I like doing "alexa, enable ambient visions" then picking one to listen to and watch. Can be soothing. Works on firestick TV as well and seems to have more options than on my echo show 5 2nd gen. I also like the games so "alexa, play jeopardy" for example. Oh and I like to set up the camera to on when I'm gone then use the drop in feature to spy on my dog.
Excellent video. Thank you. My new echo show 8 is due to be delivered in two days. Looking forward to setting it up and play around with it and discover all it can do. It will certainly compliment my other smart devices.
When I tell alexa “ dim the bedroom light” or “kettle on” etc whilst playing youtube, it stops RU-vid complrtrly and screen doesnt go back to the video. I have to google and search everything from the beginning (go back / goback to RU-vid Also doesnt work) What can I do?
I'm surprised that none of the reviews are talking about how horribly slow this device is. I can't believe that Echo product line's QA allowed to release this product to the market. It is so slow that it gets you frustrated in no time. To get a taste of what I'm taking about, try Drop in feature or make calls.
My show gos to the home screen after about 10 minutes of watching youtube. There is no setting that helps to prevent going to sleep. The Netflix app seems to be ok but because RU-vid is through the browser and not an app, the device isn’t detecting motion and gos to home screen.
It's really frustrating my prop my Android up against the Echo Show so I can watch RU-vid on the Android because the echo shows and Nightmare to watch RU-vid videos on it's constantly going to sleep you don't have any way to watch a video and add more to it essentially you have to have a phone or tablet or something to be able to make playlists to then watch on the Echo Show if you're going to watch RU-vid on the Echo Show it's just obnoxious for several reasons not just the timeout thing
@@RealityHurts923 exactly same happens to me . Also When I tell alexa “ dim the bedroom light” or “kettle on” etc whilst playing youtube, it stops RU-vid complrtrly and screen doesnt go back to the video. I have to google and search everything from the beginning (go back / goback to RU-vid Also doesnt work)
Thank you Daniel for your useful video. I’m quite confused between the second generation echo five and the second generation echo eight. I did not wish to have a big screen since I mainly use it for the weather timing and a few other things I have no previous experience with Google or Amazon devices etc at all.
I just bought this device from Amazon but I can’t find a way to add BBC Sounds app to link to Alexa. I like to listen Radio 2 in the morning. Can you help?
I do love a bit of pop master at 10:30 😀. You need to go to skill and games and search for bbc sounds. From there you should be able log into bbc sounds so you can listen to the bbc stations.
HI. Just watched your Video as I'm thinking of getting one of these - I already have some 5th Gen Echo Dots and thought this would great for the Kitchen. Thanks I found it quite informative for the UK as most videos were US based. Not sure if you are actually in Walton-on-the-Naze but I used to live there many years ago, also in Thorpe and went to Gunfleet School in Frinton. It was a great school! Thanks again. Bye.
I have an Echo Show 8 and my sister does also. When we do video calls, the picture is constantly freezing and the sound is delayed. Is this a problem with the device or one of our internet connections. It is very annoying and I have actually quit video calling her. Help
It seams like a scam from the Internet provider. You need to have good upload in both parties to enjoy good video. Check your upload speed! not downloading speed. You need at least 5Mbps of upload.
Just got 3 Echo8 second edition. Amazing and super useful. After you try you will never go back to what was before. Great sound, smart and super conviniente. Make sure you Turn OFF buy products from voice.
