Can't wait to do this hike next year! What month did you do this hike? Did you camp out with your camper van, or stay at a hotel?

We stayed in the camper and did it in july!

Guys if you do not have any serious experience, don't do it.

And if it's sunny bring a cap or hat. Protect your head 😉

Note: -many people died there before, you will find plenty of crucifixes along the way -the hike as a hole is not an official hiking route anymore (only parts of it) and therefore not maintained by anyone. The government strongly recommends not doing this hike -bring at least 5 liter of water -if there was rain two days before, don't attempt -you better be in amazing shape

Thanks for the video! Isn't there a way to get to the trailhead from Interlaken all by foot? I mean, do you have to take the gondola to Harder Kulm?
@WanderwithXander

I climbed up Harder Kulm by foot. Perfectly possible! You can check out my full video on the Hardergrat to see the conditions. Good luck!

Wow, thanks for the answer! I'll check your videos for sure. I'm going to Interlaken in September, and I'm interested in hikes like this one, in the mountains, and maybe others crossing cities or passing through lakes. Do you have any tips?

@MatheusDinizsr i have a "top 5 hikes in Switserland" video i can recommend watching. Also check out a Via Alpina segment Meiringen-Mürren (newest video) and the Eiger North Face Ultra Trail. Good luck!

Do you have any idea what the weather and scenery will be like at the end of March?
@WanderwithXander
@WanderwithXander Год назад
Not sure, really depends on the recent weather. Most of the times march is quite a bit too soon for hiking I'm afraid!

Hehe saw your other video's but not this one yet. I will take 4.5 liter water, and burst drink some extra just before the rise. Then since harder kulm is biggest climb, making me sweat i will try to drink a liter there as well to also remove weight, then two bottles required for rest. Are super light schoes not slippery on the rock parts like Tannhorn? I didnt buy heavy boots (like some Meindles, but i like boots that don't bend like sportschoes on a step on a rock, so i bought 600 gram, Jack wolfskin force striker Texapore. Hearing you this would still be to heavy :D But then i just like heavy schoes that don't push on your feet, they make me feel stable and not slippery (90km might also be reasy xd). I will take camera no matter what, but every single lens, except two will be left at home including all other useless stuff. Friend of mine is scared the september (or just at +2000 meter) it might be cold, but if i hear you it's actually warm?
@WanderwithXander
@WanderwithXander Год назад
Thanks for watching! You should wear the shoes you like of course, sounds like a nice way to meet in the middle haha. Nice of the camera, curious for the photos!! Sounds like a good water preperation to me. During the days of September it will probably not be too cold, but it really depends on the local weather forecast. Should not be a problem :)

When I hike in September most of the days its nice and warm, but of course it can also get cold and rainy (not advisible)

Great vid. Which part would you recommend to do if I'm just doing a part of the trail. (im staying in an Interlaken hostel)
@WanderwithXander
@WanderwithXander Год назад
Interlaken till a little bit further than Augustmatthorn is amazing! Go a bit further because there are way less people :)

@@WanderwithXander thanks man! About how long would that be round trip. Assuming I go there and back. Or am I better off going down the side to a different town?
@WanderwithXander
@WanderwithXander Год назад
I think both of the options are fine, you might be best of looking and planning on AllTrails. I noted my times in the full 2021 Hardergrat vid, but pace is very personal ofcourse
@rn9940
@rn9940 Год назад
From Harderkulm to Augstmatthorn is about 3h30m ("official speed"), and back prob 3h, so in total 6h30m.

Thanks for the video! I'm planning a trip to Switzerland over the summer with my family and I know for sure that all of us wouldn't be able to complete the whole trail. I was thinking about taking the Brienz Rothorn train to the top, hiking along the ridge to Tannhorn then turning around and taking the train back down. Is that part of the ridge very narrow or technical? I have a slight fear of heights but I try not to let it stop me
@WanderwithXander
@WanderwithXander Год назад
Thats exactly the hike I did back in 2020, you can check out my video (its the most popular one on my channel, so you can find it easy). I found the climb of the Tannhorn from the Brienzer side the most narrow and technical part. So you might want to reconsider this :) but you might get a better idea of it when you see the vid.

@@WanderwithXander Thanks yeah after watching your other video I don't think I'll be able to make it that far lol. I might go with the easier ridge trail to Turren instead
@WanderwithXander
@WanderwithXander Год назад
Sounds like a very good idea! I have a "top Five hikes" of Switzerland on my channel as well. If you're interested!
@rn9940
@rn9940 Год назад
David, you may consider either: a) the ridge hike from Turren to Brienzer Rothorn. (It has as breathtaking views as the Hardergrat, but is much easier, T2.). It's 9.16km (5.7 mi), 1032m up/320 down. Park at Wichelstr. 2 in 6078 Lungern and take cable car up tp Turren. At Brienzer Rothorn, you can either take the train down (62 CHF), or hike back to Turren. b) a short part of the Hardergrat (T2, a but T3): take Harderbahn from Interlaken to Harderkulm (26 CHF), then hike to Suggiture / Augstmatthorn, hike down to Lombachalpe and take bus back down. c) go by car to Lombachalpe, hike up to Suggiture, Augstmatthorn, if needed go to Wytlouwihoren (T4), etc, then back and down to Lombachalpe.
