You could and should do an entire video on cruiseplum alone, it is 2nd to none. If one is retired or has a flexible schedule, it is the absolute best way to find value in cruising. When deals pop up from cruise lines, one can snag a cabin before the cruise line decides to raise the price once again. The beauty of cruiseplum is that one can sort by any criteria. My advice to my fellow cruisers is to be patient and wait for deals.

We do not book "on board" any cruise line any more. Several times it wasnt "the best" deal we could get. Looking things up at home we could have done better without them. (on our own) We are Europeans, living in Europe - maybe it is different for other countries.
It definitely is possible. Keep in mind that you can almost always combine the onboard offer with any other offers. That's what we do in order to get both together.
If you still out there. I have been to Cancun once a few years ago. 4 days. Maybe I was looking for something else or something but well just had to get used to it. So my question is.... This crusing seems similar to an AI. food etc. So what does a person do on or in these ports? Do I pretty much need to book an excursion to take up my time? I see some only have 7 hours to hang out.
Thanks and great question. You are correct, in many ways it is like an All-Inclusive -just on a ship. What we love is you get your transportation and can move around. You are in somewhere new almost by the day. That makes it exciting and also helps you see places you might choose to return to in the future and spend more time on land. Other times, you've seen it once and you're good. As for what to do - check out the description where I share a video on how to not always book a shore excursion and instead plan your own day (using A.I. and ChatGPT - it is amazing) We also like using services such as Viator and TripAdvisor to help get ideas and plan things to do. We mix just getting off the ship and exploring on our own, with sometimes doing an organized activity.
Great question and wish that was the case. However, typically cruise lines offer this assuming the 2nd passenger is there to then buy a bunch of other stuff on the ship from the spa, specialty dining, drinks, drink packages, excursions, etc. They won't typically extend these to a solo traveler. However, there are cruise lines who have special cabins for solo, are more friendly as well - there are good options.
Hello and thanks for the question. Yes if you want the extra special discounts. However, definitely not to incorporate the bulk of the strategies but to stack this one extra layer yes. For example we are on a Royal Caribbean ship right now - and I booked a cruise for later in 2025. They gave us a sharply lower deposit (something like $99 vs $300) and an extra onboard credit.

We have booked our first repositioning cruise from Lisbon to Miami this October. We plan to use cruise instead of airline since we both are in mid 60s and traveling with airline is difficult for us. Normally in this case you are using Chase as your travel agent -- typically you cannot then assign it to another travel agent as well. Have a great time on the cruise - sparkling new ship!
Sometimes we've gotten deposits as low as $99pp. Also definitely check like you have whether refundable - many times even if not the cruise line will allow you to transfer the deposit to a future booking we've found.
