One time I was in the first place some how I got the horn and a boo came and right after the boo stole my item a blue shell came and hit me right at the finish line
I had a blue shell in MK7 online and had this happen. While everyone was reversing down the track I just passed them all, still holding the blue shell.
I was once driving in first place, then I saw a blue shell. It started circling around me, but I accidentally ran over a mushroom at the PERFECT TIME, and dodged the shell.
A trick I've used is that since invincibility frames last a long time in mario kart 8 deluxe you can throw a banana forward and slip on it on purpose and you won't take damage from the blue shell because of the invincibility frames.
I had to reread this like 4 times before I understood it. I thought you were saying you would used the star to be invincible, then throw a banana peel for no reason and slip on it…. “Why would you do that if you were already invincib ooooooh, I get.” Anyway pretty clever move.
If you are in first place when the shell is shot off then it doesn't matter what place you were in when it hits you. It'll still hit you regardless. I know because I tested it when I fell back to 3rd place and still got hit.
@@Kikan319 Weird, I always slow down out of 1st whenever I see a Blue Shell on the map, don't have anything that can stop it and I'm not very far ahead and it always hits the guy that passes me. Do you know it's coming by looking at the map or by hearing the sound? Cause if it's the second option it might be that you didn't do it quick enough. The Blue Shell takes about a second to switch targets if someone else enters first so it's possible that you'll slow down right before it shows up and still get hit.
@@AZ-dd2wg I was wondering if it would maybe fly a lap around the track then come back to you if you were still in first and hit you. But yeah, you do.
Throw the banana behind you in hopes that some idiot hits it (preferably the person in second place) and use the coin so you don’t lose as many when the blue shell comes for the booty.

《《Braixen 12》》 probably. The boo steals an item from potentially any player currently holding an item, so in the event that another player had a boo, you could have a chance of taking it.
I've had it where you go down a particular path and the game momentarily says you are not in 1st, the blue shell switches targets and passes in front of you. when you merge back onto the main path you are in first again and the blue shell is in front so won;t try to target you anymore.
I actually got two for ya. First there's a tough way where if you have 1 or 3 banana peels, throw them in front of you at the right time, and you'll only take the peel slow rather than the blue shell. The second, is more of a funny thing to do when there is people close behind you. When you see the blue shell on its way, watch behind you and slow down at the right moment to have others feel the wrath of the blue shell with you lol
He did mention the other one though. He said in one of the first points that you can slow down and let 2nd place get hit. The only difference between your comment and his idea is you just added more people to the scenario. 🤷♂️
I had a blue shell targeting me, I was hit by lightening at just the right moment where the shell did nothing. Also, I learned the hard way to never hold the bomb behind you for protection...
Yeah seriously. "aaaaaand booooooooom" and making annoying explosion sounds with his mouth made me want to stop watching before even getting halfway. Too drawn out, too slow, too annoying.
Nearly every single time a Red or Blue Shell is coming for me while I'm waiting on my Item, either it's a coin, it doesn't appear on time at all or I mess up the block out of pressure. I swear there's only like 10 times in my life where that didn't happen. One of those times though a Blue Shell was coming for me and I was just spamming ZL trying to get my Item and it ended up being a Super Horn and saving me at the last second.
With videos like this, if someone gives useful information, I normally subscribe, but the fact he’s clearly stalling to reach the 10 minute mark is really off-putting.
@@RAGEAlanBun AND when the video is literally obvious info, ur invincible with a star so a blue shell wont be able to hit you obviously, do they think we’re all braindead?
@Fizz_Fanta I’ve had that happen before, but I was playing with teams. So the Blue Shell that would have hit me, hit the person behind me because the Blue Shell thrown was of the same team that I was on. If that made any sense.
@@arctistarfox yes it does, if lets say u were on the Red team, if someone from ur team who is in the lower ranks throws a Blue Shell it hits the person who is closest to 1st place or even is 1st place from the Blue Team, thats logical
In Yoshi Valley the Shell is súper prone of getting lost if you just take the path to the right for some reason, all I see is how it attempts to do a second lap itself but it disappears overtime before it can actually catch up with me.
I hate Boo so much. I never get him, and he always steals from me at the worst moments. Every single time I get boo'd is when I'm trying to shortcut, I get ready to tap L, then my items disappear and I look like a moron slowly driving on the grass.
-number 4: mushroom -number 5: golden mushroom (basically a mushroom why repeat it?) -number 7: super star -number 8: crazy 8 (basically super star why repeat?) In that case you forgot: -number 11: triple mushroom because it is not a mushroom nor a golden mushroom -number 12: when other players drop their super star and you take it, because you didn't get it by grabbing an item box (very situational) Did I get my point?
>Triple Mushroom is basically Super Mushroom. Gold Mushroom is counted as an entirely different entity. >Nobody drops their Super Star in MK8, so I don't see that being a very legitimate way to do so.
I did the shroom technique by accident I knew that it was going to take my item anyways so I used it and dodged it. And I was just flabbergasted I was in such aww.
One time when I was playing Mario Kart Double Dash, I was at the ramp at the end of Bowser's Castle, and the blue shell was coming. Then I flew into the air and the blue shell completely missed me and I won the race.
I learned the boost method from back in Mario Kart Wii in literally the most situational manner possible. I was playing Mario Circuit and there was a mushroom that dropped from a hit goomba and i had a blue shell on my tail. Me panicking obviously i hit the mushroom and i hit the mushroom at the exact moment the blue shell was coming down and I dodged it. Thats like a 1 in a million chance of happening
Is the Boo new to Mario Kart 8? Yes. It was not in the WiiU version, therefore it is new to the game. Saying that the Boo item is new to the franchise would be incorrect. Some intellectual you are. 👍
The N64, Mario Kart 64 had boo item which was usable during the actual race. Also it has been already pointed out that it was available in the very first Mario Kart series the SNES "Super Mario Kart" however only in battle mode.
I’ve done a couple races with just “Shells” once before. You can’t have 2 Blue Shells on screen, one will actually despawn. I’ve tried it. But you can hold 2 so there’s that!
BerniePlayz yeah... I can see why someone would consider it 2 different things.. but its so similar to the idea of getting a triple shroom that makes me count it as one

