BBC One's 8-part *'McMafia'* series is outstanding (maybe should have gone with another title)! Thanks for all the great videos! I even clicked the bell icon which is a 1st for me!
I'm a huge fan of Good Behavior. One of my favorite series currently. I loved Michelle Dockery in Downton Abbey, and she excels in her role here as well, as does the rest of the cast. Addictive storyline!
+TechGumbo Your video is the 1st time I've heard of "Sneaky Pete". It sounds like something I'd like to watch . You said it's on Amazon Prime. I'm an Amazon Prime member but due to their membership price rise - *Maybe not for long* . For the interest of watching the series with my mother {at her house on her Fetch TV} is "Sneaky Pete" available to watch on RU-vid *OR* on DVD?
Yes, it was cancelled but it doesn't negate the fact that it was a very good series piece. All the elements that makes it series great were there. I enjoyed it immensely while it aired and still would, had it continued.
@@slickricky55 look for Carnivale, it was cancelled but the 2 seasons it lasted it was good, with some kind of a closure: www.imdb.com/title/tt0319969/
As a fan of "Peaky", "Taboo" and "Saul" I also liked "Rectify" (great acting), "Gotham" (gets better as it evolves - dark origins of so many characters).
Versailles seasons 1 and 2. A history drama, not an action series but with plenty of intrigue, amazing characters and acting, beautiful scenery and it becomes quite addictive after a few episodes. Warning. It does contain scenes of sex and violence that are based on the history of the times. Also Poldark. This also has a historical setting but is pure fiction, based on Winston Graham's series of books set in Cornwall, England, just after the period of the American Revolution which the protagonist has returned from. This has beautiful scenery, appealing characters, villains you love to hate, a great storyline with many twists and turns and a lot of social history. Both of these series have strong women as well as strong male characters. In Versailles these characters were strong in real life. In Poldark they are fictional but still believable.
Taboo is amazing. Vikings were interesting at first but by the firth season they became a disaster. The Expanse and Firefly are must watch and so is the Killing. The Punisher is great, especially the first season. I also liked Beforeigners greatly, it was 👍
Since this video I can say Better Call Saul got even better post season 3 especially the most reason season 5 which rivaled some of the best of BB. I also reccomend Banshee and Strike Back.
The best series I saw last year was The Leftovers. That seems to have been hugely underrated, and criminally overlooked by the Emmys. So far this year, I think the only thing I've really watched and enjoyed is The Sinner, which I binged last weekend. Really good series. But I have quite a few that I plan on watching having only signed up to Netflix a few weeks ago. Other series I'd recommend are The Tunnel, The Returned (aka Les Revenants), Occupied and Deutschland 83.
The Tunnel is a British/French detective series. The Returned (the original French version) is a supernatural series that the American series "Resurrection" was based on. There's also another US remake of The Returned on Netflix that I haven't seen but will give it a look. Doubt it will be as good as the French one. Occupied is a Norwegian drama about Norway being invaded by Russia. Deutschland 83 is, unsurprisingly, set in Germany in 1983 with the tension between east and west Germany. IMO, they're all worth a look.
Humans!! Seriously folks, you've gotta give it a try. A superb series and it's so underrated. Self - aware anthropomorphic AI.......both scary and thought provoking.
*recently 1. got 2.westworld 3.peaky blinders 4.stranger things 5.the handmails tails *older shows -rome -oz -the sopranos *less known -wentworth -you me and the apocalypse -the end of the fucking world -firefly *special mention vicking-black sails-into the badlands need to see : taboo , mr robot , fargo , preacher etc etc....
I couldn't get into Billions. I don't know why. It has such a high rating. Maybe if I continue watching after episode 4. They all just seem so whiny and entitled. Is that the intriguing part? I think it's just watching them fight for approval, right?
Patriot - super quirky unlucky spy drama - Just finished season 1 and can't tell you how many times I laughed out loud! Season 2 started with a HUGH plot twist!
Haven't seen Black Sails yet, was put off by the Michael Bay connection, but I'll give it a shot now. I'd recommend checking out both The Terror and The North Water.
Dark - a Netflix thriller, horror TV series based in Germany. You should add this to. According to me it is highly underrated and should be more acclaimed :)
You fucking said it! When I started watching it I was pretty invested in Boardwalk Empire and it literally made me stop giving a shit and to this day I haven't gotten back into Boardwalk... Which is saying something because Boardwalk Empire is very very good.
@@fairfight9857 It has only one season left which was supposed to come out next year but will most likely be delayed due to COVID. You are right in wanting to watch it all in one go, because it might be hard to get into after just watching the 1st or 2nd season. It's not that they are not good. It's just that they feel MUCH better collectively as a whole. Season 3 is definitely the best in terms of character arcs, storytelling, writing, etc It also contains the best episode of the series(Before S5 came along). After season 3 there is a distinct shift in the tone and things start becoming more.... dramatic. Even though one season.is left I'd recommend watching the first 5 seasons because it's just so...damn good. You'll see why us fans call it criminally underrated.
