Let's hope that the next GENERATION XBOX will be as powerful as an BRAND NEW 4K+ GAMING PC with full support for the upcoming 8K resolution. WHO'S WITH ME?!
+Brennen Parker Even if you totaled up all the XBOX console sales it would still be 12 million units under PS2's totals of 155 million as of October 10, 2017.
Randy Bradley Why don’t you just take your brindfolds off and see that the Xbox 360 outsold more than the PS3. And that infamous PSN hack didn’t help the PS3 either.
Nathaniel Enochs Yeah, that doesn't change the PS2's dominance. I think everyone would agree Sony won that console generation. Xbox 360 did beat the PS3 though.
Games today be like: You: yay after many hours I finally installed this game. Console: Before you play this game you must update it. Appropriate time is: 3 hours 30 minutes
People moaned about the Kinect always listening to them, but they are quite happy for the likes Amazon Echo, and Google Home to be always listening to them now.
Nebula Gamers nope in addition phones and apps on the phone can listen in if you allow access to microphone they use it for ads and other shit to make it user specific
This is so true. Leads me to the an important question why were people bothered by the fact that Kincet may or may not have been listening but you have these smart speakers doing it right now. Very good point.
have you seen how short attention spans and how bad voices gamers have? the writer of the script needs to be a gamer not the person who reads it that will be btter i think
Even to this day it is the most sold console of all time!! 155+ consoles sold. second is the Nintendo DS. The PS2 is the number 1 best selling console ever
kyleplier dude... consoles dont "win out" based on graphics. If youre talking about that generation of consoles, and you just say that one of the consoles "won" you could only say that about the ps2. They dont refer to the graphics before the statement, and plenty of other people in the comments agree that they need to rephrase or cut that line out. Dont be a dick on the internet just because you can.
TheGamer can you please explain 2 me ABOUT THE PART when you said that the PlayStation4 was the UNDERDOG?... PLEASE EXPLAIN THAT PART.. THANKS I WOULD LIKE 2 UNDERSTAND YOU AND WHERE U GET YOUR LOGIC FROM..
yeah an N64 controller is problematic it only has 1 Joystick, 1 trigger also the three prong design thingy is not very good, the Duke Controller is better, They made a smaller controller which is good.
It's a good controller.........If you are left handed.... otherwise you are fucked playing Goldeneye Multiplayer, lucky for me I'm left handed and have no problem using a 64 controller they should have swapped the D-pad and put it where the A, B, and C buttons making it a right handed controller while still having the classic controller for lefties that easily would have fixed the problem back in the 90s and people would have no reason to bitch whine and moan about the 64 controller, at least in my opinion.
Once again, you do not get your gaming facts correct... In the 6th Generation of video games (PS2, Xbox, GameCube, Dreamcast), the PlayStation 2 came out on top, with 155 million sales and a discontinuation date of, get this, 2013 for worldwide! The Xbox was 2nd in sales at 24 million sales, Gamecube 3rd with 22 million, and Dreamcast at bottom with 9.13. Get your facts straight! And also, your insults against the PlayStation 2 were quite uncalled for. Disrespectful! Remember what I said - the PS2 came out ON TOP in the 6th Generation. And calling the Wii a "novelty?" What. The. Hell?! Apparently, you don't understand that there are people who are quite serious about playing video games on the Wii. Once again, more disrespect... Grade: F (Do I really have to grade this, knowing it will be the SAME EACH TIME? Probably not, but I'll keep doing it.) -SonicRaptor98 Gamer, and critic of TheGamer
I disagree with your point about the wii, as he said 'novelty for many'(not all) which is accurate since some people absolutely did use in a more hardcore way while many simply got it for wii sports and very little else
Coot Animu Gril PlayStation never used to do the same scammy bullshit Xbox did. They only did it with the PS4 to compete with the Xbox on the amount of money they were gaining from it. Plus, both 'pay to play online' subscriptions include bonus features and free games monthly.
I actually use Xbox SmartGlass quite often and have never paid a cent for it it is a very well done app and works perfectly with my Xbox One So I'm not quite sure what the fuss about smart glass is.
Let's hope that the next GENERATION XBOX will be as powerful as an BRAND NEW 4K+ GAMING PC with full support for the upcoming 8K resolution. WHO'S WITH ME?!
You say SmartGlass, or something like it is not even achievable in 2017. Phone compatibility issues? Your research and lack of understanding is laughable. Majority of the world uses one of two OS's. PS4 has second screen capabilities through the PlayStation app, which I have used for many different games. Having the game map on an tablet opposed to constantly pulling the map up in game is a great feature.
How is not having HD-DVD built in a fail? The Xbox 360 came out before HD-DVD, it’s hard to have support for something that isn’t available. The PS3 shipped with a BluRay drive cause it was out but slowed initial shipments right down as well.
