Sometimes when I read the comments I wonder if I’m an INFP at all. Nobody ever says to me “oh, you just don’t get me”. Because I “get” everyone. Everyone is bowled over by my friendliness, my empathy, my interest in them. Total strangers tell me their life story in the supermarket aisle. My friends come to me saying “I’m going to ask you because I know you’ll tell me the truth”. And I do, kindly. Then I never phone them.
I don’t mind when people insult me directly but when someone insults a song/film/painting etc. that I hold close to my heart, it’s like they are ripping out my heart and stomping on it

I just HATE when I listen to everyone and when I want to talk, nobody even cares about listening to me, most people just cut me off in mid-speaking, almost all the time actually. So I guess I got used to this. And this also applies for venting. I don't usually vent cuz I dont like to open up to people, maybe because it's hard for me to simplify my feelings, so it's hard for people to understand deeply what I am really feeling and help me with that. I used to really try to help people out and be nice and then realized how little people care and how some don't even want it. Now, I just do me and will help out if people ask but not bend over backwards because I know they won't do the same. At first, I thought this wasn't right but what led me to that conclusion is that a relationship of any kind needs to be mutually beneficial to be good. In that sense, bending over backwards for someone who doesn't care really isn't great for either party
As an ENTP who lives with my brother who is INFP. I can see your struggles. It Is sad, when he tryes So hard to be likeable, but people dont like him, because others have more interesting personality. As i am Quite popular even tho i am obnoxious, small, little, cheeky selfish, egoistical man. Even tho i am in a sense worse friend than He Is. People just prefer guys that are cooler maybe, but they do not know, what they are missing as INFPs are amazing they are Smart, And loyal also really great friends And, if you stay loyal to them. Infp here, been convinced to do sales, Its hell, lasted one week before I quit, Felt miserable and guilty all the time, also got physically sick, so stressful
I'm an x-ray tech, and doctors are always ordering pointless exams. And as soon as the patient has any kind of objection, I have to rebound and either think up a stupid reason that the exam could be worthwhile, or go and ask the doctor why they need it. Often times, the doctor will have to talk the patient into the exam while I'm there with them..and it's just freaking awkward, man. The whole healthcare system is built on milking patients while covering your butt as much as possible. I do not recommend it to INFPs.
Me too, infp, I got my first job as a cashier, work at a small shop... Somehow managed the shop alone... It's was so stressful... I lasted 6 months before I quit, not gonna lie, I felt guilty too...

One of my least favorite things said to me is, "You've grown quiet." It fills me with an indescribable rage for some reason. It might be a simple observation for some, but it's a confrontation to my existence by stating my hand, expecting me to apologize and or 'correct' the silence is agony. If you want to get an infp to talk, ask them anything else besides telling them they are suddenly silent as if pointing it out makes them want to suddenly talk, after the already rare occasion they've talked before.

I'm an infp, and it's very true I can never settle on hobbies. I'm constantly looking at self improvement and can go off at people on various subjects surrounding my latest interest whatever that is.. and it's usually an obscure life improvement practice, or some idea about the direction of society. But contrary to the vid, I love clubbing (or should say 'loved' because i'm now 40 with kids). The best years of my life were spent in dance music clubs, festivals and gigs because I love the music and I love to people watch, even though i'm useless at social interaction in group scenarios. Although, I hate mainstream clubs that plays chart pop as those places are completely different. It's very true we are easily impressionable and I wished i'd realised sooner so I would have known to follow my own intuition. Better late than never though, so focusing on creative endeavors from here on out. I've got nowhere trying to fit in to society. wasted years due to thinking my own interests had no value. To any young INFP - Don't put your creativity on the backburner. Don't try and fit in. Follow you intuition and make your own decisions about your life, regardless of what others think about those decisions. Don't doubt yourself. Follow your intuition.
5 is true. There's no point making something if it's just okay. Because the whole world is full of things that are just okay. Going for a walk, having a snack, taking a dump etc... So if it's okay then it obviously hasn't been uplifting so my work is a failure.

It contains a joke where where a guy hungrily eats a bunch of strawberry sherbert lollies and feels very satisfied with himself for doing so. But then it is revealed that they weren't strawberry sherbert lollies at all. He just ate a bunch of blood-soaked tampons. I gave that joke to someone at university to read. She didn't even change facial expression. She just told me it was okay and handed it back. I felt sick. I would have preferred it if she'd felt disgusted and hated it.

