Great channel but, PLEASE: Change the background music from videos for something more appropriate. This happy blues music doesn't fits the sad spirit of this tragic histories.
Judy Garland's addiction problems were NOT a result of her "turning to drugs at a young age." MGM Studios FORCED prescription drugs on Judy as a very young teen, first to "correct" her so-called "being chubby"--according to studio standards--via amphetamines. THEN, when the amphetamines kept her from sleeping properly, barbiturates were prescribed to help her sleep. Judy, as a result, became addicted at an early age, caught-up in a life-long vicious cycle of having to be "up" for work, then "down" for rest. For your channel to imply that she became an addict "on her own," is simply inaccurate.
you are kinda misleading the fact's. judy garland didn't start out with the drugs on her own, the studio force fed that garbage to her to meet deadlines. the studio literally got her addicted.
I'm glad someone mentioned this. Hollywood was notorious for keeping their child stars on a grueling schedule and dosing them with uppers to get them energized, and downers to get them to rest. She didn't seek out the drugs, they were poured down her throat.
yeah, really and elvis died on national TV live from what we knew he overheated on TV and it was quiet after that but then came out he OD'd. And Judy Garland died in the 70's we thought coz it was on TV unless that was a rerun of an old TV show and our folks didn't know she had died.
A couple of posters here say that Garland had a choice. She didn't. She was under CONTRACT to MGM at 13. Plus, her mother was a pushy stage mother on the MGM payroll to make Judy mind; MGM had a lot of money invested in her for various projects. Plus, Judy herself didn't know it was harmful. In those days, you did what the studio (and your mother) told you what to do. There were no advocates for child actors and weak, if any, child labor laws. Poor Judy was screwed from day one; she never had a chance. 🌈
Studio used to give her uppers and downers and slimming pills ,it's usual culprits the studios whi push drugs onto the younger stars then they end up addicted
Judy Garland was a genius such an amazing lady. The emotion she expressed when she sang. It is incredibly sad. She was so vulnerable her mother was very pushy and the Hollywood system they destroyed her.
I mean I thought she was great and all but nobody can make you do drugs you have a choice even if it’s given to you by a dr we are free to make our own choices and usually we make the ones that make us feel good
@thebayharborbutcher9115 Judy Garland didn't have a choice when she was a child. Her mother was abusive. The Hollywood system was also abusive to her as a child. As an adult she had terrible abusive marriages. She was giving slimming drugs as a child amphetamines. What Judy needed was true unconditional love. She got that to some extent from her fans. Judy was an amazing mother. It is hard to put into words the love that people have for Judy Garland. Here in the UK she is much loved.
I’ve always found it laughable about Hollywood. Where drugs are so prevalent yet the drug dealers to these celebrities are never arrested or mentioned.
He was the clown ,the one that entertained everyone around that didn't give a shit! About him all these people cared about what they were getting from him...free drugs and alcohol sadly . ❤
@@grisellpena9716 It's a pretty well documented behavior pattern. Chris Farley was the same way and died at exactly the same age, 33. Getting high as a kite is a way to escape their insecurities and when they find that people like them better that way, it sets their addiction in concrete. People like that don't usually live to see age 40.
It is not just a celebrity culture that this occurs. My mother died at age 42 from a barbiturate overdose. My daughter died at age 36 from alcohol abuse. It happens to us "little people" too.
He's not saying it doesn't. He's simply made a video focusing on the "celebrity" aspect of it. You're not that special sweetheart, it's not always about you
Chris Farleys death was just so sad. Such a genuinely sweet, loveable guy who had such severe insecurities that he turned to booze and drugs to cope. Ultimately dying on the floor with a dirty prostitute taking a picture of his final breaths while begging her not to leave him😢 he didn't deserve that
Seems a bit odd to hear these stories of profound depression and drug induced death accompanied by a jaunty guitar based backing track. Maybe im just weird
I hate videos that have background music! Totally distracting and completely annoying. Trying to make it sound so dramatic. Computer generated crapola.
Quite like the guitar music in the background. Sounds a little like something from the greatful dead at times. But yeah, it doesn't go too well with the subject matter.