No they didn't, it would never work with PS2 hardware. Even if it had external hardware acceleration the lack of HDMI output would have killed the picture down to 540p if it output at all.
I had my 360 for 6 year and the red ring of death only appeared when it over heated leave it for 5 mins and then its good to go,plus the Original xbox controller is good, i loved it.
The old controller was awesome, fit well, was comfortable to hold and wasn't as cluttered and cramped as other controllers used to play morrowind and need for speed with it for hours, on the other hand I loved the n64 but that damn joystick gave me blisters all the time.
Yeah my 360 lasted 7 without a single RRoD from day one and only died from the disc reader dying. Can't blame them for that much usage. People were dumb and left it on non-stop, that simple.
why are you pissed about an external HD DVD? how is this a fail? the disc war between panasonic and sony reached its peak on 2006, when SONY launched the PS3... nobody gave a fuck about HD DVD when the xbox 360 came out. microsoft simply put their horse in the race and gave you an alternative to buying an HD DVD player. you're just grasping at straws here.
muffinmonk And HD DVD wasn't even a thing yet by the time Xbox 360 was out, sooo.... How the hell are they supposed to have an built in HD DVD player if it wasn't out yet?
Fail for bundling a Kinect when people don't necessarily want one, and fail for not bundling the HD-DVD player even if people didn't want one? Can't have it both ways, guys.
Itsthatkid10 The N64 not using CDs The GameCube not really having online and using small discs The Virtualboy The WiiU No proper voice chat Breaking a deal with Sony causing the PlayStation to exist The Wii being underpowered (it still sell well but it lacked many decent third party games because of this) The Switch and WiiU only having 32 GB of storage. Having online which often lagged on Brawl for the Wii
If you're being ripped off that bad that you're: A) paying $150 per controller and B) in need of triple A batteries to use it? I think the only one you should be mad it, is yourself.
xBotcho It was true for the OG Xbox. You can watch movies without it but you won’t be able to control anything without the remote. Microsoft realized this mistake and began bundling in the remote in 2003.
Don't know if it was an update but controller did pause etc if you could find the right buttons still think you needed the plug in item tho it's been a while memory maybe wrong
The Playstation series has always been good at solo player (or cooperative) campaign based games. While that's what Xbox sort of started with, it always had the one thing Sony never really cared to have in their games: a multiplayer experience. To this day: PS games tell great stories while Xbox lays good foundations for online matchmaking (I know Sony has quite a few games now that fit that category).
Ps2 is the best game console ever made in my opinion and sale numbers dont lie And i agree with Bella luna for multiplayer xbox for solo ps even if you look the numbers of multiplayer games gamers it would be xbox owners mostly but solo lovers always get the ps at least till xbox360 and ps3
Hold on..... PS2 won that gen in sales and Gamecube won that gen in iconic games that have aged the best. I’m confused what exacty Xbox actually won except the participant award.
Danthepaperman6/ClassicalCabc but by that standard, you could say that NeoGeo pocket color won against Gameboy when we all know that’s not the case. Seriously, all xbox won was a slow sarcastic clap. Can we also point out that you couldn’t watch dvds on xbox unless you bought the media remote and sensor when the controller could have been fine.
Lol k lets nitpick a little then because I can complain about some bull-fuckery involving the PS2 and Gamecube, can we point out that the Gameboy Advance Player requires you to buy the bottom adapter AND the disc plus the many gimmicky accessories that came with the Gamecube, also considering the fact that Mainstream games like Mario Kart Double Dash, Mario Sunshine, Zelda Windwaker, Smash Bros Melee which are EASILY available in the millions of copies sold back in the day run for almost $40 or more disc ONLY online today? The GBA adapter is cheap like $20 but the disc just to play GBA games on a gamecube runs upwards of $50 plus you can't play dvds in general on a gamecube unless you bought the Japanese Exclusive Panasonic Q console. And you had to buy a Ethernet Hard Drive adapter for the original fat PS2 which wasn't cheap back then or you could just plug an Ethernet cord in the back of your OG xbox and play reliable online games that weren't based off of dodgy 3rd party Gamespy servers like many of the broadband online PS2 games were. Not to mention Xbox had a built in hardrive AND swappable controller memory cards you needed to buy several 8 Megabyte memory cards for your PS2 and GameCube and you could copy and save music onto your Xbox which a great deal of xbox games let you play music straight from the music downloaded on your Xbox rather than in game music the ability to save and play music while playing a game without switching out memory cards kinda makes up for having to buy a $20 remote and receiver Not to mention the OG xbox is one of the Easiest consoles to mod and play classic console and handheld roms on, whereas you need to buy a certain specific type of special discontinued HDD for your PS2 the HDD Ethernet adapter and then you have to take the time to download a program and install it on your Memory card in the end all you could really do was Flash PS2 ISO games on the hardrive and play them and if you had the slim PS2 well fuck off your shit out of luck it is almost impossible for the average person to mod a slim ps2. Not saying Xbox is perfect it had it's fair share of bullshit but the Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox are certainly not better than eachother and at one point I had all three growing up as a kid so I can tell you right now that the only reason people bitch and moan about their favorite console is because they started out on it or prefer that singular console over any other of its gen and any other console in that generation just wasn't good, based solely on that person's personal opinion rather than objective fact that Xbox was as close as we could get to PC quality ports on console gaming back in the day, PS2 was the sleek cool mysterious mainstream console for players looking for an all around media device to play movies, games, and music, while GameCube was for casual or Hardcore Nintendo fans yet affordable and cheap enough for young children to buy letting the Gamecube become their first roots of gaming. If I ever hear someone say one is better than the other they are flat out fucking autistic and they need to shut the f up all three consoles were equally good for their time plain and simple.
