I just learnt that i have high porosity high no wonder it had always seemed a challenged to keep it moist. I will moisturise today and then tomorrow it will feel like i never did anything.
ACV is the best way to close your cuticles! I no longer need to mess around with LCO/LOC...I just spritz with acv/water mix (1:3 parts) while my conditioner is siting on my hair and rinse everything out. My high porosity hair has had close cuticles for the last 5 days and it's been humid where I live....no frizz and way less breakage! ACV is the truth!
I hate how ACV leaves my hair feeling super stiff, stringy & like the strands could snap off at any second. First time I used it I thought I had given myself protein overload just to find out my ACV rinse was actually the culprit 🫤
@@ROZIEEEE Oh noo! How much ACV/water did you use? I use it with the redken allsoft conditioner (while the conditioner is on my hair) and it works...maybe too much ACV?
These are great tips! Thank you! However, I think you forgot about us gals with high porosity thin hair. Heavier oils will only weight my hair down and feel too heavy on my hair. I tend to stay with lighter oils like Jojoba, Almond, etc. , but I totally agree with everything else you mentioned. I still haven’t tried the L.O.C. method so I will start doing that👌🏼
Good point for when I do a blowout and want my hair lighter. When I'm doing twists/braids I just want to hold the moisture, so even with thin hair I still do well with the heavier oils. But yes, when doing a straight style lighter is better and I know the moisture is going to be taken from my hair by the heat regardless. Otherwise it will revert instead of remaining straight.
Jojoba or almond oils do nothing for my hair. I have to use JBCO everyday to keep it from drying out. My hair is also fine 4a with some 3c in some areas
Yes I recommend that Shea moisture masque. It's the only masque that works for me. It brings out the real texture of my hair. It may not work for everyone though
You are so good explaining all this. My hair is high porosity but it hates honey, eggs and mayonnaise it’s get hard and stiff also is not so good with those whipped cream products it gets very heavy and weighs down on the other side it responds very good to Jamaican black castor oil and acv.. understanding what’s going on is so complicated I’m trying to learn more and minimize blow drying my hair.
yes ma'am! that manuka honey shea moisture is our holy grail product!!!!! yes yes yes! Girl when I found that we've never tried anything else lol because her hair lovessss it so much!
Thank you for the video. LOC v/s LCO preference may differ for each person. Suggestion: if anyone new to any oils, test each to ensure your hair and scalp agree with them.
Great tips! I was so glad to see you pull out the pomegranate & honey leavein. I was just thinking that would be the perfect one for the method you're describing. I also am using castor oil anytime I'm wearing my hair in twists or any protective style. I hadn't thought of putting cream or a heavier leavein on top, but will try that. Also love the reminder to keep the plastic cap on the parts of the hair not yet styled. I get lazy about that, but it really does matter.
Thank will try!! Especially the oils ive never been a oils person just a grease and leave in conditioner person 🤣🤣 im willing to give it a go as im trying to grow out an afro
I’m very glad to have found your video. I have done very well with figuring out how and when to do my proteins and deep conditioning treatments. I was kind of thrown off about nit using honey because my hair absolutely loves the Shea Moisture Manuka honey deep conditioner. I use it as a base, adding avocado oil, essential oils to enhance the treatments. I have been looking for a styling cream to use on my base when braiding hair. Eliminating crochet styles as using human hair along the length of my hair and then, adding synthetic hair to enhance the color and length to my braids. This helps keep in moisture and prevents breakage. I use Blue Magic Castor Oil formula for my braided and flat twists. I think I may add the Shea Moisture ACV leave in to my regimen. Ny sin recommended it to my many years ago. I don’t like the shampoo. I use an oatmeal honey shampoo bar. I’m a teacher and really appreciate your video!❤
more high porosity sistas! where were ya'll when i started my journey?🤣 loving this content!! ♡ ♡ 2 questions ~ 1) do you have any videos on being high porosity but accidentally using too much protein? my hair loves protein but i do wanna keep the moisture balance 2) i know one of the tips were not to over-use humectants but i saw you love the mielle organics, should we use just in moderation?
Hi there! My protein-free wash day routine is where I talked about my protein overload experience 😭 & should pair the products that contain some protein. I have a few protein-moisture balance videos where I explain that more 💕
Wouldn't you not want to have a plastic cap on while styling since that will keep your cuticles open as you said? Especially if you just rinsed with cold water and did the loc method to close/seal the cuticle. I always spray my hair with aloe vera juice after washing/conditioning to help close the cuticle.
