I was SO unprepared when I decided I wanted to breastfeed my daughter. I came from a formula feeding family and had no one to get that anecdotal experience from. I took some bad advice from someone who shouldn’t be a lactation counselor that ultimately discouraged me and left me feeling less than. I’ve found so much help and empowerment in your videos and now I know how to be prepared next time around whenever I have another baby. Thank you SO much Allison! ❤️

Allison! I am from the Virginia area and my partner is military as well. Thank you sooo so much for all of your content and your wit, honesty and lovely personality!!! I’m trying to get pregnant now with my partner and trying to get more “comfortable” with what my options are with breastfeeding… If you don’t mind me saying, I’m going to try to not pump and do more breastfeeding, but the two parts I was worried about were ones you mentioned, when my partner wants to help in the middle of the night, and I think you mentioned this in number 7, would it make sense that formula could also be implemented at certain times, or at night, while breastfeeding during the day? Or is that unheard of or not healthy. And like you mentioned in your other video, going to try not to pump, but if needing to feed baby during a trip or vacation etc without pumping, I suppose then formula could come into play or like you mentioned using the pump that starts with an H (sorry forget name lol) if I had the ability to get some in there after a feeding to save for the next day if needed, etc. I think mainly just going on airplane trips or trips back east to visit family, knowing I could just use formula seems like it would be nice, but if I’m able to get some extra out, I suppose that wouldn’t hurt… And also for the boyfriend/husband who wants to help at night or/and (middle of night) feeding, I’m definitely curious about what my options would be for that if he would like to help and take turns, have different shifts etc but feel free to just point me in the direction if you have another video on how or when we can alternate between formula and breast milk. Thank you so much! I definitely feel more prepared now and it’s good to have a back up plan too if milk doesn’t come in etc. (I have a few friends that this happened too, feel free to let me know if you have a video I missed on this!) Have a wonderful day and I adore your mug!!! Coffee cheers to you!!!! I wish you could be my midwife LOL!!!

Thank you so much for your videos. I’m only 8 weeks pregnant but I’m preparing myself this time round. First experience was really bad for me. I didn’t get those precious first few hours with my newborn as I was under general anaesthetic. My milk just then never seemed to “come in” and she was losing weight so we had to supplement formula while I pumped and pumped to desperation. 1 week later and I couldn’t even express 2 ounces. I just felt like I’d lost and gave up. I really regret that now. Your advice is helping my anxiety so much x

What can I take/drink to increase my breast milk supplies? Also I need supplement that will aide me in producing more milk. I heard of blessed thistle or fenugreek. Have you heard of anything else?

The best way is to remove milk more often. So feeding or pumping more often. Legendairy milk has some good supplements I like, but frequent milk removal is key. No supplement will really give you a “WOW more milk” (in my opinion).

coconut water and oatmeal help, along with frequent breastfeeding or pumping.

I wish I had ignored my pediatrician's advice and gone with my gut. They were worried about her losing weight after birth to the point that they had me supplementing her with formula straight out of the hospital and made me take her to be weighed twice a week. A month or so later, they decided she was a skinny baby (neither myself nor my husband were chubby babies) and breastfeeding was never what I'd call successful.

Looking back, I wish I'd gotten a second opinion and contacted a IBCLC. This time around I plan to be more assertive and not let things stress me out.
