@@arnoldgarzajr1164 But the whole point of the regular season is to see who's entire process... Draft, free agency, training camp, games played, rehab system, etc... is the best. While I didn't like the Patriots dynasty any more than anyone else did, the cold fact of the matter was they really were the best team in football and deserved to be in the Bowl. The only way you are guaranteed to see different teams in the SB is to mandate 1-year contracts for everybody and each team gets blown up every year.

The "first to five super bowl wins" aspect wouldve been the only thing that made a PIT-SF Super Bowl XXIX interesting. The Super Bowl everyone really was wishing for was actually two weeks earlier: the NFC Championship. All the sports pundits were saying DAL-SF was the "real" Super Bowl. The Niners wouldve still torched the Steelers the same as they did the Chargers. It just sucks the game we got couldnt have been a closer score into the 2nd half; if it had, the highest scoring Super Bowl ever wouldnt have been nearly so unengaging. The 26 points the Chargers scored wouldve won in one third (19) of all Super Bowls, and is currently the 7th highest losing score in a Super Bowl ever.

Well I'll just note that it couldve very well been a better game for the Chargers, as just 7 weeks earlier they had beaten the 49ers 38-15, and thats despite having lost the first downs, turnovers and time of possession battles. And yes the 49ers played both Young and Rice

@fletchbg I had to look this up as that would've made the build up for the game slightly more interesting. But, In the real world, it was actually the 49ers that beat the chargers 38-15 (the same point differential as the super bowl I might add). Chargers fans are so desperate they now have to make up wins...

Honestly should have happened in superbowl XXVIII a year later if not for the oilers 4th quarter capitulation against Kansas City. Had they got through the chiefs and got their revenge against the bills in the AFC title game that game against the cowboys would have been very lit. May have even saved the oilers from ever relocating and to this day losing their oiler moniker.

Super Bowl 49 was one of the greatest super bowls of all time so I wouldn’t change that but we for sure needed a Brady vs Rodgers matchup

I agree. But once again, we ended up with Tom Brady and the New England Patriots instead, as well as the Los Angeles Rams, whom were claimed by many people that they cheated against the Saints. In my opinion, the only part of Super Bowl 53 that I found interesting was the the halftime show with Maroon 5 (one of my favorite bands/groups) and Big Boi of Outkast.

Which is why I didn't see it-- Super Bowl XVII (Miami/Washington) was the one I saw (this one on DVD, w/John Riggins' magnificent MVP rushing performance of 166 yards, including that famous 43 to a TD on 4th and 1).

Chiefs/Bucs didn't live up to the hype. It was all about Brady passing the torch and a legacy game if Mahomes won. But Brady one to be up in super bowls 7-1 at the time and game wasn't close

If it wasn’t for the Browns, this would be true. I think we were deprived of the best shot we’ve ever had of Browns-Lions in the “one of them is actually gonna win it” Super Bowl. Sad too bc one of those teams got blown out in the wild card round, but given both teams have gone 0-16 in the last 15yrs and are the longest tenured teams without a SB appearance it would’ve been one for the ages. Honorable mention to the formerly Chicago based Cardinals who currently have the longest championship drought in North American sports, but aren’t the “Cubs” bc they at least played in a Super Bowl(and nearly won it).

What? The Pats weren’t even in the AFC Title Game that year. It was the Jets. Now NY-GB would’ve been something to see. The Sanchize against Aaron Rodgers. Loads of people would be rooting for the Jets. Ironic that Rodgers is with Gang Green now after being a spoiled brat in Wisconsin and he was knocked out four snaps into his Jets career with an Achilles injury. Now I loved seeing that as a Vikings fan, but as a defensive-minded fan, it reminded me of when Anthony Barr took out Rodgers with a broken collarbone in 2017. The very next off-season, the NFL approves all of these new “protections” for QBs right when Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson and the next generation of young QBs are about to make their rise. Now doesn’t that seem a bit suspicious? The NFL is so biased towards QBs that they will do anything to protect them, even if it discriminates against the defense. Very symbolic of the two-tiered justice system we have in this country. The offense gets protected, the defense never gets the benefit of the doubt. Look at other sports and tell me if I’m wrong, cuz I know I’m not. The Pats were beaten by the Jets in the AFC playoffs that year and I can remember a Jets player saying at the end of his interview on the field in Foxboro “Can’t wait!” Well, that’s a jinxing comment. Yes, because all these younger people are saying, 2018 Rams/Chiefs.. a rematch of a great MNF game. I want to tell them that original was 1985, and it was the most hyped MNF game ever. I hate the patriots for ruining that rematch for the entire nation. It's funny because you get a lot of fans of specific teams on here, but I can tell you, the entire country outside of boston wanted the rematch of the bears and dolphins. The only season I think that can even compare is 1998.
