It should be “ Top 20 best TV shows of the century for US” titled.

Person Of Interest is top 5 imo. The only negative is it was obvious they were forced to end it quickly. Plot development within plots. Great character development. They had to kill off characters quick due to top execs pulling the plug but they did great with what they had to work with.

Breaking Bad is the perfect Tv show made ever. It just got better and better with every episode and every season. There will never be any other show topping BB.

Much respect you have the Leftovers at #4. I’ve always said it shows the full potential of Lindelof without network restrictions and commercial breaks. Doesn’t have the pop culture fame of Lost, but doesn’t have the plot holes either. Absolute masterpiece.

Great list, would personally add Succession and Severance - still ongoing but they are so enthralling!

Better Call Saul ist easily one of the best scripts in all of media, not just shows, but film in general. True art. Peaky Blinders should at least be a mention ☺️

Happy to see Battlestar Galactica on this list. It was largely ignored due to the earlier show but it is seriously epic.

I personally think one of the best tv shows ever made was NBC's Hannibal it at least deserved an honorable mention. It was way ahead of its time and still to this day a timeless tv show. The writing and cinematography was phenomenal .

Mr. Robot, Peaky Blinders, and Silicon Valley should've at least been honorable mentions.

I don't know all the tv shows, watched a few and my favorites are here, except for Vikings. For me Vikings is one of the best, if not top of the list. It is much more than a historic hack and slash action show. It showcases with great details the life and the philosophies of that time. It is a show of great characters, of ambition, humility, understanding, adventure, exploration and everything that makes us human, full of historical specificities. It is suspenseful, dramatic, philosophical, a game of chess, a romantic saga. It can get tedious at times, given it's length, but oh man, is it glorious.

The writing in Better Call Saul is at times even more impressive than that of Breaking Bad. But I assume it didn't make the list because season 6 isn't out yet.

Really amazed that PRISON BREAK, SHERLOCK, VIKINGS and PEAKY BLINDERS didn't even made to honorable mentions. It hurts ! They shouldn't be that much underrated !

I don’t think people understand the impact The Sopranos had as a series that everyone in production thought was gonna tank and instead went on to be one of the greatest shows. That said, Boardwalk Empire was also a great series

The Wire will go down in history as a masterpiece.. Unmatched writing and depictions of bureaucratic institutions. I’ve watched the entire series several times and pick-up on something new each time. Also launched some great acting careers. Breaking Bad was fine and, unfortunately, gets compared to The Wire too often. They are completely different shows.

For me, Six feet under deserve the top compared to the others that I really really love but SFU made me go through all the range of emotions and changed me literally.

Why is everybody forgetting about FARGO. So underrated TV show, maybe in the top 10, but definitely in top 20.

The fact that they included stranger things and not Dark in the list , says a lot about the intelligence of our society.

My favorite of all time: Dark, Breaking bad, better call Saul, Black sails, The expanse, Lost, Game of thrones.

Game of Thrones "didn't quite stick the landing". The understatement of the century. Game of Thrones nosedived into the freaking airport and blew it all up.

24 was the most addictive show ever. Each episode drew me into the next, and before I knew it, I was up all night. My work suffered. 😆 But the best show ever was Breaking Bad, no contest.

Snowfall is getting no love here it wasn't as influential as breaking bad but it's one of the best shows to watch start to finish and it gets better every season

I have never laughed so hard at anything than the very end of the invisible car gag in Atlanta. That was a brilliant set up and ending and just cemented how good Atlanta was for me.

Glad that the sopranos got the respect it deserves. Even though i prefer brba but sopranos was in the mind of the creators of brba while creating it. I give it to nostalgia

I agree with the list but how has nobody mentioned Supernatural. I think it deserves at least an honorable mention. I loved that show, start to finish.

I can’t believe how little people have seen Dark, genuinely one of the greatest tv shows made of all time, i’ve never seen a film or show that’s actual writing is mind blowing, i haven’t got a clue how anyone could ever write that show and make it make sense 10/10 writing 10/10 directing 10/10 acting 10/10 cinematography 10/10 soundtrack 10/10 editinf 10/10 production design, costume design etc quite literally perfect also where the hell is Better Call Saul and Bojack Horseman?

