You forgot the aged skater that is 30 or 40+. They basically hate anyone that is not a skater at parks. Talk about the good old days of skating. How many injuries they have and why they just are mellow guys that just ride around the park.

That's me. The grumpy old fucker that learned on Flintstone wheels. When Urethane wheels came out, we were mowing lawns to get some. I sold a surfboard to get a fiberglass board.

Me also. I had a skateboard when I was younger, but there were no big wheels, no car to drive to a park, and the sidewalks were crap in my neighborhood. Nobody knew about the tricks because VHS was not widespread. I moved on to a drum kit. About a year ago, I met a hot chic half my age riding a longboard and realized, I could roll over rocks with giant as wheels. I have every type of board now. I ride my cruiser board with giant wheels. I just started working on a bit of skateboard tricks, but my heart is in cruising around.

About 20 years ago there was a “toddler skater” at our local park. Lid would show up with his family in full pads and drop off everything in the park. He was fun to watch. That kid? Mitchie Brusco.

My ankles are shot from skateboarding. I miss it. I don't miss the injuries. I can still Ollie, pop shove it, 180 and maybe do a kickflip. I was the buff military surfing skater. I moved into snowboarding now that I'm in my 40s.

Yeah been there I'm 32 and my push ankle it's messed up had to switch to longboard just to cruise around getting old sucks but I still get the itch to go back but I'm leaving the skating spotlight to my 14 year old son now I'm just his support

I’m a 45 year old, very in shape tennis player that started skating 3 years ago when the pandemic started. I only skate in my local skate park. I just push, ride, turn and chill. I’m obsessed with skateboard culture and especially skate board art work. I currently have 23 boards on display in my Man-Cave. I had one really bad fall in my skate career, nothing broken and I walked away just feeling banged up. In my downtime, I’m watching skate videos. What category do it fit in? 😊

I think the rad girl skater doesn't have to be a separate category. As a skater I put myself in the park rat category, some girls are the creative skaters, some are the flatground ones. But I do wish some of the footage used could have portrayed some female skaters :)

I have noticed that skaterboarders, while having a reputation for being "chill", are generally haters and gatekeepers. Seen them hate on inline skaters, scooter riders, surf skaters, long boarders, etc. And they actually think doing so is cool somehow 😂 Most don't really live up to their "chill" reputation, but they do come off as manchildren pretty well.

It’s true. I started out as a park rat, started skating street, and eventually got really into hillbombs. So I got a downhill setup and started doing that, and let me tell you, once I was flying down hills over 40 mph I was hooked, I don’t care what other skaters say about long boards, it’s fun as hell. They are also really shitty towards inline skaters like you said, scooters, BMX, or really anything that isn’t exactly what they do. To me, it’s extremely childish to ever hate on or make fun of someone for how they choose to configure the wheels under their feet. We could all have a beautiful sense of camaraderie, and I expected the skate scene to mature by now. Things are better but I’m still one of the few people at my park who has no tolerance for pettiness

Probably not too "chill" if you don't understand or even bother to ask about skate park etiquette, there are so many unwritten polite courtesies that those other groups don't understand or even bother to try and partake in. Some kid on a scooter cutting you off before you attempt to clear a set, gap or drop could cause you some serious injuries. And the odds are you'll be unintentionally hurt as well.

I was a gap skater. When I passed 25 parks started getting built so was a builder skater. Now I’m in my mid 40 can’t do any of it anymore except press boards. Damn it it ruined my body.