Kazu Mazu yep they waited about 15 years just so they could fuck us in the ass later......after you spent $300 on the switch you GET to spend another $60+ for the REQUIRED MICRO SD CARD due to the switches paltry built in storage, another $120 on top of that For Zelda and Mario Odysessy plus $60 for whatever 1st party Nintendo game coming out because that is really the only good games for switch right now, then you need to buy a warranty for your switch because come on let's be honest that meager little tablet screen is going to break the moment it taps the surface of your rug after falling 3 feet from your hands. Then you gotta buy a carrying case some screen protectors, $70 for a better controller. Skins for the system and controllers as well as whatever else Nintendo wants to shove down your throat for a price, oh did I mention having The online service connect to your smartphone so you gotta manipulate a smartphone to communicate as you are HOLDING a big tablet in your hands. Nintendo is the king of Nickle and Dimeing it's consumers that is the only reason they are still around today other than fanservicing female link and shoehorning Bayonetta and Cloud Strife into Smash Bros. Which I'm pretty sure you have to buy the amiboos before you can even use the new characters what's next are you going to Rule 63 Zero suit Star Fox and Female Mario then throw that into Smash bros? Oh did I mention DMCAing a FREE fam made game like AM2R or Pokemon Uranium only to release a remake of the game the fans were remaking for free a few months later selling it for full price? Yeah that's fucking Nintendo for you bro..........
I hate to say it but Online Gaming TODAY is a PRIVILEGE that many did not have in the past, the fact that Nintendo HASN'T charged money for online play up until now is quite surprising and the only redeemable factor Ninten-Tards have left to boast about.
I agree! 360 also had an option to install games onto the hard drive, only it actually improved the load times and allowed the games to run smoother. Xbox One doesn’t replicate the same feature properly. It is simply there so they can make sure your license to the game is legit. Disappointing lol The music features were also superior on not only the 360 but also on the OG Xbox.
Xbox... You may have made the mistakes you have made... But... We still Love you! (Tears)😢. Oh Xbox! Love is blind. I will always remember the enjoyment that you brought me. Through our trials our relationship only became stronger! We go through this together!😭 We may never defeat PlayStation or even Nintendo but... We are warrior's! And we fight until the war is won!
any actual gamer would enjoy games on every platform and will eventually accumulate all of them. Each console has great exclusives and does well with certain genres. Only an idiot would settle for just 1 console.
i have to say attacking the updates, is a real piss poor move, if you have bad internet how the fuck is that Microsoft's problem or a failure on their behalf. i download on my Xbox one at upwards to 80 Mbps. and have never taken over 20 minutes to update and install a game from scratch.
I have brought Red Ringed 360's back to life, the online tricks do work, but ones I have fixed never kept living more than a month. My 360 is a 2009 model, the traditional white one but the last generation of it, the chipset was much better on power, and rarely suffered from redrings. I also made cardboard ducts, got the heatpiped GPU heatsink from the earlier version (they actually cheaped out on this), and I got the more efficient quieter fans, it breathes out warm air.
Then you’d better just delete RU-vid... oh and tv and while your at it NEVER go outside Ohhhh booooo hooooo 3 5 second ads... remember how tv has 2 minutes of non skippable ads every 8 minutes?
I would love to see Ryan do pitch meeting about gaming stuff. "People don't want this creepy recording device. Is that gonna be a problem?" "Actually it'll be super easy, barely an inconvenience."
God when I got my Xbox one late last year, I bought Fallout 4 with it. I literally sat in my garage for 12+ hours, waiting for it to install and update. The excitement I had was quickly dashed away to say the least.
it does native 4 k for some games but also upscaled 4k for other games. And as history has shown power means nothing. PS2 beat GC and xbox, Wii beat PS3/360. Xbox one x is not going to sell more then the original xbox one or PS4.
