I always liked Frank's break down at the end. He finally got it! And, as happens when you have that kind of true epiphany in your life, you HAVE to tell people! You shout it to the sky and want everyone around you to know it. In Frank's case, he wasn't even used to using the words, the vernacular, so it makes sense that he is rambling and chasing all over trying to say it in a way that makes sense.

Had to look up Sam Kinison in Three Amigos because I have that whole movie memorized and couldn’t recall him ANYWHERE! Turns out he was in a lost scene playing a “cannibalistic mountain man.” The footage was cut for time and later lost by the studio. DAMN!
@skyden24195
@skyden24195 2 года назад
Thanks for giving that info. When Minty said that Kinison was in "Three Amigos," my first thought was, of course, "No, he wasn't." Technically, Kinison is *not* in 3 Amigos, as not only does he not appear in any scenes, he's not even credited. And, standard SAG union practices demand that an actor be credited for working on a film even if that actor's scenes are cut completely out. This actually happened (mostly) in the 2014 film, "X-Men: Days of Future Past " with Anna Paquin. Originally, Anna (as Rogue) was to be the one who sends Wolverine back to the 70's, (instead of Kitty Pride being the sender.) In the debut cut of the film, Anna Paquin is credited with a starring role, however, the actress is seen only briefly in one scene, and is shown while delivering no dialogue. Not exactly a starring role presentation. There was a DVD released which did include the original vision of Rogue being the sending character instead of Kitty Pride, but that's getting away from the point I was making about how Sam Kinison is technically not in "The Three Amigos." Apologies for such an at length comment, but I wanted to get my point of view across about whether or not an actor is considered being in a film if not credited or appearing on screen.

@@corssecurity I'm not being difficult. They are mimicking A Christmas Carol, or parodying it, or doing an allusion to it, (meta), ect... but it is still not a Christmas Carol. How do we know? For one, the are putting on A Christmas Carol on TV parallel to it. See, this plot is joke based. The joke us his life is mimicking it. But it is still not it. Ergo, the little black kid, is Calvin Cooley. Not Tiny Tim. "But he is a stand in for him!" You might say. Sure. Fine. No problem. He is the meta, joke, allusion stand in, for Tiny Tim, played by Mary Lou. But his name is Calvin. At best, he is Tiny Calvin. But he is not Tiny Tim. Honestly, if you don't get that, you honestly don't truly get the film, or even what meta really is, imo. Maybe its just to meta for you.

You know it's funny, despite the vast differences I thought this was actually a very faithful adaptation on an emotional level. The Jim Carrey one always felt too dark because it didn't pull you back into the light the way this did, it felt almost hollow at times. You really felt it when they were singing that music and you felt a light-heartedness in the right moments but you also experienced the tragedy and darkness that was also in the book. I think for me I just came down to balance. But then I collect Christmas Carols. Oddly enough Muppets and an American Christmas Carol did this for me as well. Tho I love nearly every Christmas Carol for different reasons. I plan to write a miniseries version one day, with a twist that fits parts of me in ways that will certainly be unique. Let's just say I see death differently.