Thank you SOOOO MUCH myLove you just dont know how much you've just Helped me and saved my hair Thank you Heavenly Father in Jesus for Leading me to Her.... You are such a Baby Doll😊❤️🌹💕💯
This is a great video! Thank you for posting. I have in between 3b and 3c hair. I used the Mielle leave in conditioner on clean damp hair. I was disappointed to see how it made my hair feel and look later in the day. I didn't use a lot. Maybe about 6 pumps as my hair is on the med-thick side. But yeah I didn't like how it looked or felt. Especially since it is also marketed as a detaingler, it didn't do that either. Unfortunately, it made my hair feel like straw and dry. It almost looked like I had some serious bedhead going on. It smells really good, but it doesn't work in my hair. I question sometimes if these "leave in conditioners" are just a conditioner that is really used for washing out of the hair, but they market it as "leave in." Otherwise regardless of the brand, why would it make your hair feel like there's a lot of build up? Hmmm. Anyway, I have tried so many things and nothing seems to work. Lol.
I admire your commitment to keep trying 😭 For you, I’d recommend more lightweight products! Unfortunately, Mielle in my opinion is more geared towards type 4 (there may be exceptions) Hope some of my tips were helpful 💕 Gemary on RU-vid is more your hair type & may be better for tips
I haven’t started the video yet but I do have high porosity and don’t know how to take care of it. I don’t have a routine, I don’t know how to deep condition nor what it is. Idk anything and it’s been the same weird awkward length for a while. I want long hair :( or atleast a decent length.
I’m glad you found my channel! I have multiple routine videos you can start off with 😊 I hope you find something that works for you. It will get better 💕
Hey Gwen just came across your video while looking for products for my 18 month old who has high porosity 4c hair. Do you think you think you can do a video on products for toddlers with high porosity hair?
How precious 🥰 My tips should work for all ages! As far as videos, I don’t have any children so maybe in the future I can revisit that idea 💕 thank you for understanding
do you have any thoughts on the African Pride Moisture Miracle leave in cream with coconut and boabab oil ?? i would like to know if it sounds beneficial for high porosity hair !!
When you mention cream for loc method, would you say that butter cream in the same category as cream in loc? As I Am double butter cream for an example
Thank you for this explanation. I just did a big chop where i shaved off all of my hair because it wasn’t growing. I wanna say that I do have high porosity hair because i over use products that have different kinds of ingredients that I use on my hair, as well as washing it with hot water and using different types of shampoos/ conditioner. As well as blowdrying and combing it everyday. I believe that is what caused me to have high hair porosity because I’m an impatient person and I don’t know what my hair likes. I want to be able to use natural products. Or would it be best to not be any products on my hair? Right now my hair is shaved so should I wait until it starts to grow out?
I really like Herbal Essence (the conditioner is so softening) naked volume products. I use color safe products (hair isn't dyed) because it feels so good. It's my favorite right now. It even has scents
I’ve high porosity, 2c waves. Is layering products also good for waves with high porosity ? My hair is sooo dry 😅 or should I layer light weight products, anddd will you make a video for waves/curls ❤❤❤
Hi there! For now I’m making videos for my particular hair type. Feel free to sign up for my coaching program for more personalized advice! 💕 bit.ly/3ZqEmYT
Yes u do, but constant treatment and taking care of it can lead to improvements and ultimately lead to making your hair easier to style and hold moisture for longer periods of time.
hey question so I was planning to use the mielle honey leave in with the shea moisture curl smoothie cuz my hair is pretty damaged I get wet frizz and I have split ends so i was wonder ing if this combo will do me well
hey thank you for the information! (: i just want to ask if this still applies for straight high porosity hair? my hair is so oily on the roots but so many split ends at the ends /:
Hi there! If you mean naturally straight hair, then I would say the concepts may still apply but not the right video to count on for tips since I’m a different hair type 💕 hope that helps!
No I wouldn’t say that! If you use a lot of protein, it can get overloaded but no I wouldn’t say it gets protein overloaded easily. I would say that is the case for low porosity instead
I've never used jojoba oil personally, but it depends on how your hair reacts to it. From my research, I learned that jojoba oil is that it is the most similar to our natural oils from our scalp. For that reason, I predict it won't seal very well but will make your hair feel soft! Good luck 💕
When I didn't know what to do I sat a lot of conditioner on my hair and grabbed clumps and tried to comb it (I was ripping) with as much hair as i could fit in my hand while adding conditioner when it got hard or dry. I eventually had to chop sections to ease my headache. I twisted the detangles parts and washed it out in twists. I didn't even tie it up because head hurt to bad. I stuck a bonnet on and took a nap.
Start in the shower with applying a conditioner or even a prepoo! The one from African Pride really helped it should add moisture and help detangle your hair. Definitely work in sections 💕
@@sonaturallygwen Thanks babe...it's not really tangled; just dry and not healthy looking. I'm about to go back to what our Mom's and Grandma's used: Grease. 😀😃😄