With MBTI and personality types in general it's not about things not being applicable to multiple types. It's about multiple things being applicable for the same type. We are all made up of the same or similar things, but not in the same exact way. People don't realize this tho so that's why all the MBTI stuff gets so discredited by random sites who just found out it exsisted.
Ok I'm glad you included "if it's bad, just say it's bad." I don't mind criticism, but I do mind a soulless answer like "it's okay" or "it's good". I spent a lot of time and effort on making something, at least spend a few moments of your day to really take a look at what I made. If you say you don't like it, at least you're acknowledging my effort, even if it amounted to something stupid, because you took a moment to look at it and form an opinion of it. "It's okay" and nothing more is something you only say if you don't care but you don't want to hurt my feelings by dismissing it without a word. Well guess what, sport? THAT HURTS MY FEELINGS ANYWAY.
I agree. The worst thing you could say to me about something I poured my heart and soul into is "it's okay." I would rather have honest criticism so I can know how to IMPROVE rather than something dismissive that doesn't challenge me to do better and create that masterpiece I feel I have been put on this planet to produce.

My husband would laugh and thought it was cute the way I get excited over things. When he passed, the first thing to make me truly happy was discovering a Sour Patch Kids gingerbread house kit. I wrote a short story once, and dedicated it to two people who were very influential in my life. They didn't have the reaction I was hoping for. It crushed me. But at least my Uncle thought it was really good. I got so mad with the rest of them, though, I wrote a whole 7+ page rant about how angry and hurt I was.

i did the same thing kind of, im terrible at writing so ill just go off it with the story ive developed for years and the characters would include all the people who has made a better impact in my life, ,and then ill explain it to them because they seem interested because they asked for it and then say oh its ok... ok? OK? but this took me like 5 years of development with the addition of all the logic and common sense i tried to put in to make it make sense for you, thats another 2 to 3 years and more story line. xD overall theyre still great friends anyway

I am an infp. I use to love clubbing. (Married now). I met a few really nice ladies that way. I had to get over my shyness and realise that the worst thing they can do is tell me to get lost. To my surprise when that happened occasionally, I didn't actually die. Well maybe a little on the inside. But I'm still physically alive to tell the story. Lol. I hate sales, and love crazy socks.
I went clubbing, when I was young: staying at the same spot for 3 hours dancing - just me and the music and the danceflore - no talking or looking at someone ... my friends always knew where to find me ... but I am social - gets me a bit off, that people say, we are scared of new people, we are only scared of rejection ... this can be with friends as well, if we wonder, wether they have time for us

Literally, I went my friends 18th party on Friday right and I had exams that following week and I was more nervous for the party coz of meeting new people than the exams which will go to my uni 😂😂😂. I am sociable but sometimes I just need to be and I was talking to new people but overall I wasn’t in the mood. Sometimes I just wondered around look for my friends but they were with new people talking so I just sat by myself for a bit. Us INFP, we need to be in the mood in order for ourselves to be comfortable
These are so freaking accurate but especially that ‘it’s ok’ thing. I remember drawing a mermaid when I was a kid and showing it to my older sister whose art I admired and who loved drawing mermaids. I was so proud and excited. And when I showed it to her she said ‘why are you so excited? It’s nothing special’. Broke my fuckihg heart. Didn’t show anything I did to anyone for literally years I was so afraid of their reactions. Happy to say we have an amazing relationship now and she’s so encouraging and supportive of all my endeavors. But it took a lot to build back up to being able to share my art.

I am an INFP and I've been working in retail for years and its easy. I'm able to do it because I know I'm doing it as part of my job and I know I've to only temporarily communicate like that. As soon as I'm not at work and I can be myself again I rarely take the initiative to talk to strangers 😂
I feel like some of us survive these jobs because something like retail or being at a reception desk/librarian, etc. We sort of have a set of dialogue options & rarely do people want to actually socialize in these situations because mostly its just questions and answers related to a specific thing at the workplace

I didn't make an account until I was on my senior year because that's when they stopped convincing me🤣

