Over the years we have seen Ramsay travel to several exotic locations on Gordon's Great Escape to try local food. On several occasions on The F Word, Gordon Ramsay would sample food from around the world in his restaurant and in other locations. Gordon Ramsay: Shark Bait was a one-hour special where Gordon investigates the history, culture, and controversy surrounding the shark fishing industry. Actually,the shark fin dishes are not common in Taipei. It is only some luxurious food that wealthy people eat. In fact, most of the Taiwanese boycott this dish because it is savage and not eco-friendly.

Duck eggs are actually really delicious. Here in my country, Philippines, we also serve duck eggs, but we call it "balot" in our language. I was also disgusted at first when my aunt introduced me to this food, but when I straight up ate it, it was actually pretty good. But you can't pig out on duck eggs. Last time I had three in a row, and I threw up. Maybe having one or two is enough.

MrAnimepredator I wouldn't generalise. Its deeply embedded in their culture. Shark fin soup used to be something that only the emperor would eat ( If i remember correctly ). So you can assume that it wasn't something widely available like it is now. I would assume that back then a couple sharks a year hunted for their fins and meat wasn't a problem. But like it is with advancement, a lot of things become readily available to the point where something that used to be only available to the "high class" is available to everyone. Cue overfishing, polution and destruction of environment. Most humans have no regard for anything but themself. Yet, I wouldn't generallise and say "all asians". There are good and bad people everywhere.

The duck egg is called "Balut" in our country. Its really tasty especially the soup inside the egg. And yeah, I've also eaten a snake before and it tasted like chicken. I really liked it. (dunno if the snake was phyton though. It was already skinned when they brought it at home. 😂)

The soup is so good. But honestly, shark fin does nothing for the taste, for Chinese people, it's only about the culture and history. Most Chinese restaurants in the states sell Shark fin soup (Made with other ingredients to mimic the texture of shark fin) because the soup is really good. Plus the way some shark fins are fished is fucked up.

Is it true it gets pissed on before its burried? Ill be visiting icelamd in febuary next year hoping to see the northen light's. I also want to visit the blue lagoon and the place where the north american and european tectonic plates meet. Ive been facinated with iceland for years and this is my first chance to visit. Im going to try the shark and the sheeps head and i cant wait.

Howzer The man nah it’s never pissed on or crapped on, aging certain types of fish make different orders and tastes depending on what it eats and such, sharks eat a ton of fish so it’s taste is pretty odd but to some of us in iceland this is a delicacy to eat as dessert or just during the day.

I used to buy shark steaks (looked like a salmon steak but round with a thick fatty skin) at Clearwater about 10 years ago back in Nova Scotia, Canada for $1/pd and it was delicious! just a few minutes under broil with soya sauce.

My aunt makes shark fin soup and she lives in Mexico. She has a beach house. I remember being 5 years old siting on a Roman styled marble bench and table as she served the dish. Tbh I don’t remember much of my family since I was pretty young, but I’m told they were super wealthy. And I do remember being in big houses that look like resorts.
