As of December 28th, 2019, I have been voicing a variety of Lewa roles in the BIONICLE community for an entire decade. It has been a blast and I have been incredibly eager to make this video ten years in the making. Thank you to everyone who watched and has supported me in my continued efforts toward being the best Toa of Air I can be!

I think Lewa's voice in Mask of Light fit Lewa NUVA, somewhat more spiritual and mature, like he grew mentally.

Lewa was my first non-duplo set. I remember the day my mom brought him home in a canister with no lid and no instructions she found at the thrift shop.

That Lewa vs Lewacetera skit is honestly iconic, and so are you! Because you tend to speak in a relatively precise manner, it's interesting to hear you loosen it up for the role.

To me, your rendition of Lewa Nuva in the Motion comics is the definitive Lewa voice. You might not like the Irish touch but it really fits.

This was fascinating getting a look at your voice acting work over the years! I was always curious about it and I'm glad you got to be part of many community projects, and good to hear an honest review of them in retrospect. I like the Reboot one having a little more courage behind the voice compared to other roles, fitting for the Reboot that is. And the BioCraft Chronicles was a joy to hear. I'm glad you've improved your voice to match your interpretation, and it's very normal to imagine your favorite character in any media in a certain media with a voice matching close to yours or your range, everybody shares that at some point. Keep it up, windfly!

For a long time now, I've wanted to add voices to the characters in the original Bionicle Flash animations...And only ever had one person in mind for Lewa. Eljay, of course! :) Hopefully someday soon I can get around to it. I have several voice projects I'd love to do.

To be honest, ever since I first heard Eljay YEARS ago, on Makutafest 2013, (i was BS01 podcast guy) and I immediately thought, "That guy. That guy is Lewa. That's what I've always imagined him sounding like." It's kinda uncanny how that happened honestly.

I always pictured Lewa having a very raspy higher pitched voice, similar to Matau from legends of metru nui only more raspy. After seeing this though, I feel like Eljay might be the best Lewa actor. Keep up the great work Eljay

Awesome! Hard to believe it's the turn of another decade. We all know bow much you love Lewa but the way you describe Lewa sounding in your head almost fits the direction of how Matau sounded in Bionicle 2 and 3, maybe with a little less arrogance?

Was expecting this to be a Lewa tribute at first. Kinda surprised you didn't mention your work for Jackson Trent's motion comics before mine, since those were the reason I asked you to imitate Dale Wilson's interpretation. If you hadn't done that interpretation for his project, I would probably have just told you to use your natural voice in mine. :P

"It's like I'm eating my own kind"? XD This is like people thinking Aquaman doesn't eat fish. The dude lives in the ocean! He commands sealife, he's not having in depth conversations with them, and the ocean isn't exactly bustling with bovines and other livestock that is found on the land. Now to bring this back to Bionicle, if Lewa is the master of the Jungle, what's wrong with eating plants? I actually find it more horrifying that the beings in Bionicle eat at all, let alone eating whatever the equivalent of meat is in the biomechanical world, and don't instead process materials into a substance like batteries or transform it into a type of energy that is then transferred into them via any other method than eating.

To be fair, would it still be techno-organic if they just converted things into batteries? In the shorts from the cancelled game from BG1, we saw that the Toa had lungs. The conclusion to be drawn is that Matoran, Turaga, and Toa all have organs.

I feel like movie Lewa's voice has the cadence of an Irish accent but the rhythm and pronunciation of a more Native American accent. I've honestly always thought he invoked more of that culture and personality than Irish and thought it worked really well for the voice in the movie and as a voice in my head for Lewa in comics. I like yours a lot as well and understand the direction you're coming from.

I'm going to be honest. Kopaka used to be my favorite, but it evolved into Pohatu. Onua still scares me ever since I first saw his teaser animation in 2001.

You've definitely improved over the years which is great to hear. I actually think your acting in Heroes of the Stars sounds the most professional (not because it most resembles a classic "hero" voice). I agree that whilst Lewa's MoL voice is fine, it doesn't suit the character that well. I just still haven't heard what I think is definitively "Lewa's voice"; I'm not sure what that would sound like. Still, your enthusiasm is commendable and if I were running any project that needed a Lewa voice I'd definitely consider you since it's basically a tradition in the Bionicle fan community now haha

I think you totally missed the point of the movie Lewa voice (which I happen to like a lot). He's supposed to sound light and lively like the wind, a person one with nature who doesn't dwell on negativity. That's why his delivery is kind of melodic and often ends on a high note. He's not supposed to sound old or Irish - I don't get where you even got that idea from. As for your ideal Lewa voice, we already have the brash jester delivery with Matau, and I think he and Lewa are totally different characters. Matau was a matoran who lived in the city of the Great Spirit - Metru Nui - his experience is wildly different from Lewa's, who essentially lived his whole life in an isolated jungle island society. Matau makes sense as a wise-cracking brash city boy - he was literally a test driver. Lewa is more of a force of nature whose identity comes more so from the primal part of his element. Matau was already a person before getting turned into a toa, which contributes to the way he behaved, while Lewa had always been a toa (one of the six most powerful ones up to that point at that).

We already had the brash, optimistic, laid-back, and cool persona with Pohatu. His extrovert personality clashed with Kopaka’s quiet and introverted character in the very first comic. Really, the Spider-Man esque vision he seems to express here lines up more with Pohatu’s characterization. Charismatic jokester with a heart of gold type

It's odd, even the comic dialogue supports how Lewa sounds in Mask of Light, yet it kept surprising me because in my head, he'd always been similar in voice and nature to Matau

I don't think that you sound pretentious. I think that everyone has a voice that they think should sound like a certain character. It's a natural thing we do when we read characters in stories. We all have our opinions on how things should sound and when they don't sound like it, it sounds weird. I believe that Lewa means a lot to you and that he was a character that you had a connection with. It's only right that you felt the character should sound like you. In his journeys through the stories, you followed him. You were Lewa. You have a good voice Eljay. Keep up the good work.

My Brother and i once got the toa Mata from the son of a friend Ho is much older than WE are . But only years later when i got into Bionicle i rebuild lewa kopaka and onua because my Brother didnt Play with Them anymore because He got lewa kopaka and onua and i got tahu Gali and pohatu . But now i got all toa Mata .

Lewa in MoL also has some Asian, specifically Chinese-ish, elements to his voice, hence why I think people think of it as sounding racist. Like when he says Realm, it sounds like rearm. And he also has a bit of a Native American aesthetic to it. It’s very weird.

I don't believe so. Tennant would come off as a tad too... fancy, I suppose? I'd never be able to separate him as The Doctor/The Purple Man from however he'd try and portray Lewa. Personalities just don't line up.
