!
@a.b.2405

Oh yes, proper decorum is so rare nowadays. The way some people text is so weird, I can barely understand it. Then they get mad at you for not understanding their text messages that read like they never passed elementary school. Furthermore, manners are so rare, it’s appalling.

@@hikerhobby1204 I think we may just be in a stage of technology overload. Many of the manners and rules of etiquette might be ‘old fashioned’, in that, they took a millennia to establish. Anna, thank you so much for your videos and advice. I live in NYC, born and raised. I'm a city gal but hate the crowds. When you talked about getting in line (queue) I remember back to my first time in Paris. Everyone on the metro was polite, even though it was very crowded. I describe it as a beautiful dance. People slipping past others in a graceful manner. In NYC, it s a full on contact sport. People (men and women) derive great joy from pushing and hitting others and excuse it as "it's crowded, what are you going to do? 🤷🏾‍♀️". I've had plenty of men full on body check me. I dont wait in line for anything, not the store, not the train, bus, airport, nothing. I always hang back, let people fight, push, get aggravated then I step on. Or I wait for the next train, there is always another train. When I fly, I sit far from my gate and watch with great bemusement the people anxiously lining up around the check in counter, jumping to get in line first, to stand around and wait. My seat is confirmed and only I can sit in it. I'm the last person to board and because of this I get my bag checked for free 😎. When we land, I smile as everyone is jumping up to just stand there. Lol. I'm the last to leave, my luggage is waiting for me and I enjoy a nice peaceful walk. My peace is priceless.

@@kounelitsa whilst I’m not the tagged recipient I thought I may be able to help a little, at least on the lounge/bedding end. Lilysilks quality I find, depends on the item. I have a few pieces of the 22momme weight pajamas, years later still in amazing condition. Most of the pajama/ slip camisoles have a 1cm seam allowance if you need to let it out a little, but always size up. Also check that the silk is on both the front and back facing panels as images can be a little deceptive. I love the delux nightcap, not the other versions of their bonnets though (no lining unfortunately), although it looses breathability after a while. Unlike slipsilk, their pillowcases don’t tear or fade easy, but would recommend the zipper version, as the envelope version kept sliding off my pillow lol. They also have in cart offers worth checking out, so in the ‘view your cart’ section after adding an item they often have opportunities to buy reduced cost items to try like a $10 silk large eye mask that is 💯 worth it

I'm going to add a teeny tiny detail that people don't think about very often, but others notice. Dirty phone cases and earphones. It shows your hands are dirty (even if you wash them because you're constantly holding a dirty phone) and you don't take care of your hygiene (because people can see the earwax on your earphones) and that gives a very strong impression you're overall dirty.

I would agree. treating the people who help you get through your day easier or just are trying to do their jobs deserve respect too. even if they have an attitude some one with grace poise and true elegance does get down to their level of petty. the other day a woman was treating me badly for me not bending the rules that could get me fired . I was polite and cordial with her and told her I wasn't about lose my job over bending the rules because of company policy and my boss even explained it was for auditing purposes. . she got what she wanted I got her in and out of the store . She could have been more polite however , I'm surprised she did well in business at all.

My addition to about paying attention to your smell: arrive fresh to your beauty/ wellness appointments. It’s classy because it shows respect to the person that’s going to work on you. Don’t keep your hair without washing for too long just because you’re going to have it professionally washed at your next hairdresser appointment. Shower right before going to get a massage or body treatment and if you think you’re gonna get there all sweaty consider if you can freshen up there or choose a more convenient time.