I’d take 10 minutes of genuine understanding instead of puzzled looks, distraction, and interjecting practicality at every turn for the things that I’m passionate about which have been years in the making. I was convinced to do sales, and I became physically sick from the stress. I shut down when I’m asked to be competitive. I spent more time acting like a life coach to the people I called. Animals have souls and no one owns them. You are lucky to have their presence and unconditional love. Spot on.
Oh my goodness lol..all of these are soo good. #7 was my favorite. My whole adult life people are always saying how perfect I would be in sales. No. 🙃 I gave into selling Mary Kay and I spent more money than I earned giving away my inventory and treating my friends &family to lunch . 😄 I loved the experience but could not make a dime, literally. I baked pies for a sale barn cafe in hopes of supporting my love of giving facials and treating others. I was too shy to meet anyone new, all my "clients" were long time friends&family. True story.
Why are we so good at making things and have no capacity for sales?!? It's twisted. He's right, if I even feel like I'm putting the least bit of pressure on someone to make a purchase, sign up to volunteer, etc, I feel heavy, sleazy, a little nauseous, and... just WRONG. Mostly because I hate a hard sell myself. I won't buy something I would have bought otherwise from someone who is pushy, on principle. I pretty much refused to sing solos as a teen until people stopped pressuring me to do so.

It's good if you can communicate openly. I lost my ex because of something like this. I felt he didn't give me and my problems the attention I needed, not that he didn't, he just didn't express it or it didn't make me feel supported. So I started shutting and since he didn't say anything like ask about it (he did once but I couldn't understand my feelings then so I barely expressed it) I started resenting him and not liking when he touched me. So one day he called me to call it off. I tried talking and mailing him but got no response, he said he was aware of what he was doing. We dated for almost 2 years. I still don't know how to deal with what I feel, since as an Infp I feel things intensely, specially negative emotions, so I feel like why didn't he try to talk it thought or why couldn't he forgive my stupid behavior? Maybe it wouldn't work out in the end but I felt worthless and after all these months it still troubles me

I'm an INFP that talks to strangers all day at work. I'm good at it but that's why I enjoy my alone time so much. It took a lot to get out of my shell. I did a lot of bad choices in my late teens and early 20s that masked my introversion. Now I'm 25 not making all those bad choices anymore and I'm done hiding my true self. It takes a lot less energy to be me. I struggle daily but I'm learning about myself through the journey. I feel more connected to myself that I recently learned deeper about my personality type INFP. These are so accurate 😂😂 Even the SOCKS one is accurate - I don't usually go out of my way to dress differently than others (I just wear whatever as long as it's modest) but I have been questioned a couple of times about my socks
Yeah, it's really a mess with social balance to us, I at least know from experience as an INFP myself. I don't feel like walking up to people to bring up things, but when I do, I always expect more out of their reaction to it. But it always ends up as something way too simple and bland, which makes me want to do it even less. It's a devastating loop. And because of this, I try myself to be better at receiving things from others, but I feel like others don't really seem to think about it. And I think the reason to why we, or at least I, feel underwhelmed by social feedback is because whenever people bring up things to me, I always think so much about every detail, I love to analyze things very closely, almost regardless of what it is. So when I bring up things, and others don't seem to look into it at all, I find it incredibly irritating. I get the impression that I'm not worth their time. Sorry if I got a bit venty here, just felt like explaining a bit about my own experiences with these things.

The part with clubbing isn't necessarily 100% accurate for everyone i think. The tension that arises from beeing in a room full of strangers can be like a drug if you manage to dance it out. Dancing can also be like a nonverbal form of communication and getting into contact with others, while still beeing in the comfort of your own little headspace and expressing things beyond words. I surely get why most infps are likely not into that scenario i guess.
This is so accurate, there was one time where I made a birthday surprise for my friend and I have been hiding it for two weeks. And when I finally show him the surprise and asked if he likes it, he just plainly says its okay. =_= Especially when you talked about art my mom was like art is pointless. It hits so hard in my gut. >_< Also the last one, my friend will always tell me if you want people to know how you feel just tell me. But I wouldn't and I would just end up playing a sad song. Lmao, the "Don´t tell INFP something they created is just OK." is so accurate. 😂 When someone asks me to share my drawing or something, and then they just say something simple like it´s OK or it´s good, or just give it a like without saying anything, I feel so irritated. Like tell me if it´s bad, if it´s great, what could I fix, or ask questions. Simple "It´s Ok" or "It´s good" will just make me unshare the thing.

