Edit: Sinterklaas is the Dutch name for Saint Nicholas so yeah a big part of nowadays Christmas is based on the Dutch tradition celebrating Sinterklaas. Not everything but a lot. For example reindeers aren’t a part of Sinterklaas tradition. The other traditions when celebrating Christmas that is not connected to Sinterklaas is believed to come from a lot of different traditions over different places in Europe where people usually celebrated a good harvest or that light will soon shine down upon them again or because they usually slaughtered their animals near the middle of December they had a party near that time. There was even a danish king that made a rule that if you don’t party until it’s over you’re gonna get fined. Wack traditions but lovely nonetheless

Not Flash, but lightning. Also it's New York Dutch, not German. Donner wasn't a word in German when the original poem was written (1823).

And in dated Dutch can be translated as "magical". In German it's an inflection of "quick", but considering the original writer of the poem didn't speak German, was a New Yorker and used New York Dutch words for Dondor and Blixen it's safe to assume they wrote it in Dutch, but the German translation also fits. Though it should be noted Vixen also can mean the same as in English, but lacks that meaning in Dutch. And I personally doubt they'd go with a word also meaning "angry/fierce attractive woman".

As many other comments have said, Donder and Bliksem are their Dutch names while Donner and Blitzen are derived from German. Dutch is also the origin of Christmas with Saint Nicolas, who was a man that dressed up in a red suit and gave toys to orphanages in the Winter time. In both languages, they mean "Thunder" and "Lightning"