I think that even if you “can hold your alcohol” and you’re able to drink a lot without getting messy, you still shouldn’t drink more than 4 drinks in a night. Even if it doesn’t affect your behaviour, it still seems pointless to have more than 4 drinks. I think it is better to have one or two drinks, and then order non-alcoholic cocktails after that, to show that you have restraint and also that you value self care and taking good care of the health of your mind and body. Alcohol does damage to your organs over time no matter how well you think you can hold your liquor
@mojsamsunggs2
@mojsamsunggs2 2 года назад
This! The healthiest amount of alcohol, according to the newest research, is none. Anna suggested that you should smoke discreetly, if you must do it, I think it's a little similar with alcohol - by having moderation, you set an example for other people and show you care about your well-being and those who accompany you, for whom you can only be present if you aren't incapacitated. Plus, your alcohol tolerance may vary depending on how tired you are, how much you've eaten on a given day etc. Of course nobody's perfect and classy all the time but if we're talking about classy behaviour, that's my opinion :)

4 drinks it's a lot! My limit is 3 with friends and 2 if I'm in a formal situation. For example, last week I attended an international conference, and at night there were dinners and parties. Imagine to consume 4 drinks in that context. It would be very inappropiated.

could you make a video on hotel etiquette please? from how to interact with the staff from entrance, check in etc. also on the tipping etiquette. Some hotels are visited by rich middle east or russian people or americans who leave very generous tips. How to not look cheap and know how much to leave when they say that service cannot be charged on the card and therefore is not included in card payments... Also sometimes when I go to hotels, I have this friend who asks a lot of questions to staff and want to "visit" any part of a luxurious hotel, like rooftops, restaurant, bar etc just to see how it looks like and would stay there taking photos and videos.. I find it embarassing..

The generation of my grandmothers and my mother was so different. Most women had class naturally. What an upside down world it is now. Class has almost become extinct. 😢 Thank you Anna for these reminders. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all women had these 10 classy traits!

I learnt a long time ago that money is never "borrowed" it is given or gifted. If you can part with your money, know that you're likely not going to be paid back.

I believe that some elderly people's houses smell because in fact elderly people themselves tend NOT to smell. This lulls them into thinking that they rarely have to wash their clothes.... and eventually their houses get that musty smell.

I would suggest that if you put hello or hi first in a message, wait for a response from the other person first before you continue, because you naturally want to get their attention right? Then ask away what they think to a new dress when they get in contact. I would say, by saying, hi - how are you - I've got a question... is a suspenseful way of getting someone's attention that they must reply to you right then and there because you hope they have to get in contact to answer your question. We all know the types who take forever and a day to reply to us and you want their attention there and then. But if this is your go to style of talking to people over messages try to break that by practising being a little straightforward and send two pictures of two dresses and ask which they prefer? Most people rather straight forward questions because it makes you come across as a tease by enticing their interest and to then hear which pair of socks to buy it's annoying and some women do get annoyed very easily about those types of things. Most people do prefer straight forward questions rather than someone beating around a bush or who takes forever and a day to get information out of them.

The only one I question is not being obsessed with free things. Are you conflating being classy with being wealthy? If a poor woman had the opportunity to accept free things that would make her life significantly easier, would it really be that bad for her to take them?

My nan always told me to never borrow money and never be late for an appointment or meeting. Also taught myself and my siblings proper table manners. Keep elbows off the table, never talk with your mouth full (or at all when at the table), put cutlery down in between mouthfuls, chew your food and don't bolt it down. I instilled good manners in my daughter and a judge once praised me for raising a lovely young lady (my daughter was assaulted by her Anorexia counsellor, not involved in a crime herself).

Anna, people with substance use disorder can never control their alcohol use. As in, NEVER. The disorder is caused by a brain state that results from trauma, physical or emotional, so anyone struggling with their drinking needs to get treatment: appropriate clinical and social support, and 12 step work. One of the hats I wear is that of a professional addiction recovery coach with many years of experience. I cannot drink at all, but I have so much recovery that I can handle social situations involving alcohol with grace and ease. I have not had a desire to drink for 36 years because treatment WORKS! The only people who are uncomfortable with my polite refusal of alcohol are active alcoholics. Everyone else respects my choice. Addiction knows no social class--there are just as many wealthy people with the disorder as there are poor people who have it, although in America poverty guarantees you will get PTSD at some point, which raises your risk of addiction.. (My brother is the PTSD expert who did the research that proves this.) Your other suggestions are spot on!.
