As an iOS app developer, I wholeheartedly recommend you to close your app every now and then. Not because it can help speeding up your phone or something, but rather it helps to reduce the problems and errors you might run into. Starting an app from scratch runs a different set of steps than returning from background as well as clearing out a lot of "saved stuff". And more often than not, the developers will pay more attention to starting from scratch than from background. That's why there is the famous line: "Hello IT, have you tried turning it off and on again?"
@Marcus-jt2ff

Also an iOS dev and I close my apps constantly. Phones are so fast these days. The load time on opening an app is negligible

There's a simple and practical reason to close applications when you no longer need them; it prevents the multitasking carousel from getting cluttered up and having to swipe through dozens of apps.
@artfartzy
@artfartzy Год назад
I agree, and I know some of them use battery life when running in the background, specially apps like Instagram. And swiping closing them when finish doesnt take that much battery unless you have an app you use a lot.
@waltonks8172
@waltonks8172 Год назад
The thing is that I never go to multitask view just to open an app. Just use spotlight. The only time I use multitask view is when an app is frozen and I need to restart that app.

I have used android for 12 year and I am addicted to closing down the apps. In Android it's hard to get going with too many apps opened. I have used max 200$ phone up until now. Will get iPhone 13 in 2 days let's see how ot goes

A phenomenal feature I just discovered is Guided Access. I have an 18 month old who loves Frozen. Problem is she can’t help touching the screen on long car trips which inevitably takes her off the movie and she cries. Guided access essentially disables the screen, sound buttons, and lock button so that she can’t ruin her own day
@nasseralsharif
@nasseralsharif 4 месяца назад
And it's also a privacy feature, when you have to handle your iPhone to someone that you have trust issues with him. Just lock the app that he needs, and rest assured. I learned this trick from EverythingApplePro yt channel back in the day

As many others on here, I think closing apps is really useful. They often use data in the background and stay active in the background too, using a small bit of CPU power. So closing them once per day is pretty useful. But not after every use, sure, that’s overkill.

iOS dev here. Backgrounded apps absolutely run tasks in the background (depending on the app). Also, starting an app from the background vs starting anew runs completely different functions in the App Delegate and Scene delegate files. A lot of house keeping is often contained in these functions and leaving your apps open all the time can cause issues.
@BrunskitANM

You do not need to set your location on the weather app if you rarely leave town. Turn it off and change your widget to your hometown. This way the weather app won’t constantly be updating via your device’s location.

Depending on your definition of town, where I live on the West Coast we have the greater Victoria Region made up of numerous municipalities and the weather can be clear and sunny in one, drive 15-30min and it could be windy, overcast and hailing then 5 min later in time will have totally changed.

great video as always, just a thought : at 4:30 i wouldn't suggest to anyone to remove the case when it's hot, especially if they are out, that would put them at high risk of the phone slipping and that would be a bigger problem IMO 😢. at 6:00 upgrading the camera to 4k 60 is good if you're watching your content on tv or screen that supports 4k. unfortunately i found out that most people tend to watch their videos on phones which doesn't support 4k. so imo i think 1080p 60 is the way to go to save space. thanks as always.😊

Respectfully, I think it’s a mistake not to use the highest quality video recording setting, even if your phone isn’t 4K. Especially with irreplaceable memories, you will want to be able to watch them in the best quality possible 20 years from now. You’ll never be able to recreate that video of your kids when they’re five years old.

Closing an app immediately after use feels as necessary to me, as zipping my pants immediately after taking a piss. Just like I don't stay unzipped just because I gotta take a piss again soon, I don't let the app run the background just because I might use it again soon.

biggest tips from this video i found were battery overheating and restarting your phone, lotta people don't realize these things damage the phone more than anything else (maybe aside from dropping it lol) i used a cheap non certified cable with my 11 and after 3 years the battery health was at 71%, felt like i was constantly at 20% battery all day. and also restarting computers in general, some work computers and phones don't get reset for months and months my old job would call in a tech just to restart the computers so the registers wouldn't be so slow lol eventually i just told them how to fix it themselves and they would get mad at me for making them do more work because they took like 10 min to turn on.
