This is important to not overlook: remember to add a "Limits" modifier after you add the noise modifier to your lights. When the noise sends your light into a negative value it will actually subtract light from the scene, which in most cases looks super ugly. Add limits and set "Minimum Y" to 0 (or more) - the noise will never go below the set value. You also don't need more than one keyframe for the random noise to do its thing
@K2Industries
@K2Industries Год назад
The more you know 👌🏾 much appreciated 💯🔥
@matchdance
@matchdance Год назад
Yea was about to comment that as well. You dont want negative value on the light
@travisyee7278
@travisyee7278 Год назад
@@matchdance Usually you don't, like here, but negative lights can be used intentionally for artistic effect in other cases.
@matchdance
@matchdance Год назад
@@travisyee7278 I know its for artistic effect in this case like you, and everyone else. But negative value can ruin your scene if you get used to use it as dark area lighting. Happened to me, takes hour to debug the lighting. So no, you need a note to that. Besides, Trash Benny has said it better. I have nothing to add.

If you use the bevel node you can bake to a texture to use in eevee, unity or anywhere else which is really handy to keep polygon counts low but still give a nice edge effect.

Regarding the light textures, I was thinking in the case of a projector. One of the things you always see with a projector is the dust lit up along the path of the rays. If you just setup a volume shader in that same area where all the ray emissions travel, could the volume "pick up" the light from the area light?

Regarding the first tip... something I learned the hard way: never ever edit a lattice directly. Always use a (or even more than one) shape key. It's not possible to reset a lattice to a prior state. And using shape keys... it should be possible to animate lattices even without the addon. Still a valuable thing to know.
