This is very useful information for any wardrobe. I’m a single lady and I’m putting together a curated wardrobe. I’ve found this video so informative!!
This is great content. Most of these tips might look obvious if you have been wearing coat and tie for over a decade but god I wish this video was out 13 years ago when I started my wardrobe.
Thank you El D. And welcome to AskOkey RU-vid. Well, someone earlier in their journey will benefit I hope 😁. Do follow us on Instagram @askokeyig PROFF
If you wrote a book about Haberdashery & the Art of Bespoke, I would buy it. This level of attention to detail is rare and worthy of preservation. Depending how the summer goes, I will be coming to NY for a fitting.
Beautiful blue summer suit Okey, perfectly complimented by a subtle 'pop' of colour in your choice of tie. Thanks for your continued guidance helping us in our sartorial journey.
Ive learned a lot about proper attire by watching this man, however I don't own many suits because i normally dress casually . I lm more of a guy who active, i wear suits for certain occasions. I like the idea of having 3 to 5 suits.
Thank you very much, my brotha. I reside in the States but am 🇨🇩 DRC native and promote the Congo Dandy's style of wear in my town. I am very organized with my wardrobe, but having a digital inventory is actually a very great concept of organization(I'll be checking out the website and exercising this) I've kept literally every receipt of my current wardrobe items(thanks, mother), and being a little old school, I enjoy the physical verification of knowing where my receipts are, lol. Anyway, I recently saw a short on my feed of your business, and this is my 4th video and you Sir have a great way of educating the audience in your expertise about this field. I already subscribed after the first watch. Respect 🫡 Mr.Meticulous
I gained around 10 extra kilogrammes during Covid time. Had to move 2 holes further on my belt. My budget is quite limited, so I couldn't afford to buy cloth that will not fit in a future. Now I have stopped buying new cloth at all because I am waiting for the time when I would get slimmer again, but another problem is that I almost do nothing to lose gained weight.
Jack, it also depends on the Chest circumference of the person. But yes I agree, 4” is my own sweet spot for SB. Are you following us on Instagram? @askokeyig PROFF
@@AskOkeyInc Very True, my favorite is 4 to 4 1/2 for DB and SB and I’m a bigger guy my chest is 55.25 inches although I’ve got a body that is much heavier that it looks, I’ll definitely add you on Instagram!
The seasonality concept is a great idea. I have heard of seasonal dressing, but I have never heard seasonality prioritized logically before I watched this video. Thanks for the tip!
Where do you live? In countries with large seasonal differences in temperatures everyone has bespoke winter clothes, summer clothes and the occasional autumn/spring jacket or vest.
When buying off the rack take advantage of the establishments complimentary alterations if offered, this will save you money rather than using your own alterations tailor.
I mean it’s only common sense that you have a seasonal wardrobe. I don’t wear linen in the depth of winter or tweed in heat of the summer. Same goes for colors. First and foremost you need to know what is your color. Just because others wear colors of the rainbow ending up looking like a Balenciaga trash bag doesn’t mean you are a candidate for subtle colors or pastels or your brights ala Amazon Parrot. Furthermore I find bright colors out of place for the winter or fall season. When I say brights I mean yellow, light greens, light blues. I personally opt for Bordeaux’s, hunter greens, maybe a mix of beige and dark green, you catch my drift. However all of that is essentially personal preference. Does Okey look good in blue, yes but I personally think he pulls off greys exceptionally well. I only have a couple pieces in my wardrobe that I consider trendy all the rest are classic in color, shape, fabric. Even with classics though you have to be careful. If a man for example has a short torso stay away from turtlenecks just like a woman that has a “ gifted “ cleavage. It’s a lot of trial and error but eventually you’ll get what enhances your attributes the most without taking you hostage and letting the most important part fade away which is your face. Although, I am not gonna lie, I do enjoy catching a look at Okey’a behind when the situation arises. 😂
Proff already started a bespoke online tailoring company, Michael. Welcome aboard. If you would like to dress like Proff, please visit our website, www.askokey.com/shop
Chad Michaels the suit is not baggy. There is a big difference between being full cut and baggy. If you think the standard is a Pee Wee Herman skinny boy suit, you are missing the point.
He's wearing a bespoke ensemble tailored in the British drape format. It's neither Italian or European slim fit or American sack fit... While it looks baggy to your personal taste it is indeed specifically made for his body's measurements and his particular taste. .
Another excellent video Okey. Every tip is solid but I especially resonated with number 2: "Opting for variety over seasonality.' If you permit, I would suggest that opting for variety *within* seasonality is the way to go because the varieties can cater to different levels of formality. In other words having hopsack, worsted, and linen suits [in different or even the same colour(s)], for the Spring/Summer season for instance, really does help to keep one's wardrobe interesting and sufficiently diverse. Overall, this video is perfect for beginners. I was luckily to have learnt from your early videos when I was starting out on my MTM journey.
I've commited the #3 mistake (buying too many too soon) but with fragrances. I got to about 25 fragrances before I realized that I can have enough variety (seasonality and occasion) with 12 of the 25 fragrances.
I live in Ghana, im building my suit collection : i have some two blacks: one single breasted and one double breasted. I have one navy blue double breasted. One Teal Green single breasted and One Charcoal black single breasted. Contemplating on grey to round it up How im i doing Askokey