It should be noted that Judy Garland didn't do recreational drugs. She was addicted as a teenager by her mother and most definitely by MGM, to PRESCRIPTION DRUGS. She was given uppers for energy/weight loss, and dowers to come down from the uppers. Since they were prescriptions from a DR, no one thought or cared that they were harmful. Her young body was addicted and the pattern was set for life! She died at 47 from "an Overdose" of sleeping pills. No indication of suicide. Her body just failed, after a lifetime of abuse. ■ I didn't watch the rest of your video. DO YOUR RESEARCH THE NEXT TIME! 🌈
Phillip Seymour Hoffman was hands down my favorite actor. So many wonderful roles that he masterfully portrayed. He had the ability to fully immerse himself into the character role he was playing with amazing sincerity. Rest in peace Mr. Hoffman. You will be sorely missed💔 🙏⛪️♥️
As a highly discerning film lover, I LOVED his seamless work in ‘Doubt’. He truly had great range. Love & Light from Miami Shores🦚 Stay safe mates✌🏼🌎 Have a care for one another🫧🌲🤍
For my $$$, there's been no better high than a Belushi (Speedball)....it was my best friend until it took everything from me...Only by God's grace am I here. Oh, fun fact: it is an absolute nightmare to get sober from. Especially without medicated assistance. Don't do drugs.
Yep. The best high you can get. Nasty nasty work. Tore my life apart. Speedball addiction on top of methadone addiction , worst detox of my life. Absolutely suicidal level stuf. Glad to be alive. I’m a teacher now.
Yeah it fits the narrative of the so called War on Drugs and the ignorance that continues to make it a losing battle after over 50 years. Education, losing the stigma and understanding that it is a social and health issue not a criminal one is the only solution.
I met two old guys that lived in the Dakota building, they were amazing. They told me they worked in a high end restaurant at the time jfk and monroe were having an affair. That they all found out she was gonna tell all about their affair, and that she died three days later “She was gonna tell everyone on the Friday, but on the Monday she was dead. That poor young girl”.
@@v-town1980 So now the term "old guys" is offensive? I swear, some of you people get out of bed every day just looking for something to be offended and outraged about.

12:37 "Medical Examiner determined that his death was accidental..." They later found, in Hoffman's apartment, 50 bags of heroin and other quantities of prescription drugs and buphrenorphine to treat his addiction !? It's safe to say that the "re-hab" work was going badly. His death was accidental but when you have access to 50 bags of heroin, your death is almost certain...and most likely, painless. Hoffman was a superb actor IMO, and obviously a very complex human in his real life. I loved his work. I shall miss him.
50 bags of heroin is only 5 bundles it’s really not that much for someone with a lot of money and bent on being a dope feind every day speaking from experience of course… also the suboxone was most likely there for when he went on movie shoots overseas or long vacations
Having access to as much h as you want doesn't necessarily mean that you will keep taking more and more until you die. Its not like coke or crack where you're constantly fiending for another line or pipe. With h you usually just want to take enough to feel good, then you leave it for a bit til it starts to wear off, when you take some more. Speaking from experience.

When I watched the Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, I got a lump in my throat. Watching his friends come in to finish the role to highlight Ledger's life and that he indeed was liked in Hollywood circles, was touching.
Whitney Huston was far more destructive then several you listed and in a short time she also was responsible for the death of her Daughter. Tragic story of drug abuse on an epic level.
a lot of people think bobby brown introduced her to drugs due to his bad boy image. in reality, it was the opposite and she was already doing hard drugs when they met.
All addicts are destructive. I agree she should have been included in this list. Not because was worse than any drug addict, but because she was an addict.
It is very common to overdose after being clean. That’s what happened to Janis Joplin. That’s what happened to River Phoenix they had not been using and then they went back to what they had been using before. That’s how my cousin died. She was clean for over 360 days and then ship got some roommates that were into drugs, and she went back into it as if she had never left it, and it killed her.
What a lot of bad writing, bad research and vague inaccurate information. Judy Garland managed to get a few acting roles after Wizard of OZ?? She had three decades of movie roles including a best actress Oscar, sold out concert shows including at the famous palace theater, a self titled TV variety show and raised three children including another Oscar winner Liza Minnelli before she succumbed to an overdose. Don’t trust anything you watch obscure RU-vid channels. Plus it wasn’t her fault, the heads of MGM studio put their young stars on uppers and downers to get 70 hour work weeks from them.
River Phoenix watched that story too many years ago. He died on the sidewalk in front of that bar restaurant whatever it was with his brother Joaquin trying to help him. He literally died in his brothers arms. It’s such a sad story.
