To compare mid size and mini pickups to full size trucks is like comparing apples and oranges. I had a Subaru Baja and loved it. It fit my needs perfectly.
I had a 84 GMC S-15, it had the 2.6 V-6 and 5 speed. Very low powered and leaked oil really bad. There was also a problem with the 4 wheel drive system, I had to check that it was engaged before using needing it, had to do the same thing when disengaging too. As far as saying these pickups covered, all had poor interior quality, all of the pickups did,and still do. That’s just how they’re made since the 80s. I did however like the dodge Dakota when they first came out, the jeep Comanche too.
The Chevrolet LUV wasn't made by GM in collaboration with Isuzu. It was simply an Isuzu Faster wearing a Chevrolet badge! The engineering was Japanese and the vehicle was produced in four different countries (Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines; none of which was the US). To call the Chevrolet LUV an "American" pickup truck is the equivalent of calling Robin Williams a "woman" just because he wore a wig in the movie Mrs. Doubtfire!
