I am a older African American woman who recently began reading books by CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHIE. The thought at which she addresses difficult issues - female equality, race, hair, the difference between African Americans and Africans in America - is simply brilliant. I envy her composure when responding to insensitive questions from journalist. Oh, if only I could be that calm when faced with similar questions. So many young women, especially multiracial, African American and women of color, need to read her work. CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHIE is a very wise woman. This Christmas I am giving six of my adult nieces a copy of DEAR IJEAWELE, or a FEMINIST MANIFESTO IN FIFTEEN SUGGESTIONS. I will continue to talk with my peers and share her insights with all my friends. Thank you for this video about her.
The mother of African Feminism!! A phenomenal woman! A social justice fighter!! A revolutionist! A power-house! A shaker of table! Why I became a feminist! A guide to feminism!! A reason WHY “we should all be feminist” The educator of intersectionality 🙌🏾✊🏾✊🏾 My idols! Yes will never attached my husband name to my name, he didn’t go through all the work to get all the degrees and titled that I have 🤧 I love love love Chiammanda 😍😍❤️
I enjoyed listening and am encouraged by her strength and courage to pursue her passions and be her authentic self, I completely resonate with it as a 44-year-old woman on the journey of rediscovering myself after having a hysterectomy before I had children. The hysterectomy was a traumatising experience that reset my life and I had to start my life all over again, it's been both a painful and rewarding journey.
I love the fact that she is a realist . She carries herself as royalty of the past. I want my so called black women in America to emulate everything about our sister.
You are one of a kind and you discovered yourself early .you have inspired my life in different ways. You are so real you write with everything around you. You are an icon, confident and intelligent writer. I love your smiles and your voice tone.
Adiche is a writer whose style and sagacity in pening down a story is coiled in a sub sequential arom. I have read a lot of her works. She is my mentor. Am an aspiring writer as well hoping to change the world with pen just like my lovely mentor.
Chimamanda has such a way of painting a picture of what Africans want to say in an eloquent and charismatic way with a smile on her face. She is so articulate and beautifully poised in her delivery of her contents and thought. Truly admirable!
Very impressed with this young lady. Truly gifted. My daughter is an awesome writer. I would always tell her this is a gift that not many people have, use it to inspire others. I learned of this young lady that vlogs, she is also an inspiration. I will be reading her books.
I admired her and I do invite her to my academic institution, which is the ministry of foreign affairs and East Africa community center for foreign relations at Dar Es Salaam Tanzania, as I remembered Mwalimu Nyerere supported Biafra war, there is wade in Dar Es Salaam city called Biafra
what is amazing is her analytical ability to think through and articulate clear profound responses to messy, complex trans-continental political issues - while still looking good! perhaps she will be an ibo version of muhammad ali in his prime!
This lady is just phenomenal. One of the POSITIVELY PROUD African women who defends the racial undertones at ANY opportunity! God bless you ! You are a blessing to our continent!
I loved her starting from her first story Purple Hibiscus. I have listened to her Ted talks and wish to write like her. Keep the flag flying for our African women.
The biggest problem i have hard from this video is that the author is married, i would have done everything possible to make sure that i arrive to her place. Nevertheless, i am happy that she is till alive, surely i will tell her my story, which she has not written or told anyone. But of course she will tell it out and write about it. That's my happiness. She has a nice work and clear Crystal character. God bless you my 👸👼💃💞
She's my icon and my all...her book Half of a yellow sun ..helps me an anglophone in Cameron to see the danger of violence ..That book tells our story for the past 4 years...
@@okechukwufavour8262 I can't remember asking anyone here for advise....so what the hell the noise is about? Shut up! Her husband isn't white! I'm a feminist! And there is absolutely nothing you people can say or do about it! If you dare reply, my answer will be much nastier!
I'm white, german, 58, and I must say, when I read first Half Of A Yellow Sun, I was stunned, so great characters and what a story! Next I read Purple Hibiskus and I also love this book. Americana I saved for quite a while, because I wanted to read it when I really needed a book to cheer me up, it worked in the end. I think she is a person who really has something to say and, as different we may be, I have to agree to most she says. People like her are important. Especially in a time, where in many european countries racism and also sexism are experiencing some kind of disgusting renaissance. And I also agree, that I want as my wife a real partner and not a servant. And I also don*t care wich colour th woman has, which religion or which nationality. Important is the character only. And I must admit that it feels good to know, there is also someone who thinks similar, only can express herself much better than me.
If she has such a high opinion of her race why did she not find a highly intelligent black man to marry instead of a white man. Did she suffer from low self-esteem?
@@calpag lol. Her husband is mixed race. Are you a black man with low self esteem that feels that Chimamanda marrying a mixed race man affects your ego so much. Black men marries outside of their race more than black women do. Usually, black women are able to maintain their relationship while black men even with their perfect preference wife cannot keep their marriage with the woman they prefer.
@@yasnyne I think you missed the point. There is a reason for the things we do in our lives I am sure that there are smart and intelligent black men that black women can select from to be their mate. I said even though she is an excellent writer she apparently lacks self-esteem. We know from experience that black women marry men with white complexion is to have light skin children and not necessarily true love.
@@calpag I dont think you should project your low self esteem and insecurities on someone else. That you think of something happening one way, doesn't translate to the whole universe aligning to think the same way.
The danger of a single story is one of her books that should be read by everyone, so we don't stereotype and conclude on unknown stories or information about anyone or anything. Chimamanda you are too much. god bless you. no weapon fashion against you shall prosper.
Get your facts right o. Stop misleading people. She likes to be addressed as 'ms' not 'miss'. She didn't study medicine because of her dad, her parents were supportive.
