A very misleading statement at 8:25 (the whole work permit sections is such a mess, actually). There’s no requirement to have lived in Canada for 3 out of 5 years to get a PR. That is a rule to become eligible for citizenship. For PR, there’s no requirement to stay in Canada BEFORE getting it, but there’s 2 years out of last 5 rule to maintain your PR status.
Bro thank you so much for the free templates, really appreciated (sorry for not tipping in my country credit cards are banned to do international transections 😅). Also a great thanks for the whole guide. ❤
Canada adjusted to a 1:1 scale to other countries is one of the most expensive countries in the world to live in. Our housing market alone is absurdly hyper inflated, any good or service that crosses a boarder is through the roof because of taxation and outsourcing, etc. A more accurate statement would be "if you're living comfortably where you are then you will live comfortably here".
i like this video a lot, and i'm considering moving to canada to study. the only thing that has thrown me off is the tax amount. ~28% rate of income tax is insane.
@@jrmcdonald7510my husband and I were just saying this. The more money you make here it’s like you get punished for it when you file taxes. And to top it off you get no help from the government.
Awesome video as usual! Adam, I have a minor point of feedback. This is not the first time you casually mention you need to spend 3 out 5 years to apply for a PR status. This is a common misconception. You are likely confusing it with Canadian naturalization/citizenship requirement. In fact most of the FSW/Express Entry applilcants apply "outland", and come to Canada for the first time in their life with "confirmation of permanent residency" paperwork on their hands. Immediately after landing they become full-blown permanent residents. Canada's immigration system is very different from EU/USA in this aspect.
Yes what Alex said is true! You just need to be able to prove that you have the intent of getting PR and settling in Canada for long term. So they are still wanting to stop people with work permits from just investing, then leaving the country. In the case of buying a property while having a work permit, you will need to speak with a lawyer to be safe :) Which any real estate advisor you use should be able to connect you with a good one! 🏡
Truth with credit score is it cajt really go up until you actually have a few loans or a big one. So from 18yo until you'll have your first major loan it will probably go down, since it will go down if there aint enough money in your accounts (wich will happen if you go to college). Also, good Quebec pronounciation! :D Finally : Winter is the best season !
I’m looking to move to Vancouver bc Canada from Uk but I have epilepsy , so I would get my appointments free in Canada but I would have to pay for all of medication where I get it all free in uk Or Australia you pay so much a year and the government pays the rest?
I live in Canada and i do live in an Igloo and ride a domesticated Moose around to get to places. Along with the only Black guy i ever knew frozen to death instantly when he stepped outside in November.
Definitely not the target audience for this video as I’ve lived here all my life as well, but you covered so many great points and very thorough! Because of my degree many of these topics come up daily in lectures such as government, immigration etc and you did a great job giving an overview!
Thanks for a video, Adam! I’ve been living in Vancouver for 3 months now, and I had no idea it would be so hard to find a local job in my field (as graphic designer/illustrator) 🥲 Everyone says I need to get any Canadian experience first and it’s going to be easier then. And that networking is really important. It has been a struggle for me( That emblem of Ukraine on JJ’s wall😍
Thanks for sharing this, I'll be better able to let people know this who ask questions about job searching (especially in your specific industry) :// It is true once you have that one job here things get a little easier for getting others down the road, but the first one.. is the toughest one.
I live in the Lower Mainland of BC. I do not recommend living here. If you ever want to buy a home and if you want to raise a family with a good standard of living I do not recommend. Wages are not keeping pace with the cost of living. If you are young and don’t mind living in a tiny apartment/basement suite, it’s a great city.
Canada has high taxes, ahahahahahah, I live in Italy for crying out loud. Here, if you earn € 100.000 per year, your net income will be about € 55.650.
@@tg9527 Yeah, appreciate you sharing. I'm from Wales originally and we've looked at what we can get and it's all still so much more affordable than what we can have here. I hear England is pricey, but we never really experienced or felt that in Wales. UK isn't perfect, but for what we want and the life we can get we would definitely have it better home
This video is a little bit misleading about the healthcare---it's not just "basic stuff" that's covered; it's also surgeries, ER visits, pregnancy and birth, etc. Specifics will depend on the province, but there are federally mandated standards that provincial health insurance must meet. Otherwise, great video!
Oh hey, it's JJ! Greetings from across the border in WA! Vancouver, to me, is like if Seattle were more international and a tad nicer. I also used to live near Osooyos in Okanagan, and was amused that Canada has a wine country. talking about size: I also forget how big BC actually is, and Washington isn't a small state. The western provinces are wide and go a long way up.
I got a question 😊 I thought there was also an exemption for people who are going to college you could buy an apartment for a certain amount also hi 😊 I have Ben at the process of moving to Canada it’s not easy 😅
I'm from Aroostook county, ME, USA and I always wanted to move to New Brunswick, I never knew how to and I wanted to know before i do it. I have family in Canada and I'd like to live near em, would I be able to move to Canada?
Hello I am planning to move to Vancouver next month so I am looking for a accommodation which is easily accessible to downtown so where should I move to?
Hey Adam, great video, question can you make a video for returning Canadians to Canada? as i am planning my reture to Canada after more then 17 years outside
@@CommieComrade69 Was there for 24 hours in 2017 and a homeless man murdered another homeless man outside my hotel. Also beer stores and strip clubs on every single block.
I've known several immigrants to Canada who all said that they ended up in Canada because it was easier to get into than the USA, because they were rejected from their original goal of living in the USA, or that they even had a long-term plan of immigrating to the USA once they had Canadian citizenship. So, is Canada a good backup plan for anybody that can't make it to America? Probably.
How many will actually go to the states after, only way its easier to go from canada to usa is if your a citizen and whose will spend the better part of a decade to become a citizen and then jump ship?
@@themarcusismael13 Oh, I agree. I’m a Libertarian. So, I’m familiar with “supply and demand.” The left, here in the US, thinks “supply and demand” are “evil terms.”
