The GRE and GMAT are two of most used graduate exams for those seeking to study a Masters Degree or Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree. The Graduate Record Exam and Graduate Management Admissions Test have been taken for over 50 years and are taken by approximately 600,000 and 300,000 people worldwide annually, respectively. I've taken the GRE already last year, yet I find it hard to let go of your lessons. I believe they'll keep my Quant in shape while going through my graduate studies. Thank you Phillip.

Great video Philip! This reminds me of a book I must recommend to anyone who just doesn’t “get” maths, like I did in the beginning. Its titled : “Mathematics for the non-mathematician” by Morris Kline. It’s a look at mathematics from a cultural and historic perspective. Not only does it explains a lot on what Philip has mentioned in this video, it’s also full of other fascinating stuff like how early mathematicians reasoned for the creation of zero: a number to be able to distinguish “no quantity” from “nothing”. It’s really cool and fun and has practice questions relevant to quant. The author manages to take the most abstract of mathematical subjects, and make it exquisitely human. You might be the type of person who needs to understand the hows and whys first before maths can begin to makes any sense. Worth a try especially when you’re sick of a certain 5 lb book.

Great advice Cardi. I wish I did more stuff on the origins and practical uses of this Math. I know most people want what is immediately useful prioritised though. Once I have completed the GRE syllabus that's what I will probably start teaching on here.

My God, the book is over 600 pages, this is like a lifetime study.

@@preciousamaechi5887 😅 I know a bit thick , it’s got a tiny bit beyond GRE math like proofs , calculus , even some physics, but the bulk of it is just the history which I found interesting. It’s really not that bad , I promise 😊

Another excellent video, as always. I think facts 3, 4 and 9, all about 0 will be valuable to me because I seem to make a lot of mistakes with regards to zero. These details might help me be less lazy. But I love Fact 10 about the Babylonians. I think the Babylonians were amazing and never get as much credit for many things as they deserve. Thank you.

I don't remember where exactly I got this info, (some test preparation company I think) but it is said that there will be no situation in the GRE that will involve imaginary numbers or, dividing by zero. Even though the square root of negative numbers does not really exist in real life, it does in the GRE??

Careful; dividing by zero may disrupt the space time continuum and possibly trigger an apocalypse
