I have the 2009 GTS 300 with 18000 miles. It was great that you took us through the various generations. Not much has changed really apart from some safety features and as you said "if it aint broke, don't fix it". Still waiting for your personal collection video. 👍🤖
We'd love to do that video, problem is we rarely have the full line up here in house at the shop. We do have a video on the GT60 you might be interested in which is the predecessor to the GTV. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g34nH_EcJ74.html
Thanks Robot, picking up my new GTS300 later this very day! Tried a Royal Alloy TG300, most unreliable Scooter/Motorbike I have ever owned - took it back on the 30th day for a refund! I should have bought the GTS300 to go with my Vintage PX125! Hope the Kent weather holds up for me this afternoon!
Love the fact they finally fixed the nose on the GTS by using deaign clues from Primavera and Sprint. Original GT/GTS nose always felt to me as an afterthought, no visual connection to any full size model of the past. Alsk nice to see the bottom of the rounded front of the leg guard has gotten a nice and more agressive edge. Combined with the new-design nose it feels so much more like a true Vespa now, IMO.
You will find some comments at the bottom of the list from people who have never owned a Vespa GTS or likely even ridden one - ignore them they do not understand......
Great video, start to finish. My question: did the maintenance intervals change across the succeeding revisions? In particular, does the 2020 rev have a more robust drive belt/variator? Thanks, Robot
Robot, I have a quick question for you… the 2020 headlight, is it backwards compatible with a 2016? Like the primavera LED that could be fitted into the 2015’s?
Is of possible to fit the 3rd gen HPE headlight and taillight unit in the 2nd generation? As far as I can see the HPE also has a headlight Chrome part around it.
Hi there in ur vid about the engine check light on the 2009 model u said if its light on its the fuel injetor system so that tell the injector are bad??? Need help cos mine light up when idle and goes off when i move off. Could it be the injectors???
The side stand comes as standard here in Europe - what I meant was, can the newer stand that stays down be fitted in place of the older ‘suicide’ design?
Look behind the horn cover. It’s about the size of a deck of cards and has cooling fins on it. There’s some yellow, black and maybe a red wire coming out of a plastic connector that goes into the regulator. If you can’t get to it, find a RU-vid video explaining how to remove the legshield plastic & glovebox. Then you’ll be able to get to it easier.
@@mikejones-go8vz vespa gtv 2007 has 250 gts engine which works really well, buy i was talking about all vespa: dashboard for example in gts 2007 is better than gts sport 2010 👍
As fun as the Vespa is, there are still many annoyances and flaws that should have been fixed but never are. The underside is very prone to rust. By now Piaggio ought to have found more space underneath the seat. It still cannot offer enough room for a full face helmet. Next, the front locker space could be doubled in size without encroaching on the rider's legs and without spoiling the look, but Piaggio cannot be bothered to address this. Some report that the infamous "wobble" or tank slapper at around 30 mph has been fixed but others say it has not. This issue has been present for a very long time. Though the Vespa is great fun, it is way over-priced relative to its usefulness and the "official" accessories are outrageously expensive.
@@rolandmetayer7210 Again, that's not how the economy works. With an average inflation rate of 1.94% since 2006, the first year GTS would be $7,587.93 in today's US dollar. This is only an increase of $111.07 which equals a cost increase of 1.4%. A one-point-four percent increase is minimal when accounting for the performance & technology advancements now included with the GTS. 2006 Vespa GTS 250 MSRP = $5,799 2019 Vespa GTS 300 MSRP = $7,699 www.in2013dollars.com/us/inflation/2005?amount=5799
13" wheels will fit: www.google.com/search?q=vespa+gts+13+inch+wheels&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjC29Gam67iAhUHrZ4KHXJIDKEQ_AUIDygC&biw=1920&bih=937
Yes, I agree with you. I thought that the wheels were only ten inches like the Yamaha BWs here in Canada or the Yamaha Zuma in the USA. I admit that I was wrong. The Vespa scooters have twelve inch wheels. I agree when you say that Vespa should try thirteen inch wheels. I believe that the scooter would have better stability and fuel economy. Good idea! Cheers from Canada !
This guy is very honest. He says it HIMSELF, to STAY AWAY from older Vespa scooters. The best thing to do is, to STAY AWAY from ALL VESPA SCOOTERS and buy a JAPANESE or a TAIWANESE made scooter. What NO salesperson will never ever warn the clients about, are those TINY SIZED WHEELS, that those Vespa scooters have. When you get 1on a highway and you start going sixty or seventy miles per hour or more, those small wheels become VERY UNSTABLE. In town they are SUPER, for cornering and going in and out of traffic, but, out on the highway or like the Americans say, the freeway, be VERY, VERY careful for stability at higher speeds. Plus the guy said it himself, that some customers did complain about the front wheel being " Whobbly ". Those small wheels should only be sold on scooters with a maximum of 150CC engines and not on any other larger displacement scooter .PERIOD ! ! Very, very dangerous wheels at high speeds compared to a twelve inch wheel or even better a fourteen inch wheel. I am Canadian, we spell 4 like this : four. The old British way. From Canada with love ! Cheers ! !