A tactic I always use is very similar to the bail method. Purposefully run into an item obstacle, like a banana or even a koopa shell. Time it right and the blue shell won't be able to impact you, because you'll still be taking the damage from the item on the ground, which all take much less time to recover from than the blue shell does. This helps a lot, especially on tracks with no pits to fall into so bail isn't an option. You still get bananas in 1st place fairly commonly (more often than mushrooms), so a bit of advice, hold on to them and if a blue shell is coming, throw it ahead and run into it. It's pretty easy to time and saves a lot of seconds.
NineTron 2.0 he explained how to use a mushroom fine, but he didn't then have to tell you the exact same thing with a gold mushroom, and the star, AND the crazy 8 did he

On Mario Kart: Double Dash, if you drift really quickly around a corner there's a chance you can dodge it. When I had the GC I could do it a few times and it's an amazing feeling
Another good way of not getting hit is to leave the game when one is circling around you - sure, you don't win, but you also don't lose as you left the game - making the round void
I have no idea how but in double dash I avoided one by drifting and it somehow flew past me down to another level of the track. wish I had video of it so other people can figure out how to do it. it was on the big wario track in the crown cup btw.
komodo t It's the same as a mushroom, use the boost to speed away at the last second. It's very situational, the you and the shell have to be at the right place at the right time, and hard to pull off so it's not worth mentioning on this video. Congratulations to actually doing it!
There is one funny thing about blue shell in double dash, in Yoshi Circuit, 150CC, if the IA is 2nd, she will try to let you get hit by the shell at all cost. If the AI is in a turn, she will mostly take the shell, and fall. After that, the game go totally crazy, because the AI which are meant to be your "rivals" (each time 1st or 2nd place) will be 7th/8th and the game will try everything to make them 1st, but they will bug so hard that they cannot escape the last places. Because of this glitch, one time, i got hit by 3 blue shells. In a row, and every others bot were slowing down to let the "rivals" come back ... it's totally crazy x)
I'd like to hear more details on the timing for #1. There are definitely situations where it doesn't work and slowing down just results in getting passed and blown up. I've never quite figured out the timing on this, though.

And I hate when people who don't even have a single original video uploaded on their RU-vid channel acts like they know everything it takes to make a video but they actually have not even the slightest clue as to how much work and dedication it takes to make even the simplest of videos!

But I am not going to just stand for people that haven't posted a video before thinking they know how much work it takes to make a video when they actually don't. Why do you think I have uploaded a true video and not just a play through for awhile now? 🙂
the reason they're mad is that when you make a video and it's just over 10 minutes, you actually don't care about the content but more about the money, and i can point out a lot of places in the video where he just stretched it to pass the 10 min mark.
He missed out on one other way to dodge a blue shell with a booster pad... but I got shocked before the strike, I don’t know if it was invincibility frames or the booster pad
7:57 You can only get items from people in front of you when using the Boo, if there’s nobody in front of you, you get a mushroom. That’s what I’ve heard at least.
11) Outrunning the blue shell the blue shell slows down when it gets closer to you, so on 200cc theres a chance you can outrun it. (best way is to get into a cannon and get ahead)
I’ve dodged two blue shells. The first time was me running into a mushroom someone had dropped and the second time, I had my friend throw a red shell at me at the perfect time and the blue shell didn’t even affect me.
If you hit a banana on the right frame before the blue shell hits you, you will still be in the spinning animation and wont get hurt by the blueshell, might be frame perfect but not sure, it happened to me like once or twice on accident
in the method number 1, you cannot get hit by a blue shell because the game tests if one player has or not a blue shell, from the rest, so there will always be only one player with blue shell, and not two, because that would be too op
Another way to dodge is actually with the bananna peel. If you slip over it, you have a select time of invincibility, and you can use that to dodge it. Since banannas are actually items you often get in first, it's surprisingly practical
There is this werid glitch that happens sometimes on the GCN course thats like, Sherbet something where if you are underwater in that course when it is thrown, it will just infinitely go around the course and never hit you. It was so weird seeing it just go on by
+Babydaisylover what Emilia Nardone said but there is actually a way to avoid the Blue Shell in Sherbet Land. Let the Shy Guys get hit (downside is the ice will break XD)
Years ago I remember doing the same in MK Double dash. In some situations I remember also being able to avoid blue shell by micro boosting at correct timing (especially effective in steer downslopes or curves). I don't know how these methods would work in modern MKs though.
When you see a video that lasts 10:02 you just know it's going to be full of filler.. and boy, this was one of the worst. You were really struggling huh
@Whozit's & Whatsit's maybe. But if you only have something interesting to say for 3 minutes, you have to find more interesting stuff to say.. not fill up a whole with video with rambling.
I’m so glad that Mario Kart 8 has it to where the target is not chosen as soon as it’s thrown like in DS. In Mario Kart DS, from what I understand, it’s based off of who was in 1st when thrown, so you can’t bait it like in Mario Kart 8.