TheReal RedWolfofDeath ........ console wars . Not pc wars you fucking keyboard hugger. If you want to throw random shit then in that case I have contact lenses that can help me see In 8k
i thought xbox one was 4k but it's been proven not to be, they say that to get gamers gooch moist, and then fuck you right in the ass when you inevitably realize that it can only reach 1080p
The first huge controller, was meant to have a cut out for a visual memory card like the dreamcast. They changed their mind just before launch. So just stuck a sticker in there.
The Red Ring of Death was actually figured out. When you said it was 'never formally solved', I'm not sure what you mean since when a console would get the RRoD one of the biggest working fixes was opening the console, pulling out everything to get access to the CPU, and then you would strip and reapply thermal paste. This worked for me with multiple white Xbox 360's. The one Xbox it didn't work on, turned out it was just a bad HDD.
Smart glass hasn't had great implementation, but when the 360 version launched, I could literally control my xbox with my phone when I was 10 miles away- for some reason that's no longer a function for smartglass, but I can still queue downloads up from anywhere and have it ready when I get home. It's convenient
The PS4 actually has a playable/finished and play offline downloading thing going on which helps you enjoy the game no more than 10 mins after buying it, something that had only appeared on PC in the past.
woh woh woh, the Duke controller was the best. As a person with big hands this controller was a dream come true. I do have to say this could have been solved by making a smaller controller later......oh wait
Smartglass is the best feature ever! Okay that's a bit over the top but you can connect it to someone's Xbox and then troll them secretly! Just imagine turning their Xbox off in the middle of a Call Of Duty or Fifa match...
As an original Xbox and 360 owner, I have to say: YES, TO EVERYTHING But, you forgot one thing: how games on XBLA randomly got pulled off the online store for no reason. I'm still angry that I can never play The Simpson's Arcade on there ever, again.
The pistol was a nice weapon in Halo 1 simply because outside of it you didn't have any real midrange weapons to choose from, up close it would still get demolished by shotgun and at range it was destroyed by snipers, midrange it thrived. With halo 2 adding in the battle rifle halo was perfected though.
I bought an Xbox 1st gen 360 for 40 bucks with many attachments off my friend a while back when skyrim first came out. It was red rings, but I did do the penny trick. Still going strong today for the only game I bought for it.
having a external HDDVD player was a SMART move. Look at what was just presented in both sony and microsoft fail videos. Sony releases console for $100 more than 360 but includes bluray player. Sony loses market share to high price tag while microsoft keeps the price low by having two devices instead of one. Sony cuts price soon and loses profits on each console sold. Microsoft releases with bundled kinect for $100 more than the PS4. Microsoft loses market share and cuts price by removing kinect from requirements in bundles.
Actually I think the Smart Glass was a precursor to the regular Xbox app. Which I use constantly on the regular with my Xbox. It helps a handicap person a lot
I have the Xbox 360 HD-DVD player! It was really a response to Sony's PS3 Blu-Ray drive. I still use the drive, but as an external DVD drive for my families laptops and my PC. None have DVD or Blu-Rays drives.
You cant compare the original xbox controller to the SEGA Dreamcast controller based on size. The Dreamcast controller was designed to have a memory stick (VMU) inserted into it allowing wayyyy more functionality. This required the controller to be larger to house the electronics underneath. Microsoft doesn't really have an excuse for the giant controller. Lucky for me I have huge hands and I do still occasionally use the giant controller when I play SEGA and Nintendo games on my softmodded xbox, and it doesn't really bother me.
1. PS2 by SONY 2. Xbox invented by Microsoft 3. GAMECUBE by NINTENDO 😭 4. Dreamcast by SEGA PS1 has sold 115 million copies. XBOX sold 84 million. GAMECUBE sold 33 million copies 😁 Dreamcast has 9 million copies.
7:54 unless you live in the UK, otherwise you could buy an Xbox One with Minecraft/ Forza Motorsport 5 instead of the Kinect. That was the bundle I got my Xbox one from and it came boxed in official Microsoft packaging saying 'comes with Minecraft/Forza Motorsport 5'. I bought a Kinect a few months later.
As someone who primaily uses portable game systems, I've never understood how long some of these home consols need to update. The longest my 3ds ever needed to update for was 10 minutes.
The biggest for me would be either that the Xbox one launched at $500 dollars forcing you to buy kinect while Playstation launched at $400, especially after all the bullshit Microsoft did pre- launch, or the fact that the 360 (before the two remodels) didn't have built in wireless internet or an internet browser, when even the freaking wii had both
