As a non-BA, I watch these meetings with all the golden gems you have and see the best BA's as almost a corporate therapist who has to help such a living organism function better again.
Start meeting on time Truly working meeting Ask questions -powerful -ask why 30 ways Quiet and listen Analyse Clarify what you didn't understand Reflect Action items
Thanks very practical advice - I like the bonus point. What you've described we do do, but we under estimate our impact. This has been a valuable 10mins
You are so welcome. And such a great point about BAs often under-estimating the value and impact of these activities on the project and organization. A little self-awareness goes a long way!

We could definitely change the title of BA to BT for Business Therapist 😂, because you explain the soft touch to asking questions and gaining trust soo well. Thank you 😊
My favorite is not understanding the system because the business process isn’t clear. The last try I tried the big bold statement I was let go. Clients can be crazy
There are certainly risks with any way you handle situations like this. And I'm so sorry you had this experience. The reality is, the outcome may have been the same if you moved forward with an unclear understanding of the business process. Some clients just don't get how to leverage a business analyst.
Hi Laura! First want to share my feedback that it’s a great video. I also want to discuss one of my problem here which I am facing a lot these days. Let me introduce myself pls. I am an experienced business analyst and have handled multiple projects in my career so far, but I am struggling with one of my client at the moment. I am just engaged with this client couple of weeks ago and to mention, this client has a huge business running for the last 5 decades almost. Suddenly I have been given this client’s 3 projects to handle at a time and I don’t have any idea of their business. The projects are in pre-project phase which means I have to meet multiple stakeholders from different areas of business and to understand their current processes, gaps and improvement to define for to-be. This is one of the aspect of my role I had just said. I have actually replaced one of their BA who is a SME of business and have everything on her tips and was engaged with this client for the last 5 years. The way she used to handle the stakeholder meetings is not what I can do initially as I don’t have any knowledge about their business. And expectation from me is to handle and run all the meetings with same frequency and speed as earlier BA was doing. Could you please give me some tips here to handle this situation pls? It would be very helpful to me.
Hi Neetu, Congrats on this new position. It sounds like you are well suited in your BA role and this is a matter of managing expectations for this client, and helping them understand what it takes to be BA in a new domain. I would look for an area you can make the most impact the most quickly so you are adding value, and then build from there. Also, be sure you are well-versed in a business analysis process framework, such as ours: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cHJkPdBuF4E.html
@@BridgingtheGapBA Thank you so much Laura for sharing the process framework. Insightful! If you have anything else to help me as you also mentioned, pls do the needful. Thank you so much.
Hi Laura! Thanks for the advice! Question for you : what are the "analysis models" that you mention? Can you point me to videos, books, resources? Thanks!