Viper rooms there's a story that the guitarist out of chilli peppers not flea the other one gave him the drugs ready prepared in a syringe and said have that you will love it it was 8 times a normal speed ball

As a recovered heroin addict myself I thought he was a great actor and maintained and controlled his addiction for a long time. I thought he would Hunter Thompson himself but he lost his grip.
@@jadezee6316They would've just labeled it "hysteria" back then. A convenient catch-all word for anything causing a woman to not do what men expected of her.
Can we go over WHY these people turned to drugs instead of condemning them for soing so? I imagine being a woman in the "golden age" of Hollywood wasn't easy
Concur, I have little doubt the Kennedys decided she needed to get snuffed! She knew too many embarrassing details and had threatened to go public with all of it - that was the kiss of death for her.
Ooof. Yeah, that one hits deep. I was a sophomore in high school when he died and I remember crying all day at school about it. My dad and I watched SNL every Saturday without fail. He became our absolute favorite. Fellow costars say he was the exact same off screen as he was on, and that has to get so exhausting after a while. Just feeling the need to be "on" at all times. It was clear he had a good heart. I love that guy and always will.
I get the feeling that the maker(s of these videos have never experienced real drug addiction - physical addiction accompanied by the physiological and severely depressive components … or understands that the most dangerous time for many addicts for potential overdose is after they have been clean for long enough for their tolerance to lower enough that the amount that they would have normally used who,e in physical addiction becomes fatal.
@@v-town1980 what I mean is WTF are they messing with that for...? Have you EVER heard a positive Meth or Heroin story...? What is your end game AFTER you've tried it...? How do you see this ending...? When someone goes to buy and try this crap there are plenty of options to back away..... TO NOT BECOME an ADDICT.....
It was very popular in the 70’s and they claimed back then it wasn’t addictive! Seriously. McDonald’s had coffee spoons they had to change because it was perfect for tooting coke
my SIL was a producer on a show called Head Over Heels in the 90s that Chris Farley's brother was in. I worked on the same lot so I would go to tape nights of the show. One tape night, Chris Farley walked across the soundstage during a break in shooting. The audience spotted him and went wild so he waved and did a somersault. He looked terrible. Way overweight, sweating, his skin was grey. He died not long after. It was so sad.
I don't think River Phoenix should be included in this list because he was an on and off user. He just happened to die from using too much after not using for a long period of time.
Disagree. I heard he DRANK heroin handed to him. A, if you're even fooling with drugs over pot (and you can be an addict, which you know when you can't get through a day without it and can't stop thinking about it), you're an addict. And B, taking ANYTHING handed to you is OBVIOUSLY addict behavior. For starters. Plus, having to quit because you're using too much, then not having sense enough to STAY stopped. And if forced to those meetings and listening at all, they'll tell you all about that.
Actually John Frusciante was the guy responsible for putting River on heavy drugs in the days leading up to his death. Frusciante was a filthy emaciated needle junkie at that point
I agree. It was a shock to people because he was so young and well-liked, not because he was such a "bad addict". There were plenty of young actors that were worse addicts and it's amazing that they didn't die.
Show me who your friends are and I’ll show you who you are I mean his best friend was even to much of a drug addict for the chilly peppers that’s saying a lot but I could be wrong I mean you don’t usually hang around drug addicts unless your one as well but he was young so it could be a just tried a little here and there and then tried some pure h and died. I mean when you mix it with benzo’s anything could happen🥹
Satan does not tempt people with sex drugs and money. As Breakng Benjamin sang, he crawls beneath your skin and becomes your enemy within. The deadliest drug is loneliness. All he has to do is remind us, " If you think you're lonely now, keep in mind you always will be."
I don't know if Phoenix was actually on a binge. The documentaries I've seen have him on a clean streak while he was filming a movie, but an interaction with the lead actress coupled with not being allowed to perform that night due to someone else coming is what set him off to use again. Obviously I wasn't there though, so who's to say.
Am I the only one could see that River was stoned all the time? Every time I saw him onstage, on the red carpet, during most interviews, he was stoned! His mother must have been blind to it.
Hoffman in Magnolia was pretty amazing too, as a humble hospice nurse. Also, the loyal lapdog Grant, in the Big Labowski. Versatile is an understatement, man was a chameleon!
It's not so easy. After 26 yrs of sobriety, I relapsed. People always say Rehab, Rehab but it really hasn't changed. I was shocked. So sad, not disgusting
As another addict, I just don't know what can I say my man....Because I know exactly that you heard everything what the people can tell at this time. But be careful and ....I'm sorry, praying for you! ✌&💜Be proud of yourself btw. I'm proud of you. Damn, 26 years that's so amount...My whole 'career start 22years ago and was a full and a half year clean. That's all, and now I'm on the methadone program again. Be strong, I'm with you! Amen.