@barbarabaker1457
@barbarabaker1457 2 года назад
@@theresaiwright7085 Sorry got distracted with my Buffy Reactor Awards video and missed time to answer. On that CC I do indeed have it! Where to start? There was something about the kids singing that caught me more than any other version and I like they're additional part. His Ebenezer style is interesting, there's a self protection in his bitterness that few captured right off the bat (lol Scrooge McDuck did as well). Usually you don't see it till The Spirit of Christmas Present. It adds so well to his fear. Solid Cratchit when kind, struggles a bit with sadder emotions. I like the idea of the music more than the music itself but they did something right as I find myself caught up anyhow. Marley is definitely not a favorite but certainly fought for his opulence status in life much like this Scrooged. The inhabitants of hell was pretty well done. And the later hell scene he did adorably. Past a little fru fru but "you don't look like a ghost" "thank you" deserves serious respect and she was sweet. Possibly one of the loveliest Belle's ever and what a voice. Wasn't fond of Present but his song was wonderful and scrooge was, dare I say, adorable singing it with him. Cat game cracks me up. Not the best Tim but a cutie and parts of that song hit hard. Future, that slow fall thank you song then Tim's song… heartbreaking and one of my favorite future consequence sequences, even if the future costume/hell sets were... interesting… made today I'm sure it would have been horrifying though so I imagine instead. Ending the initial song (I like life the opposite, especially when those kids kick in), like the muppets, while alright, oddly took away from some of the feel of the change but the spin really kicked it off and while slightly cartoony it was genuinely heartwarming and "I think I'm going to like children" never gets old. He just said that so well. And I can't help but think his lightness of foot got him the role. Much as I like the wife's exclamation, Santa execution didn't work for me, all changes must improve imo but it's a good idea. Last song didn't help. But the joy of his debtors/town did. And the carol amidst it was lovely. Edit: Santa Marley nob was cute.

Bill Murray has been my favorite actor since his first year on SNL and I've been a huge fan since his first movie "Meatballs". Was thrilled when he got back to making movies with Scrooged. Saw it on opening weekend at a sold out theatre and the audience loved it. My date wanted to beat the rush and clear out when the ending credits started to roll. But I had a feeling that Bill wasn't done singing yet so we stayed to end and got to experience Bill interacting with the audience. It's one of my favorite Christmas movies and I watch it every year. Like so many Bill Murray classics, there are so many quotable lines - "Yeah, you get to treat 'em bad on the way back down too. It's great, you get two chances to rough 'em up", "scrape em off Clair, scrape em off", "you're like boning a marlin", "Charles Dickens would want to see their nipples", etc.

I have bought several different films of Scrooge but not the Bill Murray one. Even have the George C Scott and another with Jack Palance versions. Yet up until now this one has just not appealed to me, but after watching TTYDNA am having a serious rethink about it. 😊😊

That ending scene with Murry, saw this as an 8 year old in the cinema, I LOVED this moment. I actually felt like he could see us all and knew we weren't all singing. As I grew up it started to appear totally unscripted to me, you rarely hear people stutter in a film searching for a word...cool to know this was an unscripted moment. Gotta say Minty, love your deal here! Thanks for doing all the hard digging. Do note that the woman who played his assistant was actually clocked in the face quite hard at the elevator when Murray sees the "costumed" ghost of Christmas future.

"Cats and dogs living together mass hysteria" (Ghostbusters) Bill Murray. Best line ever. Perhaps that's where they got this from? "Have you tried Staples"............lol

@@theresaiwright7085 If it's the one I'm thinking of, then yes! The one with a good bit of singing. I just discovered that one 2-3 years ago. I do this every year. Black and white ones, radio dramas, animated, anything A Christmas Carol! Hope you have a great holiday season!

Lesson I have learned from watching Minties '10 things' is that Richard Donner is a movie directing genius.

My favorite about this movie will always be Bill's brothers. His younger brother plays his younger brother; while his older brother plays the Dad from the past, giving us that Family connection, because the brothers look so similar. Arthur can be found in many of Bill's movies, but his two younger ones can also be found in some as well. In fact; this is one of the movies where all 4 Murray brothers are in. You won't see the 4th one; unless you are able to look through the crowd of onlookers during the final scene where Bill gives his big Christmas speech. That's right; the 4th was an extra in the crowd.

Bill Murray is a great actor and a comedic genius, and that is not to be taken lightly. What he can do is something few to no other can replicate. With that said Murray is also a very difficult man to work with and very hard to be dependable on set. Witch is very sad as that have costen him a lot of interesting roles over his career. Or that he was never interested in making Ghostbusters 3 despite EVREYONE on earth begged him to do it again - to give his character Dr. Peter Venkman that final say in a finale. Well we got it now and it was great, even thou we had to wait so-so long for it.
