I cut through a 1/2" dia rebar when helping with an Eagle scout project. No problem. Took time, but less time than walking 1/2 mile back to truck then driving home to get a bigger saw. Swiss Champ rules! Every single person should have one. I often give them as graduation presents. Thanks for making the video Felix!

#11 - I don't know about the other models, but on my Victorinox Ranger the metal saw tip is shaped for cleaning dirt out of your fingernails... and yes, I do use it for that!
@heritagejonery3879

I think the file is one of the best tools to have. I use it for my finger nails, for sure the hygiene is important but I have also used t to fix warn locks, clean bolts so I can fix my car, use back as a scraper, the end as a very small screwdriver...The end is good for getting dirt from under your nails too. It's very handy and I tool most people don't have even in a group where people do have multitools on them. I love the 91mm Ranger model pretty much the best of everything 👌 (I say this with a spartan in my pocket though 🤔)

....huh. Using the saw to lift the can was genius. I just gave my 12yo niece her first SAK (a Huntsman), which is probably the first nice thing she has to her name. (🥺). We just got back from camping, and when she wasn't on her phone, she was opening and playing with all the implements. Anyways, I will be sure to show her some of your tricks!

Files cut in a forward motion. Rub your thumb, on the teeths of the file, and push forward and then push backwards, you will feel that the teeth cut, only in forward motion. At least that's how work, all the files I have ever used, including Victorinox Swisstool Spirit. Someone once said, that if you use them back and forth like a saw, you dull the teeth and eventually the file becomes unusable. I don't know if it dulls the teeth, because I never used them like a saw, but the fact, that they cut only in forward motion, is true.

Hellow RU-vid! I love your opening line Felix! Makes me smile. I used my swiss champ once to cut a padlock of a fire escape, because the key got lost. Cut in in a minute or two. Constructive criticism re: volume; when you speak, its low, so I turn it up, but then your music gets so loud in my ears (I use earphones) so, I have to lower the volume again or just pull out my earphones.

Another trick- I did this 25- 30 years ago. On my swiss champ, with the fish scaler tool opened, I filed inch marks on my scale, extending the inch markings to 6 inches. Felix, in 1977 my parents, my brother and I toured Engleburg and Lake Lucern. What a beautiful country you live in! But you already know this! I heard the cow bells in the background of one of your videos. Brings back memories. Great Videos!

@FelixImmler
@FelixImmler 4 года назад
Hallo lieber Robert!

If it were hardened steel, it would also be very brittle and the number of repairs Victorinox would have to make would grow to the stratosphere. In addition, customers would be left without the entire item in the meantime. That is why they make it of a softer steel but that does not give them so many problems. I at Spirit managed to adapt an HSS saw blade. In the Swiss Champ I have, I have not found a way yet but I keep trying.

I was biking around my street when my neighbor stopped me and called me to his porch. He had his bike locked to the stairs metal but this thick lock was stuck even though he entered the correct code. He asked me if I had a bolt cutter. I didn't. I grabbed the only thing I had; a wire cutter. Didn't work. Didn't even scratch the silicone outer layer. So I looked for a metal saw but didn't had it. The guy had less tools than me, he was trying with a butter knife .. so I thought .. wait a sec. My swiss champ has a metal saw!. So after 30 minutes if intense sawing and sweating I've managed to cut through the 4-5cm thick threaded twisted secure bike lock with just the metal saw and the help of the pliers. SAK SAves the day!
