Why dont all Pioneer mixers or the new CDJ 3000 come with a usb record port ? I have it on my XDJ-XZ controller and love it.

Wouldn't make sense on individual players but agreed, would be good to record on a mixer. I guess it's not a feature pro DJs want/ask for.

Talk about a waste of money, key shifting, My Mixstream Pro can do that. Needing extra equipment just to link the players 🤨. These things cost about £3000 each. That's ridiculous for what you get here.

completely agree. they had the arrogance to even call it a cdj without a cd slot. it is rather an updated xdj1000. except for the bigger screen, all other extras are completely unnecessary. key shift / sync is not revolutionary and in my case mixing top 40 is unusable. for techno and house it's ok, but for commerce the sound changes too much and my audience doesn't like it. this player is for insta dj and posers. wasted money

I noticed that if I connect the CDJ’s to rekord box the double wave forms won’t work. Will connecting via Ethernet box as opposed to a USB connection resolve this?

Yes. It is better on these than on any other DJ gear, because it follows a better set of rules.

Go to venues where they play music to your level, or wear earplugs then. What's the problem? People vote with their feet. but we agree, there's an optimum volume, and the best DJs (usually residents) know this and use it to their advantage. Too loud is as bad as too quiet.

@@digitaldjtips I'm a DJ, I got molded plastic PA cabinets, I installed commercial movie cinema woofers & tweeters into the cabinets, I get tons of positive feedback regarding quality of sound, (great for weddings).

how does this key sync differ from the Serato pro version? especially on the Roland DJ 808. cuz this seems EXACTLY the same... lol

Firstly, Serato Pro's key sync works the same on all controllers. It's the software that contains the key sync programming, not the controller. As I explain in the video, the Pioneer DJ CDJ-3000 regards a wider set of keys as compatible, so when you press key sync, it never moves the track more than 2 semitones from the original pitch - we at Digital DJ Tips call this "fuzzy keymixing" (you can Google it if interested). This results in better sounding key sync. Frankly, the other methods often give unusable results. If music theory-literate DJs reading this are wondering, the reason is that the Pioneer CDJs regards not only the relative, sub-dominant and dominant keys of the original key as matches, but the relative keys of the sub-dominant and dominant too, giving 6 theoretical matches out of 24 rather than 4, meaning a potential match is accessible within 2 semitones either way from the original pitch.

Hi, thanks for the info! I’ve got a Ethernet cable going from one cdj to the other and seems to still have the beat grids / link with one usb stick - am I missing something or does it still work without the Ethernet box? Thanks 😊

That will work. you lack internet and mixer integration but if you dont want or need these things, you're good to go.

side note, i actually love you guys at digital dj tips... everyone else got a personalised comment but i assume i didn't because i'm speaking facts about a brand you have an affiliation with. Side note: I was a hardcore Pioneer DJ supporter since the CDJ1000mk2's came out a gazillion years ago... Made the transition as soon as the CDJ3000 was released and I've never been happier. Literally sold my 4yo 2000 nexus2's for more than my brand new sc6000's. I laughed at Denon for 15 years but trust me, not only have they caught up, but they have flown past Pioneer.

I just play with a usb stick that I prepare in rekordbox. But it takes a long time until the song is loaded, and when I press play it says it is playing but on the screen you see nothing moving. If I hold down the cue button then it does play, but only for the first 5 seconds and then it stops playing again. Also the scratch wheel makes no difference. I have rekordbox 6 the latest version. The cdj 3000's are completely updated. And this should be fixed by tomorrow. Have an important client tomorrow. Do you no the problem?

rekordbox key sync (since 6.5.2) works exactly the same way as the CDJ-3000

I have the 3000. The library column lack important info such as length and kbps. Length can be seen in the info pop up, but kbps is not part of this info pop up ! While we can have this info in the info pop up on the track that is playing…! Not being able to change the stars rating is also a feature requested by the community. I also have a SC6000M and Denon is a step ahead in terms of library information and management as well as the search way better on the Denon. I still prefer the ergonomic of the 3000 but at this price point, it’s a pity to see that Pioneer does not take the community requests into consideration.