Question: have *you* ever piloted a Vespa at highway speeds? I've had my GTS300 Super up to 85mph, and while I wouldn't spend the whole day WFO, the bike was just fine. You can go 70-75 all day long. If Vespas aren't your thing, no problem, but if you're slagging for giggles, you might need a new hobby.
Before you buy a Vespa Scooter. Look at this video again and then ask yourself this question. Why, should I buy a Vespa scooter and NOT another BRAND of scooter ? Cheers !
Just Imagine, if you ever hit a BIG BUMP, you may fuck up the fuel injector. After a HARSH WINTER up here in Canada, that is all what we have : BIG BUMPS on the road. Years ago, Vespa scooters were, very good scooters and they represented what a scooter should be : (1) low purchase cost , (2) low maintenance cost, (3) easy to fix (even by the owner),(4) good fuel economy,(5) a fun to ride, two wheeled vehicle, (6)a very RELIABLE scooter. Now VESPAs are for the more WEALTHY scooter riders, the Bourgeoisie class of scooter riders. The type of people that look down and frown upon other scooter brands. The type of STUCK UP people that will say " O'h ,you only have a Japanese scooter ! I only scoot on a Vespa " Fuck those people! Buy a JAPANESE or TAIWANESE made scooter. You won't have the same PRESTIGE, but you will have piece of mind that you didn't OVERPAY for a fucking HAS BEEN scooter called VESPA. Piaggio, the makers of the Vespa scooters, should go back to the six basic points, that I mentioned above. Here in Quebec, Canada, where I live. I see young teenagers, BEATING THE SHIT out of Yamaha BWs ( Zuma in the USA) and Kymco (A Taiwanese Made Scooter). I don't think that an $ 8000.00 VESPA could take that beating and KEEP ON TICKING. Period! Cheers.
Oh, GOODY, it has a clock that doesn't work but it still gives the correct time twice a day. I am quite astonished over these new types of clocks by VESPA ! Aren't you ? ? ? Why ? Why, buy a VESPA scooter ? ? ?
LOL "new types of clocks" = digital wristwatch with a dead battery. Per the video, the clock likely works fine but the owner didn't replace the battery.
BUY A NEW VESPA SEAT ? ? At what PRICE $ 2,000.00 or $ 3,000.00 ? Buy a cover ! ! Everything on a VESPA is WAY OVERPRICED. The seat is probably made in some Chinese guy's basement for next to nothing. The father, makes his children work twelve hour days for a bowl of rice a day and the mother of the children, is out working the streets at night. Meanwhile, the father is upstairs drinking RICE ALCOHOL, while negotiating with MANAGEMENT at Piaggio, Vespa for a new contract . Furthermore, all the management team at PIAGGIO, VESPA are SUPER RICH and they want the father to cut the PRICE of each seat by HALF, because PIAGGIO needs to make a better profit on each seat ! Two words : RIP OFF !
Imagine, the SIDE STAND is an option! ! At the PRICE that PIAGGIO sells these scooters? ? ? Why ? Why , buy a Vespa scooter ? ? ? Two words to describe a VESPA SCOOTER : RIP OFF ! ! ! !
@@c7uk I don't DISLIKE VESPA SCOOTERS ! Actually, I like their styling and the fact that they have a metal body. I also like the FACT that Vespa was the original scooter after WW II . Other Chinese, Japanese and Taiwanese scooter copy the Vespa scooter but, I agree, a VESPA remains a VESPA. PERIOD! Those other makes of scooters can NEVER capture the NOSTALGIC past that the Vespa scooter has. Vespa also has a very good suspension and engine. All this being said, I cannot comprehend why Vespa scooters are PRICED SO HIGH, compared to the JAPANESE and now the Taiwanese scooters that are also good scoots. I live in Canada and the difference between the EURO and Canadian dollar makes VESPA SCOOTERS VERY, VERY PRICY. Some models of Vespa scooters are TWICE the price of a comparable Taiwanese scooter. I know that the Taiwanese scooter is mostly plastic, but half the price of a Vespa ? ? I still bought the Taiwanese scooter with a two year free waranty. At the end of the day, we buy what SOOTHS our needs the BEST and that is all what counts ! Cheers from Canada ! !
@@nikeu6077 Hello ! You don't even know me and you claim that I am an IDIOT. If you did know me , you would see that I am far from being an IDIOT. Yes, we may disagree on certain things. Overpriced, over engineered, over valued and complicated Italian, ICONIC SCOOTER. Buy a JAPANESE SCOOTER and SAVE $$$. PLUS you will spend less time at the REPAIR SHOP and more time wearing out the pavement. Cheers.