As an old heroin addict in recovery, I can say with a great deal of experience and accuracy that mixing coke and heroin will kill you faster than just about any other drug combo. I did speedball on and off, but it almost killed me but I was extremely lucky to have 4 good friends with me that performed CPR for 40 minutes! Anyone who has done CPR knows this is inhuman. Even after this, it took me 16 years to get clean for any substantial amount of time and now I've been clean for over 4 years. Typical folks have no idea what it's like living with addiction and it's amazing just how ignorant some manage to be even with the current opioid crisis we have.
Sadly, Matthew Perry just lost his battle with long term substance abuse. Easy to get into, not easy to get out. Ever wonder what the song Hotel California is about? Read the lyrics again. Get it now?
Referring to the narrator--presenter's opening comment: "Hollywood: a place where dreams come true"...and where those dreams and whimsical personas, with their fragile and deeply troubling souls, attached-- are defeated completely and for many, it seems, left to die a most lonely death. Sad...
Hollywood has always had issues here. From the beginning, there was always the understanding that drug addiction or alcoholism was only a problem if you couldn't work or cost the production money. The term functional alcoholic applies. If you couldn't work, your career could decline quickly. But you could die.
@chrisbuckley1785 when my dad worked as a engineer, a shocking number were functional alcoholics. But they had to be careful due to security clearances and work on government projects.

The Golden Rule: if gonna party, don't do anything addictive more than 2 days in a row! Otherwise you about to fall off the cliff overlooking hell!😅 Growing up i had William S. Usually don’t work when you party Friday thru Mondays I always hated waking up for work or school on Mondays so I got high too many days in a row boom hooked on dope for 15 years off and on now. Not something I would recommend it’s really hell once you realize you literally can’t function without a drug in system unless your rich or el chapos son then you might be ok if you don’t die of cellulitis or hep c or just falling asleep and never waking up. Some really scary shit but I loved basketball diaries and requiem for a dream before I even used drugs so maybe 🤔
@@thebayharborbutcher9115 I empathize, friend. However, if you're talking about weed, which of course is a crutch as you describe & can definitely make you feel powerless, it isn't even as addictive as coffee physically. So if you don't take caffeine, morning meds, etc, then yes, maybe you have something to be concerned about. Otherwise is really no different than taking your vitamins to fuel you up to take on the day. Of course the ultimate goal is to be high, not get high, but unfortunately it often takes decades to find the right keys to unshackle yourself from the shit-show. I can't imagine being younger & functiong in today's fukd up world, but beating yourself up just to cope will only make things worse! We're all addicted to something, friend, even if only mentally! If we went back to grow your own meds you wouldn't have to call Pablo papa just to be able to function!😅 It's a crime against humanity. Big Pharma Smack rules today, & that's a helluva lot more to be concerned about getting hooked on than the daily wake & bake! Btw, I actually loved Basketball Diaries, even though was heartbreaking. Is prob my fave DiCaprio behind his amazing performance in little known, "Rimbaud". But i bought Requiem when it came out, watched it once, & I never care to see it again!😅 The momma speed-freaking alone gave me too many nauseating flashbacks!😅 If you were talking about speed or junk, I also empathize! i miss anna nicole. i legit think she was genuine and all the stress of people piling on her constantly is what turned her to drugs. i think she was a small town girl who got grabbed by hollywood too fast and she had no idea wtf was going on because of it and in the end she just wanted to be alone with her son. i mean he was the last piece of her husband and he died i think a day before her. she obviously couldn't take it and it just makes me sad. river phoenix too, not only did we lose good talent there but also a gorgeous human being. i always had a crush on him with marilyn i know she always thought of herself as not pretty or atleast she had parts of her she hated. despite being known as the most beautiful woman she still was insecure and it had nothing to do with others and had everything to do with her own self confidence. im the same way, i get told im good looking a lot but i personally dont think so so i always shoot those comments down. its also partly that i dont wanna seem cocky or narcissistic if im feeling myself one day lol. i dont wanna put that vibe out there cuz im not that type of person
she and her lawyers went to the restaurant that I worked at. for those going through the comments, I've got good news. God is good because He gives His blessings to everyone, whether they be good or bad. but everyone has at least, told a lie, or stolen something in their life. and that makes them sinners, and God will not allow sinners in heaven; in His presence, because He is holy. so, God has to punish the sinners in hell, because God is severe and just. but God is also love and He made a way for some to be saved from His wrath. here are the steps: 1. admit that you're a sinner and are lost. 2. realize that the penalty of sin is death (hell). 3. believe that Jesus (who is God) died on the cross, was buried, then rose from the grave, to pay the penalty for man's past, present, and future sins. 4. trust Christ alone as your Savior, and not on your own good deeds to get you to heaven (nor a combination of your faith and self-righteous works). 5. pray to God NOW that you're accepting Christ's free gift of salvation because if you die before making this decision, it's too late, and you'll 🔥🥵😈 6. and to be a disciple, tell people about Jesus, read the bible, go to church regularly to know God's will for your life.