Vikings is totally underrated here in the USA. I had never heard of it until it was in the 4th season. Many people I talk to have not watched it yet. So glad it made this list. If you are in the USA, it can be found on the History channel.
True detective season 1 is a masterpiece! The man in the high castle! The Sinner! The leftovers! Black sails! Marco Polo is underrated! and i liked the OA, hoping for season 2
BoJack Horseman is such an amazing series to watch it follows a cartoon horseman who was in a famous tv show but struggles to be happy and battles depression. all the characters are simply amazing and you can connect life experiences with every episode. Though BoJack is has everything he could ever ask for he still feels as if he’s incomplete during the series he hurts so many others and tries to drown the pain through drugs, beer, sex etc... and when he does hurt them he feels terrible about it and puts himself down and tells himself how worthless he is. Along with this depression and pain he cannot really seek out help because he doesn’t know how to express his feelings properly as he’s afraid of hurting others even more caused by his verbally abusive parents who didn’t pay much attention to him a when they did it was usually to tell him how he was a waste of skin and how his feelings don’t matter. Anyways this show is amazing please I recommend it strongly it also is one of the top tv series on Netflix now. It’s one of the only shows that show the struggles of reality of any ones everyday life no matter if there famous or not anyone can connect to this show.
Not a show but a Netflix movie I wanna recommend to u guys, called “Spectral” ..highly underrated but one of the best movies ever..give it a try guys, trust me, you’ll love it!
Is it rly worth it? It sounds interesting, but I'm from Germany and if I hear it's produced in Germany I'm alrdy extremely cautious :x Most German shows are shit as fuck
Lol I waiting for Peaky Blinders to appear somewhere but finally thought no one have heard of it. But there you go, it was listed no. 1 and I have to agree. The acting on that show is top notch.
Snowfall is another well worth watching series, good list though, I especially liked Ozark and can’t wait for Better call Saul new season too. Another cracking drama is Start up which should be on this list.
I just can’t get into Ozark and idk why.. I’ve watched the first 6 episodes twice and can’t seem to get into it. I finished Game of Thrones, Vikings, halfway thru The Last Kingdom, starting Peaky Blinders when I finish that. Watched TWD up to date and FTWD. Watched Hell On Wheels. But CANNOT get into Ozark.
I couldn't agree more with #1. Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy are walking sex~my knees buckle 😂 but I like the entire concept, even if it is entirely fictional. I like dark dramas~probably more than I should, and Peaky is the embodiment of dark drama. I'm loving it.
HaHaHa I follow Peaky Blinders on the BBC and everytime it's shown Twitter erupts with the 'wimmins' up and down the land, err!! complementing Cillian on his fine performance.
Hell yeah! I've watched alot of tv shows in my 39 years, and Banshee is without a doubt in my top 5 favorites and is number 1 on the best action series. I also reccomend another Cinemax show Strike Back which comes in at a close 2nd place in the best action series.
1. Dark (Mind blowing time travel) 2. The 100 (Post apocalyptic plot twists) 3. The Magicians (Buffy the Vampire Slayer-eque magic based world building)
Animal kingdom is really good story. It's like a modern time peaky blinders and Michael from Peaky Blinders, Finn Cole, plays pretty much the same type of character on Animal Kingdom. It's one of my favorites and it's on TNT
here from Birmingham :) and I have to say peaky fooking blinders are truly an amazing show . I would definitely recommend it . and for the record i have to say their story was real , they were a gang who were living before in Birmingham.
i waited so long to watch peaky blinders im so glad i finally did! great show! one time i stopped after 10 min but when i got through the first episode i was hooked HIGHLY recommend!
Preacher, power and american gods should not be honorable mentions, those shows are pure gold. At the same level as legion, taboo and better call saul.
Power, Snowfall, mayan mc, Manifest True detective, Kingdom, Ozark Breaking bad , G-o-t, Vikings Last kingdom, Taboo, Peaky blinders Your honor, The serpent , The following, Them, banshee, better call saul, homeland All a great watch guys
Preacher is definitely an overlooked masterpiece. it's one of those shows that just gets better season after season. The characters are unique and very well developed, and even though the plot is quite all over the place, acting makes up for it. this is one of the best comic book adaptations. forget marvel movies
Legion is an amazing show!! Between the writing, acting, WONDERFUL cinematography, and amazing scenery, HANDS DOWN best show EVER. Can't wait for series 2!! April 3rd can't come fast enough!
The Last Kingdom season 1 & 2, and 2019 season 3 and many more seasons come out starting in 2019. It's a Very underrated show, filled with lot's of old english humor.
Shameless which isn't really underrated so many people watch it, but it's still my favorite show of all time next to dexter! and 2 really good underrated shows are how to get away with murder, and the blacklist
