Prior to this past year or so the only skincare I really did was moisturize (and I’ve done this after my nightly shower since my 20s) and try to cleanse….always with drug store products until the last three years or so when finances allowed me to try some better brands. Still, they weren’t really doing it for me. Then I discovered layering. Game. Changer. K beauty products and use of appropriate actives for my skin type has saved my skin. Especially starting my routines (twice daily) with several layers of hydrating/soothing/calming toners and essences! What a huge difference! I’m proud to be a certifiable skincare junkie. I’ve got so many products and I’m always trying more. I love a longer routine now that I have the time and inclination to care (lost a bunch of weight over the past 18 mos so that’s largely what jumpstarted my vanity about skincare) For me, skincare is my makeup. I rarely wear makeup. Plus I’m in Alaska where nobody gives a crap what you’re wearing or what you look like with or without makeup on🤣 Tho I do enjoy a few luxury brands (looking at you La Mer 👀)

The PURITO scandal honestly shouldn't be attributed to them as a brand. In fact, they owned up to it gracefully unlike other brands like Keep Cool and KRAVE Beauty. The problem was their manufacturer, GreenCos, was changing the formula after getting the SPF rating approved. Just like Kolmar's popular SPF formula that BOJ, Round Lab, Skin1004, etc. uses, many brands also used this same formula from GreenCos. ALL these sunscreens were basically overvaluing their SPF rating, and that just includes PURITO. PURITO's sunscreen just happened to be the most popular one like BOJ's is today (which uses Kolmar's formula), and is the primary SPF they tested, so they got the most backlash for it.

I used to really love Pacifica, some of their products have worked really well for my skin and hair and I support their philosophy. But I stopped buying their products because they discontinue everything! I got tired of looking for replacements so now I just avoid them :( I wish they would find some staples and stick with them. Constantly changing seems like an odd strategy for a skincare company. I’ve been using Purito’s Oat-in gel cream for a couple of years now and it’s one of the only moisturizers my skin tolerates! I hope it sticks around. My holy grail before that was a Pacifica gel moisturizer that they of course discontinued 😂

I really wish you would review the Jordan Samuels skin care brand. It is a small independent brand that is moderately priced and cruelty free, filled with excellent ingredients. About purito, i think u r too strict. If you read about the story it wasn't purito's fault exactly. It could have happened to any korean or japanese brand. In addition to this, the whole scandal makes this brand even safer since it has been under the microscope from then on

I agree. Purito acknowledged what happened and made steps to correct it. I couldn't ask for anything different. They have some great products so it's not a company I think should be written off.

I expected to see the G&G C-glow, 🤣. I just bought the Hygge serum, can’t wait to try it. My routine and products have definitely changed over time. I try out toners, essences, creams a lot more than serums. Perhaps my most consist step has been a mixed antioxidant serum every morning. Ascorbic acid serums are tough for my sensitive skin to tolerate and back in the day there really were only expensive versions. I started using Paula’s Choice resist antiox serum 25 years ago. Eventually the price climbed higher than I wanted to pay and I found the Skinactives antiox serum. I’ve been using that pretty consistently for at least 10 years. Somewhere along the line I added the timeless CoQ10 serum w matryxl 3000. They’ve been the core of my am routine for years and years and I don’t anticipate changing unless I find equivalent products that are a better value. I buy the large 4 oz version of both of those. Just this year I added Stratia’s lipid gold, 1 pump morning and night either on its own or mixed in w a cream. I’ve been looking for a consistent ceramide source since I started reacting (just a little) to cerave pm when they reformulated. My sensitive skin seems to love it and I imagine that will stick around for a long time.

I saw that lab muffin Recently recommended the new olay super serum as a convenient one and done type product. I looked to see if you had done a review on that 1 and couldn't find it. I wonder if you've tried it and what you think of it? It's a little pricey but if I could get it on sale I'm looking for something that doesn't have added botanicals and fragrance because that's what irritates my skin.
