Nah it makes sense, when Yuke's transferred to new engine they usually made a barebones game with small roster and less variety (Just Bring It was simpler than SYM and HCTP, 2k15 was completely barebones, 2k16 lacked backstage) and later polished sequels.
Fight Forever may have the Yukes name on it but there's no telling how many of the original design and development staff from our beloved old school wrestling games actually worked on Fight Forever. It could be almost an entirely new team. Someone should check the credits and see how many names come up that worked on past games.
More you could do in No Mercy but not FF, if im wrong on any of these feel free to correct me. Make Opponent bleed without use of weapons Knockout Opponent to end a match Use ring stairs as a weapon or to walk up onto the apron FULLY Customize Real Wrestlers appearance End the Match Replay finish whenever you like Force opponents momentum bar down past "DANGER" and into a "LOSING IT!" state. Play various types of Ladder matches Rotate wrestlers around during character select
We all heard that Fight Forever was going to be lacking content and that it wasn't fair to compare it to WWE2K. However... Fight Forever is a full price game and should be treated as such. It's drastically lacking in content, it's bare bones. AEW Fight Forever is simply not worth $60 at most in it's current state it's worth $40. The worse part is the Season Pass is $30 and all we get is 6 wrestlers? WTF? (Oh and some mini games 👍) this needed more time in the oven or should've been cheaper PERIOD
@@dhenderson1810 WWE2K23 also has over a hundred wrestlers, hundreds of different wrestling moves, an expansive creation suite, story mode for John Cena, Universe mode that has two ways of playing it, 4 times more match types than AEW, all of which are customizable, WWE2K23 earns it's price tag, Fight Forever doesn't. WWE2K23's season pass is there if you want more content. AEW Fight Forever's Season Pass is desperately needed to pathetically pad out it's lackluster game.
I just wish some of these additions are free. We paid $$$ for a game that (despite the immense fun playing it) is honestly barebones (both in match types and in Creation suites).
The WWE GameCube games had AKI Guys Shunsuke Katsumata and Takumi Kon on lead design. Katsumata was also in the credits for AEW Fight Forever not sure how large it small his role was. Most wrestling developers want to do their own thing and rightfully so. There are times like TNA Impact where people try to push them into making Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 but those devs wanted to make that game like their follow up on that engine, WWE All. Stars.
MY TOP 5 WISHES FOR AEW FF UPDATES: 1. More match types: - steel cage - ladder matches variety (3-way and 4-way, for example) - backstage brawl - tornado tag 2. More items in the creation suite...like way more. 3. More moves (esp. for ladder and guardrail ones). Also, I hope they fix some moves. Either they don't connect or the impact looks INCHES away from each other. 4. Season 2 DLCs should have more than 2 wrestlers each pack... Maybe 4 is good enough? 5. Include generic music for superstar entrances. If the entrances are only 6 seconds long, I assume they can easily include tons of generic 6-10 second music pieces. I am not a game developer though, so I understand if some of these are too hard to do.
cage match will come. They literally even have animations for people being up against a "solid surface" and moves to support it. But I agree, it should've been in the game day 1.
4:43 To piggyback on and give my two cents on “Create-A-Wrestler;” - Separate the arm creation pieces (ex. Upper Arm | Elbow Pad | Wrist | Hands/Fingers) - Add variety to the leg options (ex. Boots | Knee Pad | Kickpads | Socks/Tape etc.) - Import tools (Logos, Patterns, Faces, etc.) - More hairstyles - More Masks and Mask Customization - Different body types If y’all can think of other options, feel free to reply to this.
How did you miss that, they only have a total of 7 match types.. that should’ve stuck out immediately since wrestling games have been filled with an abundance of match types for over 20 years. That reason alone is why I stayed away from this game. 7 match types in 2023 is beyond unacceptable
FACTS in wwe 2k22, and wwe 2k23 there only like two arenas you could go in a backstage brawl while in wwe games like wwe shut your mouth and her comes the pain there’s multiple.
I hope they are able to build the perfect AEW game overtime and it doesnt end up like the Tna game(i know midway shut down and killed any chance for more games
@@aaron_aj_knight_95 you are right. I m not saying this to knock AEW this is their first outing i understand why its not up there with a wwe game yet. TNA never had chance to became a game franchise
That's what I was thinking because I could imagine someone spamming weapon shots for an advantage... BUT two is way too soon for a break. I'd say 3 at the minimum, 5 at max
In all honesty, AEW Fight Forever is not that bad, but it is not worth what we paid for it and feels like less than half of a complete game. It is seriously lacking. I played for one whole day then was bored with it.
Is it the marketing people comparing this to Aki games while it's made by Yuke's? I think the proper comparison would be with old Smackdown games, like Know Your Role or SYM/HCTP, or even SD vs Raw ones, before 2K took over.
Anything old school from that era it's meant to be like, hence why they refer to it as "arcade style gameplay". I've had an easier time with the controls than any 2K game.
