I don't even watch hockey but I loved how he bounced the puck off the wall and juked that goalie in the end. He's like a Harlem Globetrotter with a puck
that shootout move is known as the peter forsberg, because it's the first well-known instance of someone pulling off that move... well except for the time that another swede named kent nilsson did it in the world championships against the US but we don't talk about that. either way it was a legendary moment. it was in the hockey olympics in 1994, forsberg would start his NHL career later that year, and in the 7th round of the shootout, in the final against canada he does that move, just sneaking the puck under the goalies glove, which because tommy salo saved the next shootout attempt by canada, ended up being the goal that won sweden's first ever hockey olympic gold medal. he'd then go on to be one of the greatest NHL players of all time and get inducted into the hockey hall of fame.
I've been a fan since he played in the Swedish Hockey League, in Växjö Lakers. He broke some Swedish records during his season in SHL. He is a magician on the ice!
Elias Pettersson and his young and talented teammates may just have what it takes to end Vancouver's cup drought. This young Swede is a very special player, and so are his fellow players Bo Horvat, Brock Boeser and many others. Never considered myself a Canucks fan, but things have suddenly gotten very interesting for them.
@@eddymaldonado7991 They had a shot to win a Stanley Cup and they played horribly, got pushed around like ragdolls. Horrible when it counted most. Even you get it that they sucked, but your emotions are clouding your judgment
Elias is incredible... it's ridicilous how he shoots the puck... good to see he's been able to have such an impact in the NHL despise his young size. Although his skills are clearly on display in this video, I'm not sure I would define scoring on a breakaway as "SHOCKING" lol ;P
“Shocked the world?” Usually, standard slap-shots are not very shocking. Excellent pick by Vancouver though. It’s hard to believe that he went fourth, as my team grabbed a Hischier first overall. A real argument can be made as to who should have gone at number one. I am in no way dragging on Nico, but this guy is a genuine superstar right out of the gate.
I mean it’s still VERY early for both their careers, and there is still a ton of room for development from both players so you never know. Regardless both are very strong players that are literally key pieces in both franchises futures. Thanks for watching !
The thing i just noticed his his release is slow. Where Pavel Datsyuk would deke and bring it to his forehand shot so fast he'd beat goalies, Elias just lazerbeams it where the goalie cant get it, even when fully ready for the shot.
I'm a canuck fan and love EP but let's be real here, no hockey player in history has ever "shocked the world" because hockey isn't a blip on 90% of the world population's radar.
@@doublestrokeroll so does critical thinking and comprehension. However the title is fair, if a non hockey fan saw this I bet they would be shocked what this kid could do in a men's league.
@@SirCanuckelhead lol...that's exactly what I'm doing. Thinking critically about this. And my comprehension is perfect. I literally understand it perfectly. The title goes beyond exaggeration and straight into stupidity.
@@doublestrokeroll it is a youtube title, what you are doing is overreacting... But still the title is fair, show this especially non hockey fans and tell them this is a kid in a mans league and they will be shocked.
Soooo I feel like “SHOCKED THE WORLD” (in all caps) may be overstating things a bit. Maybe “PLAYED GREAT HOCKEY” would be a more appropriate description. A great video with solid editing nonetheless.
he was 5th overall, he finished played better then the first overall and won the calder, he showed incredible skill no one would have expected. so yea he shocked the world by coming 5th overally to being the best player on the canucks....
Lolll playing against colorado wild is like playing against rookie ott no goaler no def colorada great offe ce no defence no goalie and lets not talk about canes
Canucks are so silly . Instead of keeping this killer line together . They don’t sign horvat .now beoser is on the block . Management worse than phoenix or Columbus . Vancouver is an absolute beauty of a city but I don’t see the Canucks ever winning the cup . In 2011 I think they were in first place most of the season and they had the best team and they still couldn’t push that ball over the line .
I am a Swede and we never had a player with this Gretsky shot that he has ...i have waited for a long time as a swede to se this ..AMAZING !! But i am not certain Vancouver is the right place to be to win if he want the Stanley Cup ..sorry fans ;) Vancouver need better defence.. BIGGER players who are BRAVER ..DARING and MEANER
How big is tampa excluding Hedman but he isn't even that mean. Depth/role players do help but the Canucks are defiantly trending in the right direction. What makes for great teams and a key for success? Centres, a scoring winger, top defenceman and a goalie. Petey and Bo in the middle, Brock and TJ on the wing, Hughes on D and Demko in net. Van does need a better top 4 d but they have a solid core and the blueprint for it.