I hate it when someone tries to correct my interpretation of my point of view with theirs and thereby try to bring it down to my level. I do it this way, you do it however you want. And if he does better, I won't be the one who is envious. Which upsets me immediately? So when they play sad song, or song that reminds about something about us together, is that invitation for me to talk to them or I should just listen to song and understand how they feel and that's all. I do second option because I am scared to talk in wrong moment or wrong way. I just fear being pushed away again. What is your opinion about it?
How about listen to the song first till it ends, and talk about how it makes them feel or what do they imagine when hearing this song? You wanna see their mind so might as well ask a question that helps you peep in it.
As for me, listen to the song and try to feel their way of feeling it. Then you can talk about song and how you perceive it, they will answer. Just don’t corner them into speaking about their feelings. Try to invite, so they always know they are free to decide whether or not and how deep they want to go
So many others like me that I can really relate to. Being an INFP-T isn't easy, especially when you know you have things you need to do but you get distracted by what's going on inside your own head. Thanks for the hard work, Mr Commentator.
all of these are SOOO accurate. im turning 30 in october and i love my pikachu songs XD i sucked in sales, the only time it would work is when my genuine authentic desire to help them get the correct product for the right price, but that only was like 1 in 20 calls.
I- This video is so accurate. I can literally feel those interactions in my bones. Like 100% just memories of someone saying that and my brain just going :( I have anxiety but I think on some level that wanting to talk but always being talked over hurts probably the worst Like the person I’m talking too doesn’t match my energy just feels like I’m sliding down the circles of hell It is just pure pain if like I’m so excited about something and the person just doesn’t care and are obviously not listening Plus if it’s venting and I’m not being listened to or the response is just dull and people are just not listening it makes me feel worse I guess that’s why I like hearing about how excited someone is about something they care about I love people infodumping about their favorite thing Also the one about clothes That that do be me tho Showed up to college in a pirate outfit I looked and felt swag but if someone said anything negative I would’ve immediately started to get anxious about my outfits because they’re always kinda flashy and elaborate for no reason

The listening part is so true 🥲 like i was with some ppl at a group and we were hanging out and i thought i was going alone but they invited me so i went bc i didn't wanna look dumb by myself and when i tried to make some type of convo they would almost never pay attention to me and just left me out so i left somewhere else for a while (btw we were at the fair)
Wow. It's nice to feel understood. Fantastic video and on every point. I'm resisting sending it to my ex boyfriends lol. I didn't know the crazy socks was INFP universal. I'm at least 97% convinced that if I wear matching socks, something bad will happen in the world. Of course I do have a a pair of extra magical socks that can counteract that effect. I have no idea why people wear boring socks, why would you want to or not care, why deny all the colours and possibilities?! Some of these sound very intricate, situations I've never been put in, but the way you explain how an INFP would feel towards the situations? Accurate! As an INFP, I struggle with expressing how I feel, positive or negative. It's so hard that I recognize and memorized every friend's social cues (for example, if they're not doing so well, or if something super good had happened), I would recognize it from the first greet. But, it's kinda upsetting that I'm indirectly forced to be bold and obvious about my own social cues. It's not that my friends force me to, it's the situation. I've kept everything so close to me, that my friends genuinely never thought I was so upset until I left every GC and servers, with no notice. Something that bold is the only thing that caught their attention that finally something was wrong, and it felt horrible to me. It felt horrible that nobody understood me, and horrible that I had to pull a stunt like that to have somebody to talk to. And yes! INFPs would push everything they're doing aside just to listen to you if they cared enough! They listen to you, they focus and they would remember everything about you! Don't tell them they need to "listen", it's just hurtful because we spend everything we got for you. We are Mediators, or Idealists, whichever it is, we're literally human beings who just wants to chill, talk for hours about something that caught our eye, and probably cuddle on the couch. We may daydream a lot, we may be more sensitive when it comes to passions or other living things, but we aren't less of human.
I am infp and I like clubbing. But only with people I know and like and feel safe. And I dont like going for hours and hours or often. Once in a while is nice. I worked in sales, I work in a market, I worked in purchase too. I Can handle people as long as they r respectful. But if they don't I get pissed. And depressed. But yeah, I am way too honest about products 🤣 I tell people I love I feel sad or bad and need a hug and comfort. And I tell I am stressed at work if I feel reeeeeeaaaaally stressed and worn out. Until then I just push myself until I get a grumpy ball.