Pep pills were big, just take an art class. Of course it spilled over to musicians, because we all took art classes too. Unfortunately for all of us Judy Garland died at 47, and looked about 77.

Not good if true. There are many rumours about Elvis Presley some might come from people being jealous of him it is hard to know what is fact and what is fiction. I don't like gossip in general neither about famous nor non-famous people. Elvis is an American icon. Priscilla ended up marrying Elvis she could have walked away. She was nearly 22 years old by that point. Priscilla benefited a lot financially when she divorced Elvis and so did her family. I like that Elvis Presley was from humble beginnings. I think some people can be quite snobby about him because he wasn't from a posh, educated background. Elvis Presley to me represents youth. He was young when he first started out and a lot of his fans were teenagers. I saw how people took advantage of him. He wasn't perfect but nobody is. I prefer Elvis to Priscilla. I like his lovely daughter Lisa Marie Presley too. Very sad and tragic about Lisa Marie and her son Ben too. These people might not be intellectuals but there was good in them. I have met some social climber types. Some snobby types. Some arrogant types that think they know everything. Priscilla and her family remind me of that type. Priscilla's mother and stepfather were instrumental in her getting together with Elvis. Priscilla seems motivated by money, fame, prestige, by her association with Elvis. Priscilla was physically good-looking so men were attracted to her for that reason. Priscilla knows how to charm men and get them to do what she wants. Priscilla might even have narcissistic traits. I have met people who think that they are better than everyone else. In my view Elvis was the true star for many reasons. He was very generous. I like that he is a Southerner from America because sometimes people look down on Southerners in America but so much music came from there. The USA isn't my home I'm from the UK. I learnt about America through some of musicians from the Deep South the blues, the jazz all of it. We as humans all have gifts things we can bring to help others. I feel with Priscilla her main gift was how she looked and she was good at making money. She seems selfish and manipulative. It sounds a shallow existance. She has done bits of acting and modelling. She likes clothes/fashion and dancing. She likes animals. The best thing to come out of the marriage was Lisa Marie Presley. When people say are you an Elvis fan people sometimes think it is funny to be an Elvis fan. So much lies were written about Elvis after he died. Elvis was a human being but people make jokes about him even the way he died. I think that Elvis Presley was/is cool. I think that people can relate to Elvis even if there life might be quite different to him. Many people have had bad relationships either in friendships or romantic relationships. Many people understand loneliness. Many people understand loss and grief. Many people have gone through bad divorces and rejection. Many people suffer with addictions, health issues, disabilities and eating disorders. Many people have financial difficulties. @windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823

Quaaludes (methaqualone) is _not_ an opioid/opiate. Also, what makes an addict "worse" than others? What drugs they were addicted to? What they did to get money for drugs? How long were they addicts for? It doesn't seem either quantifiable or fair on the person. Maybe a list of "who was the worst schizophrenic in Hollywood" or "who was the worst mentally ill person in Hollywood". That doesn't sound like the right thing to do but, hey, they people in the videos are "just" junkies after all. I'm surprised you're able to make videos and upload them - the WiFi on your high horse must be very powerful.
This is the 10 most famous Hollywood overdose deaths,. The worst addicts survive a long time and cause great pain for everyone they know. So, if by worst addicts you mean those addicts who have a decade or so causing enormous problems for everyone who encountered them , then Robert Downy Jr. and Charlie Sheen would be here. Both caused hundreds of people real grief simply because they were a bit more careful (or lucky) with their drug intake and didn't OD.
Exactly. This list couldve been half the cast of The Outsiders and Young Guns. Plus Keith Richards. Dude has done more drugs than this entire list put together.