@@aaron_aj_knight_95 I meant it plays too much like old Smackdown games by default. Even changing run to L2 keeps it as toggle... I loved the game but could really use more arenas and modes.
i know one complaint i have that could possibly be a point for a things wrong with WWE 2K23, not being able to aim when doing a finisher, like how you use to be able to turn while hitting someone with a Batista Bomb
im shocked by just how little content is in fight forever. like this game just isn’t at all what it was promoted to be, especially that sad excuse of a career mode and character creator
They focused on laying down the gameplay. It's live service. WWE 2K20 proved you can have all the bells and whistles but they don't mean jack with bad gameplay.
@@EliteEasyE 2k20 was the game Yuke's dropped midway and 2K had to scramble up internal team to finish it. It also built up on stuff from like 5 games prior and this one is from ground up. A more proper comparison would be 2k15 when they done it from ground up on a new engine.
You could kinda win the match as a special ref in no mercy. If you turn on first blood or KO then you can make both bleed or KO both and then ring the bell as the ref. It will say draw but play the refs music along with their celebration
I am LOVING AEW Fight Forever, and something I've been saying is, right now Fight Forever is more comparable to WCW/NWO Revenge, and EVENTUALLY will feel like a WWF No Mercy successor, and as someone who still plays those games still to this very day, I've been waiting for a game like this for 2 decades, and I get the people who like the sim and detailed graphical style of the 2k games, as do I, but to me, emphasis on to me, I feel like the style they went for feels more timeless, like they found a sweet spot graphically, it doesn't look bad, it's not overly polished, but it feels like a game a game that I can go back and play for years to come, I can't say that for the 2k style of game, I never get that feeling to go back and play the old 2k games and I don't know anybody personally who does, but we will fire up some HCTP, Revenge or No Mercy.
@@jonathanturbide2232eah it’s one big Fortnite mode that will not play like a wrestling game. Can’t believe they wasted their resources on a battle royale
Thanks for this video that weapon breaking AND the object invisibility is soooo annyoing holy fuck 😢 im equaly mad about the two hit breaking aswell as that invisibility i rather go arround a ladder then having it dissapear and appear like im in star trek😂 beam me up Tony
I think they'll add backstage and Cage matches imo. I suspect them adding a blood and Guts match. I'm just glad they released it, it's one of the most fun wrestling games I've played since the early 2000s.
Honestly No Mercys cage match was Fine, but Flawed Actually one of my favorite moments in the match was when I'd have beaten someone down grappled and pressed that C button and I was perfectly content busting them open with a running face smash off the cage It was simple and effective and honestly sorta a little game of can I slam their head into all 4 sides
It’s literally embarrassing how this game sold itself to be “no mercy”… yet it has a smaller roster, less match types, less arenas, no backstage, no superstar attire editing & this game has a 23 year old advantage over it.
This is a bad comparison because Tony Khan himself is not a fan of backstage brawls. Yes, It's been done in AEW but you notice everything is mostly done in that ring. So why would a game company he hired go and break that vision for his wrestling brand? Regardless how Arcade the game is.
Should be kept in mind that the game is going to continue to receive updates and content. It isn't fair to say it doesn't have it, only that it doesn't have it yet. Mu h smaller budget for AEW FF than WWE games give it time before trying to strike it down. We need more than WWE for the genre to thrive
@youngcity4241 BS, Every game comes out broken. And needs patches and fixes. Skyrim was a busted heap and got game of the year. Everyone just wants to pick this new game apart instead of giving it half a chance
@youngcity4241 These ain't those times. So get over it. Any competition to WWE is good for the industry and the Genre, we all should want this game to succeed. And let the developer know what we want to see better from them in the updates because they are listening. Unlike WWE and 2K games which think they know best and what we should want.
@@r0wdyr0bby94they come out broken because people like you keep pre ordering them… & another point is you’re making excuses for match types that we’ve had for decades not being available at launch. Why is it we need to go backwards all of a sudden ? 7 match types would be fine back in 96-98. In 2023 that is not going to cut it
Fight forever looks like a good game better than the simulation crap that 2k's been giving us even though 2k22 and 2k23 are way better than the monstrosity that was 2k20. I hope they add new features to fight forever via updates.
This is what happens when a fan base gets too impatient with the game development process that it puts pressure on the devs to rush the game. Minecraft really fucked the world and now nobody could just shut the fuck up and wait for an actual polished game anymore.
@@MegaTroySmith Average time to make a game is 18 months to 3 years. They built every asset from scratch including hand made animations and built a new engine. This is also a first effort from these 3 companies and they focused on building the gameplay. SmackDown 2 was built on an engine and assets that Yuke's used and reused on their many New Japan games and localization of those games it's not nearly the same scenario.
@@EliteEasyEyou’re comparing the development work on a ps1 to a ps5. That’s 4 gaming generations ago. How pathetic of an excuse. Games today should easily have more content / customization than games of 23 years ago. You’re literally a joke