Better call Saul is one of the greatest shows of all time in TV. It is often underrated compared to other shows as it is a sequel (or more accurately a prequel).

Can‘t believe you left out Supernatural. The Winchesters rule.

Broad City definitely deserved at least an honorable mention. One of the most perfect nods to the eccentric underbelly city life and a vocal siren-call of modern feminism-plus just consistently hilarious and charming. Apart from the Chilean online soul-child of it “Psicóticas Inseguras” (which is also excellent), there’s really nothing like it.

_Deadwood_ absolutely deserves its spot here, and deserves to be on any all-time list. The writing, acting, direction, every aspect is absolutely sublime and the frequent description as "Shakespearean" is spot-on. But, one nitpick... _Chappelle's Show_ as the "most important sketch comedy show of all time"? _Monty Python's Flying Circus_ would like a word.

To me the Leftovers and Breaking Bad are tied for number one. BB was awesome but The leftovers was something special...for such a short series, it had more WTF? moments than any other show I've seen. Both are infinitely re-watchable.

Lost was my obsession. I sooo loved that show. The Wire kinda broke me inside for awhile.

I’m not arguing with this list, but I’m here to make some recommendations! The 100 s1-4, The OA, hand maids tale, FEAR TWD, last of us, queen of the south, BANSHEE, warrior,are all some of my re watchable favs not mentioned. A couple of these are lacking in later seasons.. but the first several seasons are great. Also HTGAWM is a secret fav of mine because viola Davis is bomb.

The Wire isn't just a TV show; it's art. Still my favorite all time, but I understand that Breaking Bad and Sopranos were more commercially recognized. All three are in my top five. Surprised that Boardwalk Empire didn't crack the top 20 though...

There should be a subtitle of most “Popular Best Shows”. Meh.

I'd take a lot of the stuff out towards the end and add Boardwalk Empire, Sons of Anarchy, Dark, Mr.Robot & without a doubt Better Call Saul.

The 100 was one of my favorite shows a few years back, I’d recommend for anyone lookin for a immersive world in a show 🤷‍♂️ also has very interesting character development

Breaking bad is the best show ever made. It was compelling from start to fInish. Sapranos had some dull moments in middle seasons for me.

It's great seeing The Leftovers so high. A very underrated piece of television, especially seasons 2 and 3.

I noticed that the rating on IMDb for a show is a rating given as a whole and not the average rating of all the episodes as I always thought it was. So, me being me, I added up every episode rating and divided it by the number of episodes to get an average and it makes for a very interesting read. I only looked at the following shows and ranked them from highest to lowest. - Breaking Bad: 9.03 (62 episodes) - Mr. Robot: 9.01 (45 episodes) - Better Call Saul: 8.86 (50 episodes) - The Leftovers: 8.86 (28 episodes) - Game of Thrones: 8.83 (73 episodes) - Peaky Blinders: 8.81 (30 episodes) - The Sopranos: 8.70 (86 episodes) - The Wire: 8.68 (60 episodes) - Mad Men: 8.48 (92 episodes) Breaking Bad had a rating of 9.43 for its final season (16 episodes) and is the only series with an episode rated 10/10 (Ozymandias). Mr. Robot had a rating of 9.32 for its final season (13 episodes). Game of Thrones had an average of 9.06 if we exclude the final season. The final season of Game of Thrones had an average of 6.33 (6 episodes). I've excluded Chernobyl as this is a miniseries with only 5 episodes and should rather be compared to shows like Band of Brothers, The Pacific, etc. However, one of the best shows that I've watched with an average rating of 9.60 across the 5 episodes.

Vikings (2013) ?? Perhaps it didn't make the list because it's loosely based on reality- but it mostly is a scripted drama & remains my favourite TV show. Other honourable mentions: Narcos, The Last Kingdom, Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, Peaky Blinders, Bates Motel & IMO the most UNDERRATED TV SHOW OF ALL TIME Banshee.