one question I would like to buy the echo show 8 and I would like to understand one thing in the "smart home" function it detects all the devices that can be controlled with Alexa right? for example, I have a light bulb that I usually control with the "smart life" app, that is, I can change the color, intensity, etc.. having said this, my question is by using the smart home function and by pressing on the lamp status display, I can interact by changing the color and intensity as from the app or can I just select to turn the light on and off? Can this also apply to other light devices? (I hope I was understandable enough)
Hi, I have been in serach of device specially Echo Show 8 , where I can write down few notes like shown below and then ask Alexa to read out for me by below voice command Alexa, what is CPO? Alexa, tell me about CPO? My Wrtitten Notes: What is CPO? Answer: The CPO is a newer position, created mainly because of the increasing demands on organizations to protect a long laundry list of different types of data. This role is responsible for ensuring that customer, company, and employee data is secure and kept secret, which keeps the company out of criminal and civil courts and hopefully out of the headlines. What is VPN? Answer: A virtual private network (VPN) provides confidentiality for data being exchanged between two endpoints. While the use of VPNs may not be sufficient in every case, it is the only answer among those provided that addresses the question. The use of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is not considered secure. IEEE 802.1x is an authentication protocol that does not protect data in transit. Finally, whole-disk encryption may be a good approach to protecting sensitive data, but only while it is at rest. What is Capcha? Answer: A CAPTCHA is a skewed representation of characteristics a person must enter to prove that the subject is a human and not an automated tool, as in a software robot. It is the graphical representation of data What is IPSec? Answer: IPSec is a protocol used to provide VPNs that use strong encryption and authentication functionality. It can work in two different modes: tunnel mode (payload and headers are protected) or transport mode (payload protection only). IPSec works at the network layer, not the data link layer I don't want Alexa, to read stuff from internet but from my written notes. Can Alexa, Echo Show 8, do this for me, I would be more happy ,if i could see my notes on display while alexa read it for me. I want to use Echo Show for study purpose. Please guide. Thanks
Hi Daniel Just bought an Echo Show 8, so found this really helpful and I will repeat watch now and then as I get set up. I like the pace of the video and the easy sound of your voice makes one feel that its not too techy - though it actuall is! Thanks again.
How do disable massive reminders popping up on the main screen, it takes up nearly 50% of the display area and you have to press dismiss to make it vanish. I like the reminders but it's changed since one week ago.
Well that's just it, you don't get to. I've been looking at all these videos and websites and stuff about the Alexa echo show and the different Alexa devices and Amazon is really pushing us into a they want you to use it just to buy stuff kind of device. Mine has even gotten to where it won't show me my cameras, my ring doorbell cameras, which is the main reason I got it. I keep asking it to show me the front door and it'll try to shop for a new front door. I say, show me the front door camera and it tries to shop for a front door camera and it's just getting worse and worse about fighting with me about stuff. You can't just watch RU-vid on it continually or just sit and listen to music on it and stuff like that. It's getting scripted to fiddle with your mind so you will try to buy more stuff. The more it finds about your devices you own & the longer it is hooked to them, the more it'll try to sell you new batteries for them, and new ink cartridges and new gizmos and stuff for your smart devices themselves that you already own. It's still going to try to market to you, sell you stuff, Controlling what type of content we see on it, it doesn't seem to want to let us do that. I have been through all the ad preferences settings and general settings and used other devices to change my profile information so that it has base taste and interest to go by, and it still is kind of controlling and pushy about what it tries to force on me. including trying to force music on me that I don't like and repeatedly thumbs down, but if it has other singles on the disk that it still wants to sell me or other versions of the music exist, then even thumbs down doesn't work cuz it'll just play the slightly slightly different version and telling it my taste doesn't necessarily help at all, at least not consistently or continually. Go look up other Alexa videos and information and you'll see consistent complaints about things that could be fixed but Amazon just absolutely will not acknowledge that many of the repeated consistent complaints exist. One common complaint is reasonable choice of playable content.
Again somebody else wasting the world's time making a video to tell us what we have to already know before we be willing to buy an echo show. This video is like telling somebody that already bought a car that a car is for the purpose of transporting people around.
Totally disagree, and I consider this comment disrespectful to the author. I believe it is very useful for people looking to buy the device or, as in my case, a quick introduction to what might be done with the unit. After all, the instructions provided with the unit are minimal and this compensates for that. Well done to Daniel, and thank you.
@@frits4ever I appreciate the positive feedback. I am glad the video was able to help… I hope you enjoy your Echo show if you buy one! I get a lot of use out of mine.
