I love the shock some of these devs have for people not finding the secrets, but so many of the secrets are "something nobody would do, but one have to do 100 times at 3am under a blood moon in an obscure part of a map to trigger it".

I immediately thought about the literal Easter egg in the Futurama PS2 game. It wasn't given away by a Dev or anything, but it known about for years and the method to see it without clipping the camera out of the map was only found a year or so ago by OddHeader and SlippySlides, both great Easter egg channels, and it's pretty obscure.

A similar one was for Halo Reach for the flyable pelican and phantom! It was not revealed perhaps a long time after release but after a year or so people were asking so much for flyable pelicans that in a blog post they confirmed there are in the game with a screenshot of the New Alexandria mission (where you fly around the city in a falcon). After that the commnunity joined forces to deeply search for it, which to be activated you had to activate a hidden button and afterwards fly a falcon or banshee through a building which had a huge hole through it, after that the vehicle would transform to a pelican or phantom. It was so epic and awesome! I was of the crowd that always wanted to fly one so to finally do it felt so good, thanks good ol' Bungie!

@@pulsefel9210 This is similar to a side quest in the original Final Fantasy VII game. Once you can access Fort Condor, you have to return there and play the minigame after every major story event. There's a set list of rewards, including a weapon for Yuffie that you can only get in this manner. (I think it's the superball--a weapon with no materia slots that is basically a tennis ball in design, but pretty powerful if you can get it early). If I remember correctly, this sidequest is actually listed in the Bradygames Guide so it's not really a secret. I feel like the FFIX quest is a call-back to that.

In the Super Nintendo version of Zombies Ate My Neighbors, there's a hidden flamethrower weapon in Level 22 that is incredibly difficult to find. First, you have to get to Level 22, which by itself isn't too hard if you know what you're doing. The hard part is getting to this level and having an extra Skull Key in your inventory. This isn't easy as they are an extremely rare random drop from container items like chests, curtains, cabinets, etc. and there are no spare Skull Keys in Level 22 to be found. There _is_ an extra Skull Key hidden under a fire in Level 15 - travel to the south-west corner of the map where a small island is located. Put out the fire with the Squirt Gun or Fire Extinguisher to get the key, then hang onto it for 7 levels. Once you get to Level 22 and have the Skull Key, you have to traverse the mazelike level to get to the Skull Door with a Bonus Level icon behind it. Grab the icon and go to the right wall of the room. There's a secret passage there that contains the Flamethrower weapon. No one knew where it was until one of the Konami devs explained it during an interview.

The reason being is I was showing a friend you could upgrade the explosive gel and I set 3 of them on that wall. Thing is that secret doesn't get you a trophy so theres no way for me to prove this. I challenge you to find the secret with the lasers outside dead space 2 and the combination to open the room that's inside the next area down below in chapter 11. If you go in the direction you're supposed to go inside, there is a top floor you walk across. There's another floor down below that you can access but I know there's a way to move the lasers a certain way to expose a wall that leads to a door to go down below. I saw a video years ago that doesn't exist anymore showing how to do it. If you travel the top floor in that room I explained and go to the next area where the spitters on the ceiling are, there's actually a save point down below if you search for it but most don't look around because they are worried about everything else. If you find it please please let me know! Thanks and good luck figuring it out. I did it years ago but that was back when the game released. I can't remember the combo.

I upgraded the number of explosive gels I could set because of that wall because bigger boom might work. Once I was there, I just used Detective Vision to get everything that I would get, item and information wise. Everything else that was in there, I didn't think too much about because I assumed it wasn't relevant to playing the game. Also, I didn't think much of the city map because its a map to the city he lives in. If I had looked at the map, maybe I would have noticed the City Proposal text that hinted at the upcoming game. And, even then, I wouldn't have thought to much about it. To me, this was just one more hidden room in a long list of hidden rooms, nooks, and crannies.

Like with commercials no one sees, there's very little point to putting that much extra thought and work into coding a secret that no one can find. Sometimes I think devs are a little too cheeky or too smart about it for their own good. I do like that they're there in game, but it's very much the 'if a tree falls in the forrest with no one there to hear it' kind of a problem. Also, like with the collectibles meant to get us to explore where we won't normally go so we can "appreciate" the work in graphic design and level layout done, sometimes it just goes a little bonkers.

The Arkham one weirdly enough I found without the reveal but was in high school so I didn't do message boards or reddit type of posts and just thought it was a cool easter egg people found playing cause it just seemed like there was a weird wall in that room. For some reason I always blasted three gels whenever I was using it and messing around. Especially when I felt I was reaching the end of the game and didn't want to end it. It's a shit habit I do in almost every game I really like. Just postponing the ending of what I'm enjoying.

I always say 2 things about easter eggs. 1)Most are so obscure that no way someone finds them. For example in this Mass Effect one in this video you have to go to a certain point in the map and walk a certain way. Yeah nobody does that. So yeah. 2)Developers don't need to add so obscure ones. Just make them easier to find.
@lunarjellyfish5538
@lunarjellyfish5538 Год назад
I think the Mass effect one has a higher chance of being found than a lot of the more complex easter eggs. Out of the millions of players who have played Mass Effect, I'm sure someone walked around those solar panels and got the easter egg. Perhaps they didn't notice the rover arrive, or they didn't realize it was a huge secret so they never mentioned it online. But it's completely within the realm of possibility for some random shmuck to go looking for loot or something and circle some of the solar panels looking for them. In contrast, the easter eggs that involve going out of bounds in a convoluted way, or doing things a repeated number of times with no hint whatsoever, etc... those have got to be datamined or hinted at to be found. There's just no way.

I’m pretty sure I actually found the mass effect mars rover when playing one of my first playthroughs as a kid, since I always explore things way too much and I guess I walked around the panels and doubled back in just the right way. I didn’t actually know it was an Easter egg and was undiscovered, I just remember thinking it was cute. It’s been a long time now, but in the very least that rover looks extremely familiar and it’s one of those foggy memories I have along with trying out the biotic charge my first time playing

This is the same with lot's of these so called easter eggs. People are out there who have seen the egg but don't say anything because they think it's just part of the game. For many games you have to have played it more then once to know what is and isn't supposed to happen and most games don't get replayed.

The majority of easter eggs someone has already found even ones that no one has mentioned today but no one says anything because they think it's just part of the game. The problem with an easter egg is if it's not something super crazy a lot of people will think it's part of the game and won't mention it. Also if a person is on his first playthru he won't know what is and isn't supposed to be there in a game especially when it's nothing special so you have lot's or most people who only play a game once who never say anything. Very few people play a game more then once yet there are probably lot's of little kids who only own like 5 games and play the game over and over and discover an easter egg but because they weren't recording the game they don't know what they did different this time to make the egg appear so they can never replicate it again to prove to someone. This happens a lot.

I had seen the rover back when I first played ME3 on Wii U (my first experience with Mass Effect), but I didn't know it was a hidden detail and I certainly didn't know that it would approach you. Had a similar experience back with Pokemon Yellow. I somehow accidentally pulled off the first part of the Lvl100 Nidoking glitch, but with a different "random" Pokemon generated, getting a Lvl 7 Lickitung. I did not know this was a glitch (it wasn't revealed online until years later, and I found out about it years after that), I spent nearly a month trying to catch another Lickitung (thinking the percentage was just extremely low) to try to have a better one, as again, I didn't know it was a glitch. At least my team overpowered through the rest of the game, or at least the team I had by the time I reached the forest.
